[Wenmu Bird Wing]
Taste: Sweet. Nature: Non-toxic. Consuming its meat makes one courageous and robust. Originates from Shangdang. The Fu (Rhapsody) of Emperor Wu of Wei states: "The chicken possesses fierce spirit; in combat, it never yields, striving until death." Currently, people use 'Xie' (pronounced as 'He' or 'Ke') as a crown ornament, imitating this form.
[Wild Pheasant Description]

[Pheasant Description]
Mainly treats fire disasters. The *Shu* (Commentary) of Tianzhu Fazhen Dengluo Mountain states: The *Classic of Mountains and Seas* records that raising pheasants can mitigate fire disasters, similar to the five-colored pheasant.
[Charm/Ghost Description]
Non-toxic. Swallowing it raw allows one to see various spirits. Alternatively, grinding its eyeballs and dripping them into the eyes enables seeing ghosts at night. Eating its meat and eggs causes mental confusion. Wiping the body with its feathers has a similar effect, though not necessarily causing confusion, due to its fishy and mutton-like odor.
[Waterbird Description]
Mainly treats deafness; drip oil into the ear. Also prevents swords and knives from rusting; apply its fat to the blades. This is a waterbird, resembling a turtledove, with webbed feet like a duck connected to the tail, unable to walk on land, staying in water; it sinks when humans approach and may rise only when struck. The commentary of *Erya* states: Its fat is mainly used for polishing swords. The poem *Xu Yinghua* says: "Horses hold millet leaves in their mouths, swords are polished with [this bird's] fat," referring to this.
[Cuckoo Description]
Promotes love between husband and wife. Collect one strap on the fifth day of the fifth month; men wear it on the left, women on the right. It is said that placing them in water allows them to follow each other naturally. Additionally, Jiangdong calls it Guogong; northerners call it Bogu, also known as Huogu. It resembles a harrier, with a long tail. *Erya* states: It is a type of dove. The commentary notes: It is the current cuckoo; male and female fly and sing together, brushing wings against each other. *Book of Rites* states: The flying dove brushes its feathers. Zheng Xuan’s commentary notes: Flying while striking wings against each other.
[Wenmu Bird Description]
Used to make fans, which repel mosquitoes. The bird is chicken-sized, black. Grows in southern marshes and reeds. Its sound resembles human vomiting, expelling one or two sheng of mosquitoes from its mouth each time. *Erya* states: It is the Wenmu. The commentary notes: It is often said that it constantly vomits mosquitoes. Although mosquitoes are born from the metamorphosis of insects in foul waters, some say they are expelled by the Wenmu bird. This is akin to the Wenmu grass in northern regions, the Mengmu grass in Lingnan, and the Wenmu bird in Jiangdong; these three different entities share the same function.
