Acupuncture and moxibustion methods for treating hemorrhoids: Select Chengshan (BL57) of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, and Changqiang (GV1) of the Du Vessel (from *Ling Shu*). ◎ For the five types of hemorrhoids accompanied by blood in stool, moxa-burn one hundred *zhuang* at Chunzhong (CV12 area/Spring Center), and another one hundred *zhuang* at Huiqi (CV4 area/Returning Qi) (from *De Xiao Fang*). ◎ To treat hemorrhoids, have the patient stand upright and measure the vertebra level with the umbilicus; moxa-burn seven *zhuang* on this vertebra. If the condition is chronic, additionally moxa-burn seven *zhuang* on each side, one cun lateral to this vertebra, to eradicate the root (from *De Xiao Fang*). ◎ For hemorrhoid pain, select Chengjin (BL56), Feiyang (BL58), Weizhong (BL40), Chengfu (BL36), Zanzhu (BL2), Huiyin (CV2), and Shangqiu (SP5) (from *Jia Yi Jing*). ◎ To treat various hemorrhoids and intestinal wind bleeding, moxa-burn at points one cun lateral to the lower border of the fourteenth thoracic vertebra; this is particularly effective for chronic hemorrhoids (from *Yi Xue Ru Men*). ◎ For rectal prolapse, select Dachangshu (BL25), Baihui (GV20), Changqiang (GV1), Jianjing (GB21), Hegu (LI4), and Qichong (ST30) (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ To treat rectal prolapse, moxa-burn Shenque (CV8/Umbilicus) according to the patient's age (*sui nian zhuang*); additionally moxa-burn Henggu (KI11) one hundred *zhuang*; and moxa-burn seven *zhuang* above the coccyx tip (from *De Xiao Fang*). ◎ In early-stage hemorrhoids, take head dandruff/scalp debris, shape it into a cake, place it on the hemorrhoid, then place a slice of garlic on top, and moxa-burn it (from *Dan Xi Xin Fa*). ◎ For hemorrhoidal fistulas, mix Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata powder with saliva to form a cake the size of a coin, place it over the fistula opening, and moxa-burn until slightly warm. Replace with a fresh cake when dry, continue moxa-burning the next day, until the tissue becomes flat and healed (from *Dan Xi Xin Fa*). ◎ One person contracted hemorrhoids while walking; the symptoms resembled a cucumber lodged in the intestine, with intense heat like fire, causing stiffness and collapse. Someone advised him to first wash the affected area with a strong decoction of Sophora branch, then moxa-burn the area three to five *zhuang*. Suddenly, he felt a stream of hot qi enter the intestine, followed by the discharge of bright red blood. Although there was temporary pain, the disease vanished instantly (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*).
Miscellaneous Diseases Chapter: Acupuncture and Moxibustion
For acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of stroke, nothing is better than formulas such as Xuming Tang. However, these can only support the initial stage of illness; if one desires complete recovery, fire therapy and moxibustion are superior. Stroke is caused by obstructed meridians and blocked qi and blood. Moxibustion can awaken the meridians and unblock qi and blood, thus achieving complete efficacy (from *De Xiao Fang*). ◎ In cases of stroke with excessive phlegm, where the voice sounds like a sawing motion and medication cannot be swallowed, it is suitable to moxa-burn Qihai (CV6) and Guanyuan (CV4) below the umbilicus for two to three hundred *zhuang*, which can reverse death and restore life. Even in critical conditions of five-zang qi exhaustion, moxibustion is suitable (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ When ordinary people experience sudden soreness, pain, numbness, and paralysis in the calves/shins or the index and middle fingers of the hands during non-standard seasons, which resolves only after a long time, this is a precursor sign of impending stroke. Urgently moxa-burn Zusanli (ST36) and Xuanzhong (GB39) three *zhuang* each. Regularly moxa-burn in spring and autumn, ideally resulting in moxa-blister scars on both feet (from *Zi Sheng Jing*). ◎ Those who do not believe in this method and refuse moxibustion may suddenly die; what disease is this? Answer: Wind entering the zang organs. Those suffering from wind diseases must know this (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ Whenever one feels numbness or pain in the limbs that lasts for a long time before resolving, this is a precursor sign of wind striking the fu-zang; it is suitable to moxa-burn Baihui (GV20), Qubin (GB7), Jianjing (GB21), Quchi (LI11), Fengshi (GB31), Zusanli (ST36), and Xuanzhong (GB39) (from *Zi Sheng Jing*). ◎ Whenever one feels mental confusion and dissatisfaction, or numbness and paralysis in the limbs, this is a precursor sign of wind striking the internal organs; it is suitable to moxa-burn Baihui (GV20), Fengchi (GB20), Dazhui (GV14), Jianjing (GB21), Quchi (LI11), Jianshi (PC5), and Zusanli (ST36) (from *Zi Sheng Jing*). ◎ Seven acupoints for treating wind: Baihui (GV20), hairline anterior to the ear, Jianjing (GB21), Fengshi (GB31), Zusanli (ST36), Xuanzhong (GB39), Quchi (LI11). Another prescription adds Fengchi (GB20), Hegu (LI4), Jianliao (TE14), and Huantiao (GB30), totaling nine points (from *Zi Sheng Jing*). ◎ All stroke cases should be treated with moxibustion on these points. ◎ For acute stroke with facial deviation, blockage, and unconsciousness, it is suitable to moxa-burn Tinghui (GB2), Jiache (ST6), Dicang (ST4), Baihui (GV20), Jianliao (TE14), Quchi (LI11), Fengshi (GB31), Zusanli (ST36), Xuanzhong (GB39), anterior hairline of the ear, Dazhui (GV14), and Fengchi (GB20), totaling twelve points (from *Shi Ben*). ◎ For stroke causing upward gaze and inability to see, moxa-burn seven *zhuang* above the second and fifth thoracic vertebrae simultaneously; immediate cure follows (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ For facial deviation, it is suitable to moxa-burn Tinghui (GB2), Jiache (ST6), and Dicang (ST4). Another method: if the mouth deviates to the right, moxa-burn the depression on the left temporal region; if to the left, moxa-burn the depression on the right temporal region, fourteen *zhuang* each, leading to immediate cure (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ For hemiplegia, it is suitable to moxa-burn Baihui (GV20), Xinhui (GV22), Fengchi (GB20), Jianliao (TE14), Quchi (LI11), Hegu (LI4), Huantiao (GB30), Fengshi (GB31), Zusanli (ST36), and Xuanzhong (GB39) (from *Zi Sheng Jing*). ◎ For lockjaw, needle Renzhong (GV26), Jiache (ST6), Baihui (GV20), Chengjiang (CV24), Hegu (LI4), and Yifeng (TE17); moxibustion is also applicable (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ For aphonia and inability to speak, needle Yamens (GV15), Renzhong (GV26), Tiantu (CV22), Yongquan (KI1), Shenmen (HT7), Zhigou (TE6), and Fengfu (GV16) (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ For stroke-induced hemiplegia, Huantiao (GB30) is the essential point (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ For treating stroke-induced hemiplegia, use the Great Connecting Meridian method: "From Yang guiding Yin," connect Zhiyin (BL67) with Yongquan (KI1), Zhongchong (PC9) with Guanchong (TE1), Xiaoyin (GB43) with Dadun (LR1), Shaoshang (LU11) with Shangyang (LI1), Lidui (ST45) with Yinbai (SP1), Shaochong (HT9) with Shaoze (SI1). ◎ The Great Connecting Meridian "From Yin guiding Yang": connect Shaoshang (LU11) with Shangyang (LI1), Lidui (ST45) with Yinbai (SP1), Shaochong (HT9) with Shaoze (SI1), Zhiyin (BL67) with Yongquan (KI1), Zhongchong (PC9) with Guanchong (TE1), Xiaoyin (GB43) with Dadun (LR1). These are the Jing-Well points of the twelve meridians. Luo Qianfu cured Zhao Sengpan's stroke affecting the zang organs by needling the twelve Jing-Well points, and cured Zhang Anfu's stroke affecting the zang organs by moxa-burning the twelve Jing-Well points (from *Jian Shi*). ◎ For bone bi syndrome, select Taixi (KI3) and Weizhong (BL40); for tendon bi, select Taichong (LR3) and Yanglingquan (GB34); for vessel bi, select Tailing (PC5) and Shaohai (HT3); for muscle bi, select Taibai (SP3) and Zusanli (ST36); for skin bi, select Taiyuan (LU9) and Hegu (LI4) (from *Ben Cao Gang Mu*). ◎ Bi syndrome is suitably treated with burning needles (fire needles) for rapid stimulation, using the sensation of efficacy as the dosage standard and the painful area as the Shu point. This means that after needling, the degree of treatment is determined by the therapeutic response, and the painful site serves as the Shu point, rather than selecting fixed points from specific meridians (from *Ling Shu*). ◎ To treat Li Jie Feng (rheumatoid arthritis/joint pain), use the same method as above, but moxa-burn twenty-one *zhuang* at the painful site, which is also excellent (from *Qian Jin Fang*). ◎ For generalized joint soreness and pain with unknown etiology, puncture Xuanzhong (GB39) with a three-edged needle to release blood for immediate cure (from Dong Yuan).
