又方 用小蒜不拘多少，研极烂，和黄丹少许，以聚为度，丸如鸡头大，候干。每服一
丸，新汲水下，面东服，至妙。

又一个方子：太阳刚出来时，面向东方拜两次，完毕后面朝正前方长跪，面向东方双手交叉，应当闭气，用墨汁滴入耳管的两个耳孔中，各七滴，又用朱砂在舌头上写字，写“子日死”三个字，完毕后再拜两次，离开不要回头，安静躺卧不要进食，过了发作时间停止，病即痊愈。
又一个方子：多煮豆豉汤，饮用数升，令其大吐，病即痊愈。
又一个方子：取蜘蛛一只，放在饭中做成丸吞服。
又一个方子：临发作时，捣碎大附子过筛，用醋调和，涂抹在背部。
又一个方子：鼠妇虫四只各一枚，用饴糖包裹，做成丸服用，病即断绝，立刻痊愈。
又一个方子：常山三两（捣碎，过筛成末），真丹一两。用白蜜调和，捣一万杵，做成梧桐子大小的丸药。首次发作前服用三丸，发作中途服用三丸，睡前服用三丸，没有不断绝的。经常使用，有效。
又一个方子：张大嘴巴，测量上下唇之间的距离，用绳子量心头到该距离的长度，在此长度下的头部位置灸一百壮，又在脊柱中央灸五十壮，过了发作时间后，灸二十壮。
又一个方子：破开一颗大豆（去皮），在其中一片上写“日”字，另一片上写“月”字，左手拿“日”，右手拿“月”，吞服后立即痊愈。面向东方服用，不要让他人知道。
又一个方子：皂荚三两（去皮，炙烤），巴豆一两（去心皮）。捣碎，做成如大豆大小的丸药。每次服用一枚。
又一个方子：巴豆一枚（去心皮），射干如巴豆大小，枣一枚（去皮）。混合捣碎成丸。首次发作前各服用一枚如梧桐子大小的丸药。
又一个方子：常山、知母、甘草、麻黄等分。捣碎后用蜂蜜和丸如大豆大小。服用三丸，在发作前令其服完。
又一个方子：常山三两，甘草半两。水和酒各半升，混合煮取半升。首次发作时服用一次，在发作前令其服完三次。

又一个方子：如果发作没有定时，心中烦热。取常山二两，甘草一两半。混合用水六升，煮取二升。分两次服用，应当快吐，病即断绝，不要饮食。
老疟久治不愈者。常山三两，鳖甲一两（炙烤），升麻一两，附子一两，乌贼骨一两。用酒六升，浸泡之，稍微靠近火源，一夜制成。服用一合，在发作前可以多次服用。
又一个方子：藜芦、皂荚各一两（炙烤），巴豆二十五枚。一起捣碎，炒至黄色，按照方法捣碎后用蜜丸如小豆大小。空腹服用一丸，未发作时服用一丸，临发作时再服用一丸，不要饮食。
又一个方子：牛膝茎叶一把（切碎）。用酒三升服用，令身体微有酒气，若不立即断绝。再次制作，不超过三次服用即可停止。
又一个方子：龙骨末一方寸匕。在首次发作前一小时，用酒一升半，煮三沸。趁热全部服下，温覆取汗，立即见效。
又一个方子：常山三两，甘草半两，知母一两。捣碎后用蜜丸。到首次发作时，服用如梧桐子大小十丸，第二次服用减为七丸或八丸，后来五丸或六丸，病即痊愈。
又一个方子：首次发作前两小时，在床下用炭火，令脊背和脚极暖并用被子覆盖，过了发作时间才停止。这是治疗先寒后热的疟疾。
又一个方子：先炙烤鳖甲（捣成末）一方寸匕。到发作时令其三次服完，用火炙烤，没有不断绝的。
又一个方子：常山三两。捣碎，过筛，用鸡蛋清和丸。空腹服用三十丸，去发作前很久服用三十丸，发作时服用三十丸，或者吐或者不吐，从服药到过了发作时间，不要饮食。
治疗温疟不能进食。知母、鳖甲（炙烤）、常山各二两，地骨皮三两（切碎），竹叶一升（切碎），石膏四两。用水七升，煮取二升五合。分三次温服。忌食蒜、热面、猪肉、鱼。
治疗瘴疟。常山、黄连、豆豉（炒）各三两，附子二两（炮制）。捣碎，过筛，蜜丸。空腹服用四丸，欲发作时服用三丸，饮水送下，服药后至过了发作时间，不要吃食物。
如果兼有各种痢疾。黄连、犀角各三两，牡蛎、香豉各二两，并熬制的龙骨四两。捣碎，过筛，蜜丸服用四十丸。每天两次服用，饮水送下。
没有固定时间发作的。常山二两，甘草一两半，豆豉五合。用绵布包裹，用水六升，煮取三升。分两次服用，快吐。
不论年月，可治疗三十年病程的。常山、黄连各三两。酒一斗，隔夜浸泡，早晨用瓦锅煮取六升。每次服用八合，在发作前令其服完三次。热证应当吐，冷证应当利，服用后无不痊愈的，半料合起来服用即可。
劳疟积久，多种治疗不愈者。生长的大牛膝一大虎口宽。用水六升，煮取二升。空腹服用一次，欲发作时服用一次。
禳解一切疟疾。这一天抱住公鸡，一时辰内让它大声叫，没有不痊愈的。
又一个方子：未发作时，头向南卧，五心及额头舌头七处，闭气写“鬼”字。
咒法。发作当天拿一块石头在水边，一口气念咒语说：“眢眢圆圆，行路非难，捉取疟鬼，送与河官，急急如律令”，投入水中，不得回头。

Formulas for Treating Malaria. *Porcellio* (Porcellio scaber) and fermented soybean (*Douchi*, Fermented Soybean), fourteen pieces, are mixed and pounded together until uniform. Take two pills before the onset of malaria, and one pill when it is about to start.
Another formula: Take a handful of *Qinghao* (Artemisiae Annuae Herba). Soak in two sheng of water, squeeze out the juice, and take it all at once.
Another formula: Use a single-clove garlic bulb, roast it on white charcoal, and grind into powder. Take one fangcun bi (a measure approx. 1 square inch) of the powder.
Another formula: On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, take one slice of garlic (peeled, split in the middle, cut with a knife), place one kernel of *Badou* (Crotonis Fructus, Croton Seed) (decoreicated and peeled) inside the garlic to close it. Hold it with bamboo tongs and roast over fire until warm, then pound into three pills. Take one pill before the onset. If symptoms persist, administer another pill.
Another formula: Take one spider, seal it tightly inside a reed tube, tie the neck of the tube with a string, and do not untie it until after the paroxysm has passed.
Another formula: At sunrise, face east and bow twice. Then kneel straight facing forward, cross hands facing the sun, hold breath, and drip ink into both ears, seven drops each. Write "Zi Ri Si" (Death on Zi Day) with cinnabar on the tongue. Bow twice again, leave without looking back, lie quietly without eating, and stop after the paroxysm time has passed; the disease will heal.
Another formula: Boil a large amount of fermented soybean (*Douchi*) soup, drink several sheng, induce severe vomiting, and the disease will heal.
Another formula: Take one spider, mix it with rice, form into pills, and swallow.
Another formula: When the paroxysm is imminent, pound large *Fuzi* (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, Prepared Lateral Root of Aconite), sieve it, mix with vinegar, and apply to the back.
Another formula: Four *Shufu* (Porcellio scaber, Woodlouse) insects, one piece each, wrapped in malt sugar, formed into pills and taken; the disease will cease and heal immediately.
Another formula: *Changshan* ( Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) three liang (pounded and sieved into powder), *Zhendan* (Real Cinnabar) one liang. Mix with white honey, pound ten thousand times, and form pills the size of mulberry seeds. Take three pills before the first onset, three pills during the paroxysm, and three pills before bed. There is no case that does not cease. Regular use is effective.
Another formula: Open the mouth wide, measure the distance between the upper and lower lips, use a string to measure from the heart center downwards by that length. Moxibustion on the head at this measured point for one hundred moxa cones (zhuang), and fifty zhuang on the center of the spine. After the paroxysm time, moxibustion for twenty zhuang.
Another formula: Break open one soybean (peeled), write "Ri" (Sun) on one piece and "Yue" (Moon) on another. Hold "Ri" in the left hand and "Yue" in the right hand, swallow them, and recover immediately. Take facing east, and do not let others know.
Another formula: *Zaojiao* (Gleditsiae Fructus, Chinese Tamarisk Pod) three liang (peeled and roasted), *Badou* (Crotonis Fructus, Croton Seed) one liang (decoreicated and peeled). Pound and form pills the size of soybeans. Take one pill per dose.
Another formula: One *Badou* (Crotonis Fructus, Croton Seed) (decoreicated and peeled), *Shegan* (Belamcandae Rhizoma, Blackberry Lily Rhizome) the size of a Badou, one jujube (peeled). Pound together into pills. Take one pill the size of a mulberry seed before the first onset.
Another formula: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot), *Zhimu* (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, Anemarrhena Rhizome), *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root), and *Mahuang* (Ephedrae Herba, Ephedra) in equal parts. Pound and mix with honey to form pills the size of soybeans. Take three pills, ensuring they are taken before the onset.
Another formula: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) three liang, *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root) half a liang. Mix half a sheng of water and half a sheng of wine, boil down to half a sheng. Take one dose at the first onset, and ensure three doses are completed before the paroxysm.
Another formula: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) three liang (chopped). Soak in three sheng of wine for two to three days. In the early morning, take three he as three separate doses. To induce vomiting, take two he just before the onset; the disease will cease. Old wine is also good; if urgent, it can be boiled.
Another formula: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) three liang, Shumi (Sorghum) three hundred grains. Boil in six sheng of water to obtain three sheng. Divide and take, finishing by the time of onset.
Another formula: If the onset is irregular and there is irritability and heat in the chest. Take *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) two liang, *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root) one and a half liang. Mix with six sheng of water, boil to obtain two sheng. Divide into two doses. Severe vomiting should occur, and the disease will cease; do not eat or drink.
For chronic malaria that persists for a long time: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) three liang, *Biejia* (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, Turtle Shell) one liang (roasted), *Shengma* (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Black Cohosh Rhizome) one liang, *Fuzi* (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, Prepared Lateral Root of Aconite) one liang, *Wuzeigu* (Sepiae Endoconcha, Cuttlebone) one liang. Soak in six sheng of wine, keep slightly near fire overnight to prepare. Take one he; it can be taken multiple times before the onset.
Another formula: *Lilu* (Veratri Radix, White Hellebore Root) and *Zaojiao* (Gleditsiae Fructus, Chinese Tamarisk Pod) one liang each (roasted), *Badou* (Crotonis Fructus, Croton Seed) twenty-five pieces. Pound together, stir-fry until yellow, and form honey pills the size of small beans. Take one pill on an empty stomach, one pill before onset, and one pill just before onset; do not eat.
Another formula: A handful of *Niuxi* (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, Achyranthes Root) stems and leaves (chopped). Take with three sheng of wine until a slight alcohol sensation is felt. If it does not cease immediately, repeat preparation; it will stop within three doses.
Another formula: *Longgu* (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae, Fossil Bone) powder, one fangcun bi. One hour before the first onset, boil in one and a half sheng of wine for three boils. Drink hot while covered warmly to induce sweating; it takes effect immediately.
Another formula: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) three liang, *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root) half a liang, *Zhimu* (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, Anemarrhena Rhizome) one liang. Form honey pills. At the first onset, take ten pills the size of mulberry seeds; reduce to seven or eight pills for the next dose, then five or six pills; the disease will heal.
Another formula: Two hours before the first onset, place charcoal fire under the bed to make the back and feet extremely warm, cover with blankets, and stop after the paroxysm time passes. This treats malaria characterized by chills preceding fever.
Another formula: First roast *Biejia* (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, Turtle Shell) (pound into powder), one fangcun bi. By the time of onset, complete three doses. Apply heat/moxibustion; there is no case that does not cease.
Another formula: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) three liang. Pound, sieve, and mix with egg white to form pills. Take thirty pills on an empty stomach, thirty pills long before onset, and thirty pills at onset. Whether vomiting occurs or not, do not eat or drink from the time of administration until after the paroxysm.
Treating Warm Malaria with inability to eat: *Zhimu* (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, Anemarrhena Rhizome), *Biejia* (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, Turtle Shell) (roasted), *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) each two liang, *Digupi* (Phellodendri Cortex, Phellodendron Bark) three liang (chopped), *Zhuye* (Bambusae Folium, Bamboo Leaf) one sheng (chopped), *Shigao* (Gypsi Fibrosus, Gypsum Fibrosum) four liang. Boil in seven sheng of water to obtain two sheng and five he. Divide into three warm doses. Avoid garlic, hot noodles, pork, and fish.
Treating Zang Malaria: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot), *Huanglian* (Coptidis Rhizoma, Coptis Rhizome), *Chi* (Fermented Soybean) (stir-fried) each three liang, *Fuzi* (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, Prepared Lateral Root of Aconite) two liang (processed). Pound, sieve, and form honey pills. Take four pills on an empty stomach, three pills when about to onset, and swallow with water. Do not eat from the time of medication until after the paroxysm.
If accompanied by various dysenteries: *Huanglian* (Coptidis Rhizoma, Coptis Rhizome) and *Xijiao* (Rhinocerotis Cornu, Rhino Horn) each three liang, *Muli* (Ostreae Concha, Oyster Shell) and *Xiangchi* (Perillae Fructus, Perilla Fruit) each two liang, and processed *Longgu* (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae, Fossil Bone) four liang. Pound, sieve, and form honey pills. Take forty pills, twice daily, swallowed with water.
For irregular onset: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) two liang, *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root) one and a half liang, *Chi* (Fermented Soybean) five he. Wrap in cotton, boil in six sheng of water to obtain three sheng. Take twice, inducing severe vomiting.
Regardless of years, treatable for thirty-year duration: *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot) and *Huanglian* (Coptidis Rhizoma, Coptis Rhizome) each three liang. Soak in one dou of wine overnight. Boil in a clay pot in the morning to obtain six sheng. Take eight he per dose, completing three doses before onset. Heat-type cases should vomit, cold-type cases should have diarrhea; all cases heal. Half the dosage is sufficient.
For chronic labor malaria unresponsive to other treatments: A large tiger-mouth width of growing *Niuxi* (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, Achyranthes Root). Boil in six sheng of water to obtain two sheng. Take one dose on an empty stomach, and one dose when about to onset.
Exorcising all malaria: On that day, hold a rooster and make it cry loudly for one shichen (two hours); there is no case that does not heal.
Another formula: Before onset, lie with head facing south. On the five palms, forehead, and tongue (seven places), hold breath and write the character "Gui" (Ghost).
Incantation Method: On the day of onset, take a stone to the riverbank. Recite the incantation in one breath: "Yuan Yuan Yuan Yuan, traveling is not difficult, catch the malaria ghost, send it to the River Official, act quickly according to the law," throw it into the water, and do not look back.
Treating all malaria, Wumei Wan Formula: *Gancao* (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Licorice Root) two liang, *Wumei Rou* (Mume Semen, Plum Seed) (roasted), *Renshen* (Ginseng Radix, Ginseng Root), *Guixin* (Cinnamomi Ramulus, Cinnamon Twig), *Roucongrong* (Cistanches Herba, Cistanche Herb), *Zhimu* (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, Anemarrhena Rhizome), *Mudanpi* (Moutan Cortex, Tree Peony Bark) each two liang; *Changshan* (Dichroae Radix, Dichroot), *Shengma* (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, Black Cohosh Rhizome), *Taoren* (Persicae Semen, Peach Seed) (peeled and de-coreicated, roasted), *Wudoupi* (Sojae Semen Nigrum Testa, Black Soybean Skin) (roasted skin removed) each three liang. Grind Taoren, add when preparing pills, pound and sieve, form honey pills, and pound ten thousand times in a Su Tu mortar. On the day of onset, take thirty pills with wine at dawn (wugeng), forty pills at daybreak, forty pills when about to onset, forty pills on non-onset days on an empty stomach, and thirty pills at night. All cases heal. After slow administration, eating fatty meat after more than ten days may trigger recurrence.
For any malaria seen: *Bailvti* (White Donkey Hoof) two fen (roasted), *Dahuang* (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, Rhubarb Root) four fen, *Lvdou* (Phaseoli Semen, Bean Seed) three fen (powder), *Pishuang* (Arsenicum Rubrum, Red Arsenic) two fen, *Guangmingsha* (Cinnabaris, Cinnabar) half a fen, *Xionghuang* (Realgar) one fen. Form honey pills the size of mulberry seeds. On the day of onset, take two pills with cold water at dawn. Avoid oil for seven days.

*Treatment for persistent malaria from Waitai Miyao*: *Ganjiang* (Zingiberis Rhizoma, Dried Ginger) and *Gaoliangjiang* (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, Galangal) in equal parts. Make into powder. Take one qian per dose, boil in one zhuan of water to seven-tenths, and take.
*Treatment for chronic labor malaria and zang malaria from Shenghui Fang*: Use three liang of *Biejia* (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, Turtle Shell), coat with butter, roast until yellow, remove the skirt-like edges, and grind into powder. At onset, take two qianbi with warm wine.
Treatment for malaria: Use one hundred *Taoren* (Persicae Semen, Peach Seed), peel and de-coreicate, grind finely into paste in a mortar, avoiding raw water. Once paste is formed, add three qian of *Huandan* (Minii Preparatum, Prepared Red Lead), form pills the size of mulberry seeds. Take three pills per dose. On the day of onset, face north and swallow with warm wine. If unable to drink wine, well water is acceptable. Prepare on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month at noon. Avoid chickens, dogs, and women seeing the preparation.
Another formula: Use *Xiaosuan* (Allium Macrostemon Bulbus, Small Garlic) in any amount, grind extremely fine, mix with a little *Huandan* (Minii Preparatum, Prepared Red Lead), form into pills the size of chicken heads, and dry. Take one pill per dose with fresh drawn water, facing east; this is excellent.
