Taste pungent, nature warm. Primarily treats carbuncles and sores (ju yang), scabies and itching (jie sao), malignant ulcers caused by heat-toxin (re qi e chuang), leprosy-like diseases (lai ji), necrotic tissue with eyebrow loss (si ji duo mei), kills hemorrhoid worms (sha zhi chong), removes black spots and polyps (qu hei zi xi rou). Also known as E Hui (Whitewash Ash). Grows in mountain valleys.
Spiritual roots are hammered and chiseled, burned in forging furnaces with firewood. Steam moistens and transforms it, wind disperses its spiritual essence. Subjected to strict measurement and brewing processes, when applied, it fills and repairs muscle tissue. Like hidden dragon bones, it reveals its miraculous efficacy over long periods.
Liu Xiaosun's poem: "High peaks connect to cloud roots." *Lunheng* mentions: "With a hammer tied to a chisel." Tao Hongjing stated: "Bluish-white stones near mountains are used to build stoves and then calcined." Recorded in *Book of Jin*. Xun Xu said: "This is cooked using 'labor firewood' (old/seasoned wood)." Su Song said: "Also known as Shi [Note: Text implies a specific stone type], there are two kinds. Those weathered decompose naturally in the wind; those hydrated dissolve under the heat of steam generated by pouring water on them." Yang Xiong's writings mention: "Moistened transformation from the wind." Wang Lv's poem: "Pine trees on the whole mountain send forth spiritual breath." Tao Hongjing said: "The ash has a very intense nature; if taken with wine, it causes abdominal pain and diarrhea." Su Gong said: It treats sores and promotes flesh regeneration. Li Shizhen said: Calcined stone from ancient tombs, named Di Long Gu (Earth Dragon Bone), is particularly excellent. Wang Wei's poem: "Exploring wonders, one does not feel the distance."
Taste pungent, nature extremely hot. Primarily treats alternating chills and fever (han re), scrofula (shu lou - lymphatic tuberculosis), necrotic tissue eroding wounds (shi chuang si ji), and abdominal hardness due to wind-bi syndrome (feng bi fu zhong jian). Also known as Qing Fen Shi (Green Divided Stone), Li Zhi Shi (Standing Control Stone), Gu Yang Shi (Solidifying Sheep Stone). Found in mountain valleys.
Mountain reports Gaotu Mountain, where Ze Ru (Marsh Milk, referring to the ore) grows specifically. Fed fat silkworms in the morning, placed with poisonous rats in the evening. Holding snow, cold condenses; containing starlight, warmth radiates. The Wen Guan (a mythical bird) builds nests, seeking places for warmth and shelter.
*Classic of Mountains and Seas* records: "On Gaotu Mountain, there is white stone, its name is [Name missing in text]." Li Shizhen said: "There are two types of this stone: white and green. The green ones often grow uniquely." Wu Pu said: "Also known as Ze Ru." Guo Pu said: "Silkworms become fat after eating it; rats die after eating it." *Dan Fang Jian Yuan* mentions: "Holding snow [operation/form], the stone has marrow during extreme cold." Li Shizhen said: "This stone has names such as Gold Star and Silver Star; they are all the same substance, merely named according to color and shape." *Rongzhai Suibi* records: "The Wen Guan incubates eggs, placing stones in the nest to assist warmth." *Liezi* mentions: "Avoiding cold, seeking warmth." Gao Qi's ci poem: "Sheltered place, dense and solid."
