The branch of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian (Shouyangming Dachang Jing) enters the teeth. If wind pathogen (Feng Xie) affects the head and face, and the Yangming meridian is deficient, the wind pathogen may follow the meridian into the teeth due to the deficiency. This causes wind in the teeth, manifesting as slight swelling and loose, floating tooth roots. For treating this condition with decoctions, external heat application (Wen), acupuncture, and bian stones, there are separate specific formulas. The methods of nourishing, supplementing, and guiding circulation (Dao Yin) are attached hereafter.
The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) · *Dao Yin Fa* (Guiding and Pulling Methods) states: Whenever a person feels stiffness and rigidity in the back accompanied by a sense of oppression, regardless of the season, they should perform the following: retract the throat and push inward toward both arms, extend the face upward while pushing the arms upward, and twist the head left and right. Perform this twenty-one times on each side (three sets of seven). Pause after each set, waiting for the blood circulation and qi movement to stabilize before proceeding. The movements should start slowly and become faster later; one must not start fast and then slow down. Even without illness, it is beneficial to practice at three specific times: upon waking in the morning, at noon, and at sunset. If used for therapeutic purposes, perform twenty-one repetitions at each time slot. This method can eliminate cold-heat disorders, pain in the spine, waist, head, neck, and nape, wind-bi syndrome, mouth sores, wind affecting the teeth, and dizziness. Persistent practice will ultimately resolve all these conditions.
The branch of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian enters the teeth. When wind pathogen affects the head and face, the wind qi flows into the Yangming meridian and contends with the blood and qi between the gums, resulting in swelling.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: Mercury should not come into contact with the teeth, as it causes gum swelling and predisposes one to tooth loss.
The branch of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian enters the teeth. When wind pathogen affects the head and face, and the Yangming meridian is deficient, wind carrying heat enters the gums through the deficiency and contends with the blood, causing bleeding.
"Teeth worms" refer to insects that gnaw on the teeth and also eat into the dental structure, causing toothache. This occurs because there are holes at the root of the teeth where the insects reside inside, consuming the tooth entirely before moving on to infest other teeth.
"Dental worms" involve insects feeding within the teeth. With holes at the tooth root allowing insects to reside within, this also causes toothache. After consuming one tooth completely, they move to infest remaining teeth.
"Chew-tooth worms" involve insects gnawing on the teeth. With holes at the tooth root allowing insects to reside within, this also causes toothache. After consuming one tooth completely, they move to infest remaining teeth.
The *Yangsheng Fang* states: At cockcrow, frequently clench and tap the teeth thirty-six times. Long-term adherence prevents dental caries caused by insects and strengthens the teeth.
It further states: Before rising in the morning, rinse the mouth with saliva, swallow when the mouth is full, and then grind the teeth fourteen times (two sets of seven). Repeat this three times, then stop. This method is called "Refining Essence" (Lian Jing). It makes people vigorous and radiant in complexion, eliminates worms, and strengthens the teeth.
It also states: If one constantly consumes "Jade Spring," one will surely become vigorous and joyful in appearance, eliminating worms and strengthening the teeth. "Jade Spring" refers to the saliva in the mouth.
