(From Sun Simiao's *Qianjin Yaofang*) Treats stroke (Zhongfeng) resulting in facial deviation and paralysis, slurred speech, as well as rigid spasm (Gangjing) and flaccid spasm (Roujing), and wind leakage of the Jueyin channel. This is a general formula for treating wind-stroke affecting the six channels.
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, 1.5 liang), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, 5 liang), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix) (each 1 liang), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, one piece). Use twelve sheng of water, first boil Mahuang for three boils, remove the foam, add the remaining herbs, decoct to obtain three sheng of liquid, divide into three doses. (If there are tight sinews, slow speech, and a wiry pulse, double the dose of Renshen, add Yiyiren (Coicis Semen) and Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), remove Baishao. If there is irritability and constipation, remove Guixin and Fuzi, double the dose of Shaoyao, add Zhuli (Bambusae Sap). If there is body pain and convulsions, add Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix). If the disease has persisted for a long time with constipation and chest discomfort, add Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Zhike (Aurantii Fructus). If there is thirst, add Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) and Huafen (Trichosanthis Radix). If there is coldness in the zang organs leading to diarrhea, remove Fangji and Huangqin, double the dose of Fuzi, add Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma). If there is excessive sweating, remove Mahuang, add Baizhu. If there is vomiting and reflux, add Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma). If there is slurred speech, hand...)
Xiaoxuting Tang consists of Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), Fuzi, Chuanxiong, along with Mahuang, Renshen, Baishao, Xingren, Fangfeng, Huangqin, Fangji, and Gancao; it is a general formula for treating wind-stroke of the six channels. (Mahuang and Xingren constitute Mahuang Tang, which treats cold; Guizhi and Baishao constitute Guizhi Tang, which treats wind; Renshen and Gancao tonify qi; Chuanxiong and Baishao nourish blood; Shengjiang disperses cold; Fangfeng treats wind pathogenic factors; Fangji treats damp pathogenic factors; Fuzi treats cold pathogenic factors; Huangqin treats heat pathogenic factors. Therefore, it serves as a general formula for treating stroke. Liu Zongnong stated in *Yuji Wei Yi*: "This formula does not distinguish between meridians or differentiate between cold, heat, deficiency, and excess; what use is it even if used frequently?" Wang Ang stated in *Yifang Jijie*: "This formula is rarely used by people today, yet most ancient and modern formulas for treating wind diseases are derived from this formula through modification." Xu Gao's note: This formula is modified from the Xuming Tang in *Gujin Luyan*. Because the onset of the disease is chaotic and complex, the herbs also cover multiple aspects.)
(From Zhang Shiche's *Shesheng Zhongmiao Fang*) Treats asthma caused by lung deficiency combined with cold invasion, where qi rebels upward and heat accumulates in the diaphragm.
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Kua Donghua (Dendrobii Flos), Sangbaipi (Mori Cortex) (each 3 qian, honey-fried), Suzi (Perillae Fructus, 2 qian), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) (each 1.5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian), Baiguo (Ginkgo Semen, 21 pieces, stir-fried until yellow). Add ginger and decoct.
Dingchuan Tang consists of Baiguo and Mahuang, along with Kua Donghua, Banxia, Sangbaipi, Suzi, Xingren, Huangqin, and Gancao; it is commonly used for asthma due to lung cold and diaphragmatic heat. (This is the main formula for Dingchuan. Asthma is mostly caused by cold binding the exterior, causing yang qi to converge in the diaphragm without being able to disperse, thus phlegm-heat becomes firmly stuck in the diaphragm, leading to rebellious qi, coarse breathing, and asthma. The treatment method should involve dispersing exterior cold, clearing diaphragmatic heat, descending qi, eliminating phlegm, and moistening the lungs; this formula is most appropriate. Baiguo has astringent properties; twenty-one pieces may be too many, so the dosage should be reduced.)
