The Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney) meridian originates below the little toe, slanting towards the center of the foot (where Yongquan GV1 is located, meaning "to tend towards"). It emerges below RanGu KI2, follows the posterior aspect of the medial malleolus, and a branch enters the heel. Ascending along the posterior medial aspect of the thigh, it penetrates the spine (intersecting with Changqiang GV1), belongs to the Kidney, and connects with the Bladder. The straight branch rises from the Kidney (at Huangshu KI16, where it belongs to the Kidney; this point is one cun below Shangqu KI15, 0.5 cun lateral to the umbilicus), passes through the Liver and diaphragm, enters the Lung, follows the throat, and flanks the root of the tongue. Another branch emerges from the Lung (diverging from Shencang LU13, governing the Heart), emerges to connect with the Heart, and pours into the chest center (at Tanzhong CV17, where it intersects with the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium meridian).
(Also known as the Hand-Shaoyin meridian, or Second Name: Real Ministerial Fire.)
The Hand-Jueyin Pericardium meridian originates in the chest center, emerges to belong to the Pericardium, descends through the diaphragm, and successively connects with the Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao (Shangwan CV13, Zhongwan CV12, and one cun below the umbilicus represent the divisions of the Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao respectively). A branch follows the chest, emerges from the hypochondrium, and descends three cun below the axilla (here is Tianchi PC1, located three cun below the axilla, one cun behind the nipple, attached to the rib, directly opposite the tendon raised when lifting the arm). It ascends to reach the axilla, then descends along the medial aspect of the upper arm, running between the Hand-Taiyin Lung meridian and the Hand-Shaoyin Heart meridian, entering the elbow center (here is Quze PC3, located in the depression at the medial end of the transverse cubital crease, obtained by flexing the elbow). Descending along the forearm, it runs between two tendons, enters the palm center (here is Laogong PC8), follows the middle finger to its tip (here is Zhongchong PC9, located at the tip of the middle finger on the hand). Another branch diverges from the palm center (diverging from Laogong PC8), follows the ring finger to its tip (the ring finger is also called the fourth finger; here it intersects with the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao meridian).
(The Sanjiao is the pathway for food and fluids, and the beginning and end of Qi. The Upper Jiao is located at the upper opening of the Stomach, its treatment site is Tanzhong CV17; the Middle Jiao is located at the middle of the Stomach (Zhongwan CV12), its treatment site is beside the umbilicus; the Lower Jiao is located at the upper opening of the Bladder, its treatment site is one cun below the umbilicus.)
The Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao meridian originates at the tip of the ring finger (here is the division of Guanchong SJ1), ascends out between the index and ring fingers, follows the dorsal aspect of the wrist (the end of the forearm bone is the wrist), emerges between the two bones of the forearm, ascends through the elbow (the end of the forearm bone is the elbow; Tianjing SJ10 is located one cun posterior to the medial epicondyle of the humerus, in the depression between two tendons, obtained by flexing the elbow). Following the lateral aspect of the upper arm (between the elbow and shoulder, opposite the axilla), it ascends over the shoulder, emerging posterior to the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder meridian, enters the supraclavicular fossa (Quepen LI15), intersects at Tanzhong CV17, scatters and connects with the Pericardium, descends through the diaphragm, and extensively belongs to the Upper, Middle, and Lower Jiao (descending through the diaphragm, at the upper opening of the Stomach to belong to the Upper Jiao, at Zhongwan CV12 to belong to the Middle Jiao, at Yinjiao CV10 to belong to the Lower Jiao). A branch emerges from Tanzhong CV17, ascends out of the supraclavicular fossa, reaches the neck (the area posterior to Naohu GV16 is the neck), flanks the ear, ascends straight to the upper angle of the ear (here is Jiaosun TE20), then bends down to the cheek, reaching the infraorbital region (below the eye is the zygoma; here is the division of Quanliao SI18). Another branch diverges from behind the ear (here is the division of Yifeng TE17), enters the ear, emerges again to reach the outer canthus (intersecting with Tongziliao GB1 and Sizhukong TE23, connecting with the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder meridian).
