Fangji Wan (Stephania Tetrandra Pill) from *Huiyan*: Treats intractable gan cough (cough caused by gan syndrome).
Han Fangji (*Stephiae Radix*), Qianniu Zi (*Pharbitidis Semen*), Madouling (*Aristolochiae Manshuriensis Fructus* [stir-fried], Tian Tingli (*Lepidii Semen*). Process the latter two separately by grinding. Use equal parts of each.
Grind the above into powder, use boiled jujube flesh as a binder to make pills the size of mung beans. Take ten pills per dose, administered with decoction of glutinous rice. Alternate administration with Wenfei San (Warm the Lungs Powder).
Wenfei San (Warm the Lungs Powder):
Gualou Gen (*Trichosanthis Radix*, half tael), Gancao (*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* [roasted], two qian and a half).
Grind into powder. Take one qian per dose, mixed with honey and warm water.
Pediatric Lung Gan (Lung involvement in gan syndrome) often results from consuming hot rice or milk from a sick cow, damaging the Heart and Lungs, leading to wheezing and coughing. Incompetent physicians fail to distinguish between cold and heat patterns and use purgative drugs, resulting in yellow edema and gradual lethargy. It is appropriate to administer Xingren San (Apricot Seed Powder).
Xingren (*Armeniacae Semen Amarum*, fourteen grains), Gancao (*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*), Kuandonghua (*Farfarae Flos*) (two qian each), Shexiang (*Moschus*, one qian), Huhuanglian (*Coptidis Rhizoma* [specifically *Coptis chinensis* var. *teetae* or similar regional variant known as Huhuanglian], one qian), Banxia (*Pinelliae Rhizoma* [soaked in boiling water nine times], half tael).
Grind the above into powder. Take a dose equivalent to "one zi" (a traditional small weight measure), mixed with jujube tea. Administer twice daily.
[Mao]: The symptoms include a bluish-yellow complexion, emaciation, abdominal distension, erect hair, fever, and mild abdominal pain. This condition arises when gan syndrome becomes severe and transmits to this state. Treatment should first involve regulating qi with Yunqi San (Regulate Qi Powder) and Xingpi San (Awaken the Spleen Powder) (both formulas are found under the section "Refusal to Nurse") for two days. Then, administer Qingjin Dan (Green Gold Pill) to purge gan accumulation. Follow up with Yunqi San and Xingpi San to tonify. Regular consumption of Baotong Wan (Protect the Child Pill) will lead to recovery. *Yu Jue* states: For gan qi with abdominal distension and tidal fever, first administer medications to regulate stomach qi, then medications to remove deficiency accumulation, and finally medications to treat gan.
Qian Yi's Niuhuang Wan (Calculus Bovis Pill): Treats pediatric gan accumulation.
Xionghuang (*Realgar* [ground and processed by water flotation], Tianzhuhu (*Tianshuihuang* [Calculus Bovis]) (two qian each), Qianniu (*Pharbitidis Semen* [powdered], one qian).
