Hou Bi (Throat Bi, commonly known as Hou Bi [throat closure], meaning obstruction and stagnation). This condition initially presents with a sensation of tightness in the chest and diaphragm and shortness of breath for two days. Suddenly, severe throat pain occurs, accompanied by cold extremities and suffocating breathlessness.
Shao Shang (Lung 11): To treat, press the patient's arm downward ten or more times, tie the base of the thumb tightly with an oil-soaked hair cord to pool blood at the fingertip, then prick to bleed; this resolves Throat Bi. For males, needle the left side first; for females, the right side first. One: In cases where the throat is swollen, painful, and obstructed, preventing the intake of water and food, additionally use a three-edged needle to prick three points in a row on the dorsal aspect of the first joint of the great toe, below the nail root.
Double Ru E (Double Tonsillar Abscess): When heat qi ascends, swelling on both sides of the throat is called Double Ru E; swelling on one side is called Single Ru E. The shape must be round and protruding like a breast, belonging to the category of carbuncles and sores, accumulating in the throat, thus often leading to the discharge of toxins. It may be appropriate to prick to release blood and needle the following acupoints. If the toxin is not severe and pus has not formed, treatment can naturally lead to resolution. If it arises below the pharynx, it is difficult to treat (The pharynx is located behind the larynx).
