Thirty-Six Methods of Da Jian (Great Interspace) and Xiao Jian (Small Interspace) in Si Tian (Heavenly Ruler) Transformation
1. Jia Zi Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun (Mid-cycle Movement) does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is termed Da Jian (Great Interspace). "Da Jian" implies that both the Left and Right Jian Qi (Interspace Qi) participate in the command of Si Tian. When the Heavenly Stem is an odd number (Yang), the sequence begins with the Left Jian Qi followed by the Right Jian Qi. When it is an even number (Yin), it begins with the Right Jian Qi. "Jian" refers to the Left and Right Jian Qi following the command of Si Tian. Since the Jian Qi lies between the Heavenly commands, the Heavenly command cannot transform independently into its correct state.
2. Bing Zi Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
3. Wu Zi Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, but the Central Yun assists the Heavenly Qi, aligning its command with Fire Yun; this is termed Xiao Jian (Small Interspace). "Xiao Jian" implies only one Jian Qi participates. If the year stem is odd, the Left Jian participates while the Right does not; if even, the Right Jian participates while the Left does not.
4. Geng Zi Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
5. Ren Zi Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, but Wood Yun assists the Heavenly Qi (Wood generates Fire); thus, it is Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes without Right Jian participating; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes without Left Jian participating.
6. Yi Chou Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
7. Ding Chou Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun overcomes (controls) the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
8. Ji Chou Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, but the Central Yun assists the Heavenly Qi, with Earth Yun being identical to the Heavenly command; this is Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
9. Xin Chou Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
10. Gui Chou Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, but the Central Yun assists the Heavenly Qi (Fire generates Earth); this is Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
11. Yi Mao Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, but the Central Yun assists the Heavenly Qi, with Metal Yun being identical to the Heavenly command; this is Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
12. Ding Mao Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.

For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
14. Xin Mao Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. (Note: Text mentions "Xiao Jian" here but describes "Left and Right both participating," which corresponds to Da Jian). Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.

22. Ding Si Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, but the Central Yun assists the Heavenly Qi, with Wood Yun being identical to the Heavenly command; this is Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
23. Ji Si Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
24. Xin Si Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, but the Central Yun assists the Heavenly Qi (Water generates Wood); this is Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
25. Gui Si Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
26. Jia Shen Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
27. Bing Shen Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
28. Wu Shen Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, but the Central Yun assists the Heavenly Qi, with Fire Yun being identical to the Heavenly command; this is Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
29. Geng Shen Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
30. Ren Shen Year Counter-Transformation: The Heavenly Qi is deficient, and the Central Yun does not assist the Heavenly Qi; this is Da Jian. Both Left and Right Jian Qi participate. For odd numbers, Left Jian precedes Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian precedes Left Jian.
The above counter-transformations comprise thirty cases, including Da Jian and Xiao Jian. The text now states there are thirty-six methods. What is the rationale? From the Zheng Hua (Direct Transformation) years, six specific years are extracted: three where Yun overcomes (Sheng) and three where Yun succeeds/assumes (Cheng), totaling six years. These belong to Xiao Jian and are more subtle.
31. Bing Wu Year: Although in Zheng Hua, Water Yun appears and overcomes Heaven, causing the Heavenly command to be incorrect, resulting in Xiao Xu (Small Deficiency), it is also classified as Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
32. Bing Yin Year: Although in Zheng Hua, Water Yun appears and overcomes Heaven, causing the Heavenly command to be incorrect, resulting in Xiao Xu, it is also classified as Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
33. Jia Xu Year: Although in Zheng Hua, Earth Yun appears and overcomes Heaven, causing the Heavenly command to be incorrect, resulting in Xiao Xu, it is also classified as Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
34. Yi Hai Year: Although in Zheng Hua, Metal Yun appears and succeeds/assumes Heaven, causing the Heavenly command to be incorrect, resulting in Xiao Xu, it is also classified as Xiao Jian. Only one Jian Qi participates. For odd numbers, Left Jian participates without Right Jian; for even numbers, Right Jian participates without Left Jian.
