(Previously mentioned in the sections on Dysentery and Intestinal Wind) Fuliu (KI7), Taichong (LR3), etc., (also seen in Dysentery treatment); Huiyang (BL35), (see Diarrhea section), governs hematochezia. (From *Qianjin Fang*) Xialian (ST37), Youmen (CV19), (*Mingtang* records are identical); Taibai (SP3), (see Vomiting and Diarrhea section), treats dysentery with pus and blood. (From *Tongren Shuxue Zhenjiu Tujing*) Taibai (SP3), treats vomiting, diarrhea accompanied by pus and blood. (See Abdominal Distension section) Xiaochangshu (BL27), treats passage of pus and blood in stool. (*Mingtang* records are identical) Xialiao (BL32), treats lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Fu'ai (ST25), treats passage of pus and blood in stool. (See Abdominal Pain section) *Qianjin Fang* also states: Cold invading the middle jiao causing food stagnation and abdominal pain. Laogong (PC8), (see Shaoyang Syndrome section), treats bleeding from both upper and lower orifices.
Lu's Continuation of Verified Prescriptions, treats persistent lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Measure the level between the center of the umbilicus and the spine. Moxa seven moxa cones at the point level with the spine on the back to stop bleeding immediately. If it recurs, moxa another seven cones. This can permanently eradicate the root cause. I have witnessed several people benefiting from this method. I once used this moxibustion technique for others suffering from intestinal wind, all of whom were cured of the root cause, with miraculous efficacy. However, one must press the bony prominence; only moxa if there is soreness. Do not moxa if there is no pain. Hematochezia originates from intestinal wind, which is essentially hemorrhoids; they should not be divided into three distinct conditions. Or if divided into three categories...
(Leakage sores, see Surgery section) Changqiang (GV1), treats intestinal wind with lower gastrointestinal bleeding. The five types of hemorrhoids, gan erosion of the lower body. The root cause of these hemorrhoids is cold; strictly avoid cold foods and sexual indulgence. (*Tongren* and *Mingtang* records are identical) *Qianjin Fang* says: Treat chronic hemorrhoids. Huiyin (CV2), treats anal pruritus and irritation. Chronic hemorrhoids communicating with the yin organs indicate a fatal prognosis. Fucheng (BL36), treats swelling of the gluteal region in chronic hemorrhoids, difficult defecation, cold in the yin uterus, and difficult urination. *Qianjin Fang* states: Treats the five types of hemorrhoids, expelling bright red blood, swelling in the gluteal region, difficult defecation, and difficult urination. Qihai Shu (BL24), treats hemorrhoidal disease with bloody discharge. (*Mingtang*) Feiyang (BL58) governs pain and injury at the anal aperture. Xiaxi (GB43), Yangfu (GB38), (*Tongren* same), Taichong (LR3) govern axillary swelling. Horse knife scrofula. (*Tongren* states: Taichong and Zulinqi treat horse knife sores.) Tiantu (CV22), Zhangmen (LR13), Tianchi (PC1), Zhigou (SJ6) govern fistulas. Tiantu (CV22), Tianchuang (SI16) govern fistula with neck pain. Changqiang (GV1) treats lower leakage. (*Mingtang* sees hemorrhoids; *Qianjin Fang* uses seeds of Lepidium and fermented soybean made into cakes for moxibustion on fistulas. *Waitai Mi Yao* states: Do not moxa head sores. The qi of Lepidium enters.)
Moxibustion method for hemorrhoids. If the disease is not deep, moxa one point below the sacrum near the anus, and it can be removed. As stated in *Chuanxin Fang*, first wash with decoction of aged Sophora branch, then moxa seven cones on top, highly effective. As recorded in *Bencao*, use only one handful of Isatis root, three bowls of water, boil down to one and a half bowls. While hot, fumigate and wash with a small-mouthed earthenware vessel to reduce swelling, then moxa on Yuan Sheng Shunai root. (Do not moxa the tip, as efficacy may be delayed.) If the disease is deep and washing does not reduce swelling, change the wash to resolve it, then moxa. Efficacy is achieved when the heat sensation reaches the chest. Even if the disease is deep, moxa more than twenty cones to permanently eradicate the root. Protect surrounding flesh with a bamboo splint. Perform moxibustion during cold weather, and avoid toxic foods. (*Jixiao Fang*)
*Qianjin Fang* for treating fistulas with moxibustion has several additional acupoints.
