[Heishen Wan (Black Divine Pill)]
Qī (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) (6.5 liang, half raw and half processed; boiled in a double boiler for half a day until fragrant). Shenqu (Medicated Leaven) (4 liang). Huixiang (Fructus Foeniculi) (4 liang). Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae). Jiaohong (Pericarpium Zanthoxyli). Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli) (each appropriate amount).
Grind the above herbs into powder and form pills the size of bullet seeds. Take 12 liang of Huixiang powder, spread it out in a shaded place to dry naturally. When the surface of the pills is dry, store them together with the Huixiang powder in a container until extremely dry, then remove the Huixiang powder. This formula treats residual kidney qi affecting the intestines, bladder Pi mass (abdominal masses), and seven types of hernias with downward dragging sensation. It is indicated for Wuge (Five Obstructions), blood flooding (metrorrhagia), various postpartum hemorrhages, leukorrhea with red and white discharge. Divide the dose into four servings. For retained dead fetus, take one pill; all conditions are taken with non-ash wine (clear wine). For difficult labor, fry 49 seeds of Abutilon theophrasti, crush them, decoct in wine, and take one pill. Various diseases resolve within no more than three doses. For deficiency of Yuanqi (Original Qi), ten doses are required; for Geqi (Qi obstruction in the chest/diaphragm) and Pi masses, five doses; for Xuejia (Blood masses), three pills should suffice for recovery. My clan's niece-in-law suffered from a large lump in her abdomen resembling a Pi mass. Each episode was unbearable in pain. At that time, she was residing in the capital with her husband. Physicians who had treated her tried their own medicines without success. Chen Yingzhi said: "This is a Xuejia." He prescribed Heishen Wan. After taking three pills, the Pi mass completely dissipated, and it never recurred in her lifetime.

[Shenbao Wan (Divine Protection Pill)]
Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae) (1 fen). Hujiao (Fructus Piperis Nigris) (1 fen). Badou (Semen Crotonis Tiglii) (10 seeds, peeled, core removed, ground). Ganxie (Scorpio dried) (1 piece).
Dissolve Zhengbing (steamed cake made from steamed dough) in water, mix with the herbs, and form pills the size of sesame seeds. Coat with Zhusha (Cinnabar). Take three pills per dose. For Xin Ge Tong (pain in the heart and diaphragm), take with Shidi Tang (Persimmi Calyx Decoction), or with Dengxincao (Herba Sparganii) added to Shidi Tang. For Abdominal Pain, take with Shidi Wei Jiang Tang (Persimmi Calyx and Roasted Ginger Decoction). For Xue Tong (blood-related pain), take with fried ginger vinegar urine. For inability to urinate, take with Dengxin Tang (Herba Sparganii Decoction). For Xueli (bloody dysentery) and Zangdu (visceral toxin), take with Chu Ye Tang (Broussonetia Leaf Decoction). For excessive Lung Qi, add Baifan (Alumen), Bangfen (Concha Margaritifera), each 3 fen, and Huangdan (Minium) 1 fen, grind together into a powder. Decoct Sangbaipi (Cortex Mori Radicis) and Nuomii (Semen Oryzae Glutinosae) drink, and take three pills mixed with this powder. If mild wheezing occurs, use only Sangpi Nuomi Yin (Mulberry Root Bark and Glutinous Rice Drink) to take the pills. For Shen Qi Xie Xia Tong (Kidney Qi pain under the ribs), take with Huixiang Jiu (Fennel Wine). For constipation, take with honey water mixed with 1 qian of Binglang Mo (Areca Seed Powder). For Qi Ye (Qi choking), take with Muxiang Tang (Aucklandia Decoction). For undigested food retention, any tea, wine, or liquid beverage may be used. Thirty years ago, while staying in Jinling, I received this formula from physician Wang Qi. Wang Qi stated: Among all Qi disorders, only the pain under the ribs caused by Bladder Qi is the most difficult to treat; this pill alone can eliminate it. During the Xining era, I suffered from neck tendon pain. All physicians attributed it to Wind, but treatment for several months failed. The condition eventually flowed into the back spine, and over time radiated to the right hypochondrium, causing severe spasmodic pain. Recalling Wang Qi's words, I checked the *Lingyuan* where the formula had been recorded, found this case verification, prepared and took the medicine. One dose cured me. Upon recurrence later, another dose cured it again.
