The maximum circumference of the head is two chi six cun, the chest circumference is four chi five cun, and the waist circumference is four chi two cun. The area covered by hair, from the top of the skull to the nape (neck), measures one chi two cun; from below the hairline to the chin (yi) is one chi. From the depression below the laryngeal prominence to the Quepen (CV15, center of the supraclavicular fossa) is four cun; if this exceeds four cun, the lungs are large, and if less, the lungs are small. From Quepen to Tianshu (ST25, 2 cun lateral to the umbilicus) is nine cun; if it exceeds nine cun, the stomach is large, and if less, the stomach is small. From Tianshu to Henggu (the upper border of the pubic symphysis) is six and a half cun; if it exceeds this, the ileum is wide and long, and if less, it is narrow and short. The length of Henggu is six and a half cun. From the upper border of Henggu to the upper border of the medial epicondyle of the tibia (inner auxiliary bone) is one chi eight cun; from the upper border to the lower border of the medial epicondyle is three and a half cun; from the lower border of the medial epicondyle to the tip of the medial malleolus is one chi three cun; from the medial malleolus to the ground is three cun. From the knee to the dorsum of the foot (Fu Shu) is one chi six cun; from the dorsum of the foot to the ground is three cun. Therefore, if the bone circumference is large, it is excessive; if small, it is insufficient.
From the ear angle to the Zhu Gu (spinous process of C7) is one chi. The portion not visible when walking along the axillary midline is four cun. From the axilla to the Ji Xie (end of the 12th rib) is one chi two cun. From the Ji Xie to the Bi Shu (greater trochanter of the femur) is six cun. From the Bi Shu to the middle of the knee is one chi nine cun. From the knee to the lateral malleolus is one chi six cun. From the lateral malleolus to the Jinggu point (base of the fifth metatarsal) is three cun. From Jinggu to the ground is one cun. The width behind the ear at the Wang Gu (mastoid process) is nine cun. The width in front of the ear at the Er Men point is one chi three cun. The distance between the two zygomatic bones is seven cun. The width between the two nipples is nine and a half cun. The width between the inner sides of the two thighs is six and a half cun. The foot length is one chi two cun, and the width is four and a half cun. From the shoulder to the elbow is one chi seven cun. From the elbow to the wrist is one chi one and a half cun. From the wrist to the proximal phalanx joint (Ben Jie) of the middle finger is four cun. From the Ben Jie to the fingertip is four and a half cun. From the hairline at the nape to the dorsal spine (Bei Gu) is two and a half cun. From the spinal column (Lu Gu) to the coccyx, comprising twenty-one vertebrae, is three chi. Each segment averages one and one-fourteenth cun, with the remainder calculated downwards. Thus, the total length from the upper seven segments to the Lu Gu (below T11) is nine and seven-eighths cun. These are the standard measurements of bones for ordinary people.
