Indications: Bi syndrome of the elbow joint, inability to raise the arm, numbness, lethargy.
**Wuli (LI13)** is located 3 cun superior to the elbow, on the inner side of the major artery. **Contraindication:** Do not needle or moxa. If moxa, limit to 10 cones per day.
Indications: Wind consumption, fright, hematemesis, cough, lethargy, unbearable elbow and arm pain, distension, rebellious qi, chills and fever, scrofula, visual disturbances, malaria. ○ Combined with Binao (LI14) to cure scrofula (from *Baizheng Fu*).
**Binao (LI14)** is located on the lateral aspect of the arm, 3 cun distal to Jianyu (LI15). Needle depth: 3 fen; moxibustion: 3 cones. Mingtang classifies as contraindicated for needling/moxa, but allows up to 100 cones daily.
Indications: Arm pain and weakness, chills and fever, scrofula, neck stiffness. ○ Treats goiter; moxibustion according to age (from *Qianjin Fang*). Combined with Wuli (LI13) to cure scrofula (from *Baizheng Fu*).
**Jianyu (LI15)** is located in the depression below the acromion process; an empty space appears when the arm is raised. Needle depth: 6 fen; retain needle for six exhalations; moxibustion: 3 to 49 cones, until recovery.
Indications: Stroke, hemiplegia, inability to draw a bow. Zhen Quan inserted the needle here to shoot arrows. ○ For hemiplegia, moxibustion from 7 to 49 cones; do not exceed this amount to avoid arm atrophy. However, if wind disease causes long-term weakness of muscles and bones, more moxibustion is safe. Moxibustion is inferior to needling; avoid alcohol, meat, and pungent spices. Primarily drains heat from the four limbs, similar to Yunmen (LU2), Weizhong (BL40), and Yaoshu (BL23). ○ For goiter, moxibustion is symmetrical: males left 18, right 17 cones; females right 18, left 17 cones, repeated until recovery (from *Qianjin Fang*). Treats wind-dampness attacking both shoulders (from *Yulong Fu*). For arm contracture and pain, select Jianyu (LI15) (from *Tianxing Mijue*). Combined with Yangxi (LI5) to eliminate extreme heat from wind-rash (from *Baizheng Fu*).
**Jugu (SI1)** is located in the depression anterior to the tip of the greater tubercle of the humerus, above Jianyu (LI15). Needle depth: 1.5 cun; moxibustion: 3 or 5 cones. **Contraindication:** Do not needle on the same day.
Indications: Convulsive epilepsy, hematemesis, blood stasis in the chest, arm pain with inability to flex or extend.
**Tianding (SI14)** is located 1.4 cun medial to Jianjing (GB21), below the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Needle depth: 3 fen; moxibustion: 3 cones.
Indications: Bi syndrome of the throat, pharyngeal swelling, dysphagia, sudden aphonia, qi obstruction. ○ Combined with Jianshi (PC5) to treat aphonia.
**Futu (SI16)** is located 1.5 cun posterior to Yingchang (ST9), 1.2 cun anterior to Tianding (SI14). Needle depth: 4 fen; moxibustion: 3 cones. *Jia Yi Jing* states: needle depth 3 fen.
Indications: Cough, excessive saliva, rising qi, asthma, gurgling sound in the throat, sudden aphonia, broken qi, neck goiter.
**Heliao (SI18)** is located directly below the nostril, 0.5 cun lateral to Shuigou (GV26). Needle depth: 3 fen; moxibustion: 3 cones.
Indications: Corpse-like fainting, inability to open the mouth, nasal sores, nasal polyps, nasal congestion, rhinitis with epistaxis. ○ Prick both nasal alae for epistaxis (from *Lingguang Fu*).
**Yingxiang (LI20)** is located in the nasolabial groove. Needle depth: 3 fen. **Contraindication:** Do not moxa.
Indications: Nasal congestion with loss of smell and taste, nasal polyps, excessive discharge, nasal sores, rhinitis with epistaxis, dyspnea, facial deviation, edema, wind-induced facial itching resembling insect crawling. ○ Effectively reduces redness from eye heat and clears nasal obstruction (from *Yulong Fu*). For deafness and qi blockage, needling Tinghui (GB2) followed by reducing this point is effective (from *Xi Hong Fu*).
