巢氏云，手太阳之经入于耳内，头脑有风，入乘其脉，与气相搏，故令耳聋。
《圣惠》治小儿风热两耳聋鸣方
远志（去心） 甘草（炙微赤，锉） 柴胡（去苗） 菖蒲（各一分） 磁石（三分，捣碎，水淘去赤汁）
麦门冬（去心，焙半两）
上捣，细罗为散。每服，以葱白汤调下半钱，日二服，量儿大小，以意加减。
〔张涣〕通鸣散 治耳聋。
菖蒲（一寸九节者） 远志（去心。各一两） 柴胡（去苗） 麦门冬（去心） 防风（各半两） 细辛 甜葶
苈（各一分） 以上捣罗，并为细末，次入磁石（一分，捣碎，水淘去赤汁） 杏仁（二七个，汤浸，去皮尖，研）
上件，都研匀。每服半钱，煎葱白汤调下，日二，乳后。
《圣惠》细辛膏 治小儿耳聋，或因脑热，或因水入，或因吹着，并宜用此。
细辛 防风（去芦头） 川大黄（锉，微炒） 黄芩（各一分） 川椒（去目，十粒） 蜡（半两）
上件药，细锉，用清麻油三合，煎药紫色，滤过，下蜡候消为膏。每日三度，
用一大豆大，点于耳中。
《圣惠》治小儿耳聋不瘥方
甜葶苈 杏仁（汤浸，去皮） 盐（各等分）
上件药捣，研如膏，以少许猪脂和合，煎令稠，以绵裹如蕤核大，塞耳中，日一易之。
又方
松脂 菖蒲（末） 乌油麻（各半两）
上件药相和捣熟，绵裹如一红豆大，塞耳，日一易。
又方
菖蒲（末一分） 杏仁（汤浸，去皮尖，研如泥，半两）
上相和研令乳入，每用少许，绵裹内耳中，日一易。
又方
上取葱白于 灰中煨令熟，以葱白头纳耳中，日三易。
又方
蓖麻子（去皮十枚） 枣肉（七枚）同捣如膏。每取蕤核大，绵裹少许，塞耳中，日一易。
又方
上，捣芥子令烂，以人乳和。绵裹少许，塞耳中，日一易之。
麝香散 治沉耳。
麝香（少许） 白矾（一钱，火 ） 五倍子（二钱）
上件，为末。纸捻子点入耳中少许。
巢元方说，手太阳经进入耳内，如果头脑受风邪侵袭，风邪侵入经脉，与正气相互搏结，从而导致耳聋。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿因风热导致双耳失聪、耳鸣的方剂：
远志（去除心部） 甘草（炙至微红，切碎） 柴胡（去除苗茎） 石菖蒲（各取一分） 磁石（三分，捣碎，用水淘洗去除红色汁液）
麦门冬（去除心部，焙干半两）
将上述药材捣碎，过细筛制成散剂。每次服用半钱，用葱白汤调服，每日两次，根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
〔张涣〕通鸣散，治疗耳聋。
石菖蒲（选取一寸长且有九节的） 远志（去除心部，各一两） 柴胡（去除苗茎） 麦门冬（去除心部） 防风（各半两） 细辛 甜葶苈（各一分） 以上药材捣碎过罗，混合研成细末，随后加入磁石（一分，捣碎，用水淘洗去除红色汁液）和杏仁（二十七个，热水浸泡，去皮尖，研磨）。
将上述所有药材一起研磨均匀。每次服用半钱，煎煮葱白汤调服，每日两次，在哺乳后服用。
《圣惠方》细辛膏，治疗小儿耳聋，无论是因脑热引起，还是因水进入耳中，或因吹受风寒所致，均适宜使用此膏。
细辛 防风（去除芦头） 川大黄（切碎，微炒） 黄芩（各取一分） 川椒（去除目蒂，十粒） 蜂蜡（半两）
将上述药材细细切碎，用清麻油三合，煎至药液呈紫色，过滤去渣，加入蜂蜡待其融化即成膏状。每日三次，取如大豆大小的药膏，滴入耳中。
《圣惠方》治疗小儿耳聋久治不愈的方剂：
甜葶苈 杏仁（热水浸泡，去皮） 盐（各等分）
将上述药材捣碎，研磨成膏状，取少许猪脂调和，煎至稠厚，用棉布包裹如蕤核大小，塞入耳中，每日一换。
又一方：
松脂 石菖蒲（研末） 乌油麻（各半两）
将上述药材混合捣熟，用棉布包裹如红豆大小，塞入耳中，每日一换。
又一方：
石菖蒲（研末一分） 杏仁（热水浸泡，去皮尖，研磨如泥，半两）
将两者混合研磨至乳状，每次取少许，用棉布包裹塞入耳中，每日一换。
又一方：
取葱白在灰烬中煨烤至熟，将葱白头纳入耳中，每日一换三次。
又一方：
蓖麻子（去皮十枚） 枣肉（七枚）一同捣烂如膏。每次取如蕤核大小，用棉布包裹少许，塞入耳中，每日一换。
又一方：
将芥子捣烂，用人乳调和。用棉布包裹少许，塞入耳中，每日一换。
麝香散，治疗耳窍闭塞不通（沉耳）。
麝香（少许） 白矾（一钱，火煅） 五倍子（二钱）
将上述药材研成粉末。用纸捻蘸取少许药粉点入耳中。
Chao Yuanfang stated that the Hand-Taiyang meridian enters the ear. If wind pathogen invades the head and brain, it penetrates the meridians and contends with healthy qi, thereby causing deafness (Erlong).
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* Formula for Treating Deafness and Tinnitus in Children Due to Wind-Heat:
Polygalae Radix (Yuanzhi, 远志) [decored], Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草) [roasted until slightly red, sliced], Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, 柴胡) [decapitated], Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Shichangpu, 石菖蒲) [each 1 fen], Magnetitum (Cishi, 磁石) [3 fen, crushed, washed with water to remove red juice], Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong, 麦门冬) [decored, baked, 0.5 liang].
Crush the above herbs, sift finely to make a powder. Each dose is half a qian, taken with decoction of scallion white, twice daily. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and condition.
[Tang Huan] Tongming San, for treating deafness.
Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Shichangpu, 石菖蒲) [one cun long with nine nodes], Polygalae Radix (Yuanzhi, 远志) [decored, each 1 liang], Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, 柴胡) [decapitated], Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong, 麦门冬) [decored], Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, 防风) [each 0.5 liang], Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, 细辛), Descurainiae Semen Lepidii Semens (Tinglizi, 甜葶苈) [each 1 fen]. The above are crushed and sifted into fine powder. Then add Magnetitum (Cishi, 磁石) [1 fen, crushed, washed with water to remove red juice] and Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren, 杏仁) [27 seeds, soaked in hot water, skin and tip removed, ground].
Grind all ingredients uniformly. Each dose is half a qian, taken with decoction of scallion white, twice daily after breastfeeding.
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* Xixin Gao, for treating pediatric deafness caused by brain heat, water entering the ear, or exposure to wind. All these conditions are suitable for this ointment.
Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, 细辛), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, 防风) [decapitated], Rheum Palmatum Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, 川大黄) [sliced, lightly stir-fried], Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, 黄芩) [each 1 fen], Zanthoxyli Pericarpium (Huajiao, 川椒) [pips removed, 10 grains], Cera Flava (La, 蜂蜡) [0.5 liang].
Finely slice the above herbs, boil in 3 he of pure sesame oil until the liquid turns purple. Filter out the dregs, add beeswax and melt to form an ointment. Apply three times daily, using a amount the size of a soybean inserted into the ear.
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* Formula for Persistent Pediatric Deafness:
Descurainiae Semen Lepidii Semens (Tinglizi, 甜葶苈), Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren, 杏仁) [soaked in hot water, skin removed], Halitum (Yan, 盐) [equal parts].
Crush and grind the above herbs into a paste. Mix with a small amount of lard, cook until thick. Wrap in cotton cloth to the size of a pericarp seed, insert into the ear, replace once daily.
Another formula:
Pini Resina (Songzhi, 松脂), Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Shichangpu, 石菖蒲) [powdered], Sesamum Indicum Fructus (Wuyouma, 乌油麻) [each 0.5 liang].
Mix and crush thoroughly. Wrap in cotton cloth to the size of a red bean, insert into the ear, replace once daily.
Another formula:
Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Shichangpu, 石菖蒲) [powdered, 1 fen], Armeniacae Semen Amarum (Xingren, 杏仁) [soaked in hot water, skin and tip removed, ground into paste, 0.5 liang].
Grind together until milky. Use a small amount wrapped in cotton cloth, insert into the ear, replace once daily.
Another formula:
Take scallion white, roast in ashes until cooked. Insert the head of the scallion into the ear, replace three times daily.
Another formula:
Ricini Semen (Bimazi, 蓖麻子) [skin removed, 10 seeds], Ziziphi Jujubae Mesocarp (Zaorou, 枣肉) [7 seeds]. Crush together into a paste. Take an amount the size of a pericarp seed, wrap in cotton cloth, insert into the ear, replace once daily.
Another formula:
Crush Sinapis Semen (Jiezi, 芥子) until soft, mix with human milk. Wrap a small amount in cotton cloth, insert into the ear, replace once daily.
Shexiang San, for treating blocked ear canals (Chen'er).
Moschus (Shexiang, 麝香) [a small amount], Alumen (Baifan, 白矾) [1 qian, calcined], Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus (Wubeizi, 五倍子) [2 qian].
Grind into powder. Dip a paper wick into the powder and insert a small amount into the ear.
