The Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian originates at the side of the nose, intersects with the Du vessel (Governing Vessel), and descends along the lateral aspect of the nose into the upper teeth. It then emerges, encircles the lips, and crosses at Chengjiang (CV24) (located in the depression below the lower lip). It subsequently follows the posterior aspect of the mandible, emerges at Daying (ST5), ascends along Jiache (ST6) to the anterior aspect of the ear, passes through Guest Master (ST7), follows the hairline to the forehead (Daying is located 1.3 cun anterior to the angle of the mandible in the depression where the pulse can be felt; Jiache is in the depression at the end of the curved jaw below the ear; Guest Master is above the anterior border of the zygomatic arch, open-mouthed reveals a depression with a pulsating artery). A branch descends from the anterior aspect of Daying to Renying (ST9), follows the throat, enters Quepen (ST12), pierces the diaphragm, belongs to the Stomach, and connects with the Spleen (Renying is anterior to the sternocleidomastoid muscle, directly below Daying and above Qishe). The main trunk descends from Quepen along the medial aspect of the breast, runs alongside the umbilicus, and enters the Qichong (ST30) region (also known as Qichong, 2 cun lateral to the midline). Another branch originates from the stomach opening (the lower outlet of the stomach, corresponding to Xiawan/Confluent Lower, also referred to as Youmen/Hydoor), descends within the abdominal cavity to merge with the main trunk at Qichong. From there, it descends through Biguan (ST31), reaches Futu (ST32), enters the patella, descends along the lateral aspect of the tibia to the dorsum of the foot, and enters between the toes of the second toe. A further branch diverges three cun below the knee, descending to enter the lateral space between the second and third toes. Another branch diverges from the dorsum of the foot, enters the space between the great toe, and emerges at its tip (connecting with the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian).
The Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian originates at the tip of the great toe, follows the medial margin of the white skin of the toe, passes posterior to the first metatarsal bone (also called He Gu or solitary ankle bone), ascends anterior to the medial malleolus, and continues along the posterior aspect of the tibia, emerging anterior to the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. It ascends along the medial aspect of the knee and thigh, enters the abdomen, belongs to the Spleen, and connects with the Stomach. It ascends through the diaphragm, runs alongside the pharynx, connects with the root of the tongue, and spreads beneath the tongue. A branch diverges from the stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, and pours into the Heart (connecting with the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian).
