The Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin originates at Tianchi (Tianhui). It runs through the chest, emerges from under the lateral costal margin, enters the elbow at Quze, descends along the forearm, and terminates at the tip of the middle finger. There are nine acupoints in total; four are recorded here.
Tianchi (also known as Tianhui) is located one cun posterior to the nipple, three cun below the axilla, within the intercostal space adjacent to the rib. *Lunzhu* states: it is two cun posterior to the nipple, and is an intersection point of the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin and the Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang. Needle depth: 0.3 cun; moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. It treats chest and hypochondriac fullness and oppression, headache, aversion to cold with fever, and malaria. *Qianjin Fang* states: it treats neck fistulas and scrofula; moxibustion can be applied up to 100 cones.
Tianquan (also known as Tianxun) is located in the axilla above Quze, two cun away from the shoulder arm. Take the point with the arm raised. Needle depth: 0.6 cun; moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. Another source suggests a needle depth of 0.2 cun. It treats aversion to wind and cold, and pain in the chest and hypochondrium.
Quze is located in the depression at the medial end of the transverse cubital crease, on the medial side of the tendon where the artery beats. Flex the elbow to locate it. The Qi of the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin enters and gathers here, forming the He-Sea point. Needle depth: 0.3 cun; retain the needle for seven breaths. Moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. It treats sore throat, fever, vexation and thirst, and pulling pain in the arm and elbow that prevents extension.
Zhongchong is located at the tip of the middle finger, in the depression approximately the width of a leek leaf from the nail corner. The Qi of the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin emerges here, forming the Jing-Well point. Needle depth: 0.1 cun; retain the needle for three breaths. Moxibustion: 1 moxa cone. It treats heat diseases with no sweating, severe headache as if splitting, body heat like fire, heart pain with vexation and fullness, and stiff, painful tongue. *Shennong Bencao Jing* states: it treats infantile night crying and frequent weeping; moxibustion: 1 cone, size of a wheat grain. *Baizheng Fu* states: combined with Lianquan, it attacks swelling and pain under the tongue. Another view holds that it treats insufficiency of Shen-Qi (spiritual energy) and loss of willpower; moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. *Qiankun Shengyi* states: this is one of the Ten Jing-Well points. In cases of stroke with excessive phlegm-saliva obstruction, locked jaw, or sore throat preventing swallowing of medicine, urgently prick Shaoshang, Shaochong, and this point with a three-edged needle to promote blood and Qi circulation. This is a miraculous method for reviving the dying.
The Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin originates at Jiquan and terminates at Shaochong. The pulse originates in the heart, emerges to belong to the Heart System, passes downward through the diaphragm, and connects with the Small Intestine. Its branch ascends from the Heart System, flanking the pharynx, and connects with the Eye System. Its main trunk returns from the Heart System, ascends into the lung, emerges downward from the axilla, runs along the medial posterior border of the upper arm, posterior to the Lung Meridian of Hand-Taiyin and the Pericardium, descends into the elbow, runs along the medial posterior border of the forearm, reaches the end of the pisiform bone at the wrist, enters the palm along its medial posterior border, runs along the medial side of the little finger, and emerges at its tip. There are nine acupoints in total; two are selected here.
Shaochong (also known as Jingshi) is located at the medial ulnar end of the little finger, approximately the width of a leek leaf from the nail corner. The Qi of the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin emerges here, forming the Jing-Well point. Needle depth: 0.1 cun; retain the needle for one breath. Moxibustion: 1 moxa cone. It treats heat diseases with vexation and fullness, flaming-up of Heart Fire, red eyes, blood deficiency, vomiting of bloody froth, hot mouth and sour throat, alternating chills and fever, pain along the medial posterior border of the arm, and inability to extend the wrist. *Qiankun Shengyi* states: this is one of the Ten Jing-Well points. In cases of stroke with falling, sudden coma, unilateral or bilateral tonsillar swelling (Ebi), and tight throat preventing opening, prick this point and Shaoshang with a three-edged needle to promote blood and Qi circulation. This is a crucial method for emergency rescue.
Tongli is located in the depression one cun posterior to the wrist joint. It is the Luo-Connecting point of the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin, diverging to the Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang. Needle depth: 0.3 cun; moxibustion: 3 moxa cones. It treats heat disease with headache and vertigo, bi-syndrome of the throat with bitter vomiting, and swelling and pain in the elbow and arm. *Shennong Bencao Jing* states: it treats vertigo and headache; moxibustion: 7 moxa cones. Ma Danyang states: it treats aphonia (desire to speak but inability to produce sound), excess patterns with heavy limbs, redness of the head, cheeks, and face, throat closure with difficult breathing, and inability to eat or drink. Prick slightly with a three-edged needle to bleed; moxibustion is not suitable.
