Various symptoms of Houfeng (Wind-Throat) arise from the Lung and Stomach organs deeply affected by wind pathogen. Depressed wind-heat and fire-wind struggle against each other, causing Qi and Blood to become blocked and stagnant, unable to circulate freely. Consequently, wind-phlegm attacks upward, forming various heat-toxins. Therefore, it is appropriate to use acupuncture to open and guide the meridians, allowing Qi and Blood to flow smoothly, so that wind-phlegm resolves naturally and heat pathogens exit outward. Combined with various miraculous prescriptions, treating the symptoms layer by layer, how could it fail? Acupuncture, specifically "Qi Needle," serves as the vanguard of all medicines and is the wonderful secret for treating Houfeng; its efficacy cannot be fully described. When encountering various symptoms, start with Shaoshang (LU11), Shaochong (HT9), and Hegu (LI4). According to the principle of male left and female right, puncture each according to acupuncture methods. If the disease is severe, proceed to puncture Xinhui (GV22), Qian Ding (GV20), Baihui (GV20), Hou Ding (GV19), Fengfu (GV16), Jiache (ST6), and Fengchi (GB20). Retain Jianjing (GB21), Chize (LU5), Quze (PC3), Xiaohai (SI8), Shaohai (HT3), Shangyang (LI1), Zhongchong (PC9), Zhaohai (KI6), Zusanli (ST36), and Yinbai (SP1). Use these acupoints based on the severity of the condition. Do not needle all points at once. In cases of extremely severe Houfeng, one may needle the entire body's acupoints to open the meridians throughout the body, allowing the wind-heat consolidated pathogen to lose its momentum, so that Qi and Blood can circulate freely. Assist with internal treatment using miraculous medicines, and there will surely be miraculous effects. If no blood flows upon needling, it indicates wind-heat obstruction; thus, the depressed pathogen deepens daily, representing the most dangerous condition, often leading to death. In clinical practice of this specialty, one can determine auspicious or ominous outcomes simply by observing the needle site. Those who wish to study this should reflect carefully and observe meticulously.
