Qi Lin (Qi-type Strangury) is caused by the obstruction of Qi mechanism, leading to the failure in transforming and transporting fluids. The pathology originates in the Lung and extends to the Bladder. Its manifestations include fullness in the lower abdomen, astringency in urination, and a sensation of incomplete emptying with residual drops after voiding. Xu Renze stated: "Qi Lin occurs when Qi stagnation leads to urinary retention, thereby forming Qi Lin." Generally, this condition should be treated according to the methods for treating Water-Qi disorders mentioned previously. However, there are cases where heat in the Qi level prevents fluid transformation; in such instances, clearing Lung-Heat (Qing Fei Jin) should be the primary therapeutic approach.
