Treating Yin-toxin Cold Damage (Yin-Du Shanghan), presenting with mental restlessness and irritability, headache, and cold extremities.
Sulfur (San Liang), Taiyin Xuanjing Stone, Niter (each Er Liang), Aconitum Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Ban Liang, processed), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ban Liang), Cinnamomi Cortex (Ban Liang).
Take the above herbs. In a raw iron pot, spread half of the powdered Taiyin Xuanjing Stone at the bottom, then spread half of the Niter. Place the powdered Sulfur in the middle, cover the Sulfur with the remaining Niter, and finally cover everything with the remaining Taiyin Xuanjing Stone. Cover with a small cup. Burn using three Jin of charcoal powder until the appropriate heat is achieved; do not allow smoke to escape. Wait until it cools down completely before removing. Grind finely into a flour-like consistency. Then, crush and sieve the other three herbs into powder, mix evenly with the previous mixture, and bind with soft rice to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take fifteen pills per dose, administered with Mugwort Decoction. Administer frequently until sweating occurs. For severe cases, increase the dose to thirty pills. This prescription is highly effective; for patients with panting and vomiting, symptoms cease immediately upon ingestion.
The above entry shares similar ingredients with Dansha Wan (Cinnabar Pill). It should be used according to the method of treating the mutual concealment of Yin and Yin-toxins.

Haizang stated: Zhang Zhongjing’s Baitong Tang (White Tong Decoction) and Tongmai Sini Tang (Pulse-Returning Si Ni Decoction) use Porcine Bile (bitter and cold) and Human Urine (salty and cold). Cheng Wuji explained: This is to overcome the rejection by cold. Sun Zhao’s Pili San (Thunderbolt Powder) uses honey water; Huoren Shu’s Pili San and Huoyan San (Flame Powder) use aged tea; Fanyin Dan (Return-Yin Pill) uses Niter; Xu Xueshi’s Zhengyuan San (Upright Origin Powder) uses Rheum Radix et Rhizoma. These methods share the same intent as using Porcine Bile and Human Urine in Baitong Tang and Tongmai Sini Tang: all are employed to overcome the rejection by cold. Among these hot-natured prescriptions, some use Ephedrae Herba, some use Cimicifugae Rhizoma, and some use Peucedani Radix. This is done to follow the meridian pathways. Those who master the art of modifying decoctions must understand this principle.
