(The pathology is located solely in the Stomach and Large Intestine.)
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Qinjiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix), Huaijiao (Aescini Fructus), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis).
(Specifically treats Heat syndromes and seminal emission/spermatorrhea.)
Dai Yun stated: Emission of semen occurring during dreams is called "dream emission" (Mengyi). Emission of semen without dreaming is called "slippery sperm" (Jinghua). Both are caused by the hyperactivity of Ministerial Fire (Xianghuo); prolonged cases result in Deficiency without Cold.
Leukorrhea is treated with the same method as dream emission.
Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Haishi (Pumex), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) constitute Chunshugen Wan (Toona Seed Decoction Pill).
In cases of internal injury to Qi and Blood failing to secure and retain, tonification should be administered using Bawu Tang (Eight Substance Decoction) with modifications, swallowed alongside Chunshugen Wan. Diseases arising from excessive thinking originate in the Heart; treatment requires calming the Spirit and tonifying, while ensuring free flow if Heat is present.
Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Hafan (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae).
(Specifically treats Damp-Heat syndromes.)
Dai Yun stated: "Zhuo" (Turbidity) refers to the slippery downward flow of essence in urine. All such conditions belong to Damp-Heat in the Bladder. Although there may be differences between red and white turbidity, fundamentally there is no distinction between Cold and Heat. He Jian said: When the weather is hot, water becomes turbid; when cold, it becomes clear and chilly. From this observation, it is evident that the pathology of Zhuo is clearly due to Damp-Heat.
Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Muli (Concha Ostreae), Hafan (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae).
Another prescription:
Liangjiang (Alpiniae Katsumadai Rhizoma, 3 qian), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, 2 qian), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 2 qian, charred but retaining efficacy), Chupishu (Bark of Toona sinensis, white bark, 1.5 liang).
Grind into powder, form pills with paste. Take thirty pills per dose.
Damp-Heat, Phlegm, and Deficiency are involved. Red turbidity pertains to Blood, white turbidity pertains to Qi. Cold causes stagnation and coagulation, while Heat promotes free flow.
Generally, these are all caused by the pouring down of Damp-Heat, suitable for drying the Dampness of the Middle Jiao. Use Erchen Tang (Two Aged Ingredients Decoction) added with Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) and Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) to dry and remove Dampness. If red, it indicates Dampness injuring the Blood; add Baishaoyao (White Peony Root). Continue using Zhenzhufen Wan (Pearl Powder Pill) added with Chunshugenpi (Toona Bark), Huashi (Talcum), and Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) to form pills.
For patients with Xu Lao (Consumptive Disease), use Yin-tonifying medicines; generally, avoid Hot-natured drugs.
Obese individuals inevitably have much Phlegm; use Erchen Tang to clear their Heat. For those with weak Stomach Qi, add Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), and use Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) and Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) to raise the clear Qi of the Stomach. The pill formula uses:
Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried until brown), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, stir-fried until slightly black), Haishi (Pumex), Hafan (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae).
For red and white turbidity caused by the downward flow of turbid Qi from the Stomach, use Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), and Erchen Tang (Two Aged Ingredients Decoction). The pill formula uses Chumo (Toona powder), Hafan (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae), stir-fried Jiang (Ginger), and stir-fried Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex).
Specifically treating the downward flow of turbid Qi from the Stomach infiltrating the Bladder, use Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) and Hafan (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae).
If the Liver pulse is Xian (Wiry), use Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) to drain the Liver.
Another prescription:
Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, 1 liang, stir-fried black), Shengbai (Fresh Cypress Bark, 2.5 qian; alternatively 3 liang), Haishi (Pumex, 2 liang), Shenqu (Medicated Leaven, 5 qian).
Grind into powder, make water pills.
For those with Heat, use Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Huashi (Talcum), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), etc.
To dry Dampness and resolve Phlegm: Nanting (Arisaematis Cum Bile), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber), Hafan (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae).
Make pills with Shenqu (Medicated Leaven), coat with Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis). Alternatively, replace Shenqu with Haishi (Pumex).
Zhang Zi Yuan had both Qi and Blood deficiency, Phlegm, intermittent Gout pain, occasional rising of Yin Fire, white turbid urine, or red and white leukorrhea. The prescription is found in the preceding section on Gout.
One patient suffered from urinary turbidity for half a year, occasionally experiencing dream emission, with emaciated physique. Treated primarily as Heart Deficiency: take Zhenzhufen Wan (Pearl Powder Pill) mixed evenly with Dingzhi Wan (Stabilize Spirit Pill).
A woman near sixty years old was obese, indulged in rich and greasy food, resulting in unclear Middle Jiao. Turbid Qi flowed into the Bladder, causing downward injection of white turbidity. White turbidity is essentially Wet Phlegm.
Dai Yun stated: Firmly use Erchen Tang (Two Aged Ingredients Decoction) to resolve Phlegm; add Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) to raise the clear Qi of the Stomach; add Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) to remove Dampness; Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) tonifies the Stomach. Flexibility is key. After four doses, turbidity reduced by more than half. Chest fullness was felt because Chaihu and Shengma raised and stirred the Qi. For obstruction and closure due to Phlegm, use Erchen Tang (Two Aged Ingredients Decoction) added with stir-fried Shenqu (Medicated Leaven) and Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma). Those without Phlegm do not experience fullness when Stomach Qi is raised.
Pill Formula
Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Chunpi (Toona Bark), Hafan (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae), Huashi (Talcum), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, stir-fried), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried).
Grind into powder, form pills with stir-fried Shenqu paste. The previously mentioned Drying-Dampness-and-Phlegm Pill can also treat leukorrhea.
Another Prescription
Huashi (Talcum) benefits the orifices; Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) treats Damp-Heat; Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) resolves depression and stagnation; Hafan (Concha Meretricis et Cyclinae) is salty and cold, entering the Kidney channel; stir-fried Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) is bitter, astringing Lung Qi to descend, thereby generating Yin Blood. Ganjiang should be processed with salt.
