(Totaling 654 acupoints. There are 48 unilateral points and 308 bilateral points.)
The Yellow Emperor asked, "There are 365 Qi points (acupoints where Qi gathers) corresponding to the days of a year. I wish to know if the Sunluo (collateral vessels) and Xigu (valleys between muscles) also have their corresponding correspondences?" Qibo replied, "The convergence of Sunluo and Xigu amounts to 365 point intersections, corresponding to the days of a year, used to drain (in *Suwen* written as 'overflow') strange pathogens and to unblock Ying (Nutritive Qi) and Wei (Defensive Qi). The large convergence of muscle is called Gu (Valley), and the small convergence of muscle is called Xi (Stream). Between the muscle fibers, at the intersection of Xi and Gu, Ying and Wei Qi circulate, and here resides the Great Qi."
