Black dates (one jin, boiled and peeled), Qingfan (Vitriolum Ferritum et Cupri, one qian, ground into fine powder), and rice vinegar (one qian) are mashed together. They are refined into pills the size of *Coculus indici* seeds (Wutongzi). Dry them in the sun until completely dry.
Realgar (Xionghuang) and raw Alum (Sheng Baifan) in equal parts are ground into a fine powder. Late-night rice is mashed and refined with the powder to form pills the size of mung beans. Take three qian per dose, washed down with boiling water for immediate recovery. Pregnant women should avoid taking this.
Any condition presenting with vomiting and diarrhea, or only vomiting without diarrhea, or only diarrhea without vomiting, or even where neither can be expelled, is called Gan Huoluan (Dry Cholera). If treated improperly, death may occur instantly. This prescription uses Huoxiang (Agastache Herba), Chao Cangzhu (Fried Atractylodis Rhizoma), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) (each two qian); Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma) and Mutong (Akebiae Caulis) (each one qian); Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) and Chen Chaye (Aged Tea Leaves) (each three qian). Add fresh scallions with roots (add a piece of fresh lotus leaf if there is dry mouth). Decoct strongly in clear water and take warm. Mild cases recover after one dose; severe cases recover after a second dose. This formula was obtained from an inscription on a stone tablet at the Lüzu Palace in Sichuan and has cured many people.
