Bai Fushi (Pumice), Ge Fen (Mussel Shell Powder), Chan Tui (Cicada Slough).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Mix three qian of the powder with the bile from seven large crucian carp and take it orally. It can be taken at any time, yielding miraculous effects.
For Ge Xiao (Diabetes Mellitus affecting the diaphragm), *Sheng Ji Zong Lu* treats it with Maidong Yin Zi (Ophiopogon Decoction), which Liu Hejian followed. Upon re-reading *Ben Shi Fang*, I found the use of Shen Xiao San (Miraculous Effect Powder); its insight is profound and far-reaching.
(The pathogenic heat) shifts to the diaphragm, blazing like a prairie fire. Thus, thirst arises, seeking relief in water; drinking resembles a long whale sucking in a river. Even replenishing water and descending fire cannot catch up. The brilliance lies in immediately using [medication] to replace/handle [the condition], utilizing its light and floating nature to promote drainage/diuresis.
Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) eight liang, Shan Yu Rou (Cornus Fruit Flesh) four liang, Shan Yao (Dioscorea Rhizome) four liang, Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizome) three liang, Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) three liang, Bai Fu Ling (Poria with Hostwood) three liang, Rou Gui (Cinnamon Bark) one liang, Shu Chuan Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Lateral Root) [text fragment].
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Form pills with refined honey, sized like sophora seeds. Take fifty to seventy pills per dose, administered on an empty stomach with light salt soup, or before sleep with warm wine. Each dose should be accompanied by [proper dietary care/beautiful meal].
The function of Shen Qi Wan (Kidney Qi Pill) is to guide qi back to the kidney. Di Huang (Rehmannia), Yu Rou (Cornus), and Shan Yao (Dioscorea) tonify the Three Yin meridians. Ze Xie (Alisma), Dan Pi (Moutan), and Fu Ling (Poria) tonify the Three Yang meridians.
[The herbs] guide and integrate from different directions, orderly and precise. The name "Shen Qi" is chosen uniquely; although Yi Gui are of the same source (Liver and Kidney share the same origin), the intent particularly emphasizes the Kidney.
Shu Di Huang (Prepared Rehmannia Root) eight liang, Shan Yu (Cornus) four liang (pits removed), Shan Yao (Dioscorea) four liang, Ze Xie (Alisma) three liang, Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) three liang, Fu Ling (Poria) three liang.
Prepare according to the above method: pound together until rotten, dry, and grind into powder. Form pills with refined honey, sized like tung tree seeds. Take seventy to eighty pills per dose, administered on an empty stomach with light salt soup. In winter, use wine [to administer].
The six flavors correspond to Bitter, Sour, Sweet, Salty, Pungent, and Acrid/Bland. *Yin Yang Ying Xiang Lun* states: "When essence is deficient, tonify with flavor." The essence of the Five Zang organs... Qi transformation... Qi, [those who] tonify... Fu Zi (Aconite) [fragmented text].
Liu Huang (Sulfur) eight liang.
Prepare according to the above method; details of administration are recorded in the annotations.
Yu Hu (Jade Pot) refers to the human body. Daoist texts say: "Golden essence fills the tripod, qi returns to the root; Jade fluid fills the pot, spirit enters the chamber." Mr. Xuan Shou said: Sulfur is [derived from] Fan (Alum)...
Now... For every eight liang of Liu Huang (Sulfur), match with eight liang of Zhen Ma You (True Sesame Oil). Crush the sulfur, put it into cold oil, and stew on the stove.
