Treats vomiting with the pathology located above the diaphragm. If the patient subsequently desires water, it indicates resolution. Provide water promptly. For those desiring water, this powder (Zhuling San) is the primary treatment.
Zhu Ling (Polyporus), Fu Ling (Poria), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (in equal parts).
Crush the above three herbs into a powder. Take one fangcun bi (a square-inch measure) with warm water, administered three times daily.
The verse states: It is auspicious to give water when thirst arises after vomiting. (Give in small amounts to replenish fluids.) Excessive intake risks disrupting the qi of retained fluid. (Fearing that as old retention clears, new retention may arise.)
(The verse is found in *Changsha Fang Ge Kuo*.) Treats vomiting with a weak pulse, free urination, slight fever in the body, and cold extremities; this is difficult to treat. This decoction (Sini Tang) is the primary treatment.
Fu Zi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix), Gan Jiang (Dried Zingiberis Rhizoma), Gan Cao (Licorice Root).
Mr. Yuanxi notes: Vomiting and heat are forced by yin pathogens. Free urination and cold extremities indicate the absence of yang. A weak pulse signifies deficiency-cold of the true zang organs. Use Sini Tang.
(The verse is found in *Changsha Fang Ge Kuo*.) Treats vomiting accompanied by fever; this decoction is the primary treatment.
Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Sheng Jiang (Fresh Zingiberis Rhizoma), Da Zao (Jujubae Fructus).
Mr. Wei notes: Vomiting with fever is a Shaoyang exterior syndrome. If the exterior is not resolved, internal harmony is disrupted, leading to vomiting. The Yangming channel governs the muscles; wood pathogen invades the earth organ.
Treats gastric reversal vomiting; this decoction is the primary treatment.
Ban Xia (Pinelliae Tuber) (two sheng), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (three liang), Bai Mi (White Honey) (one sheng).
Take the above three ingredients, add twelve dou of water, mix with honey, stir and lift two hundred and forty times, then decoct the medicine. Obtain two and a half sheng of liquid. Take one sheng warm, and administer the remainder in two doses.
The verse states: Gastric reversal has long been attributed to Chong vessel overacting upward; Ban Xia two sheng mixed with one sheng of honey, three liang of Ren Shen laboriously boiled. (Water and honey stirred and lifted two hundred and forty times).
Yuanxi notes: The large amount of water used in this formula aims to boil the white honey extensively, removing its cold nature while utilizing its moistening property. This allows its sticky nature to linger in the stomach, preventing rapid downward movement.
Having discussed this, further questioning is unnecessary. If one recognizes such mediocrity and deception, there is no need to continue discussing. Between the diaphragm and pharynx, the qi of communication fails to descend... (Text ends abruptly)
