Grind all together into an extremely fine powder, store in a porcelain bottle, ensuring no gas escapes; whenever an injury occurs, first take 7 li of the powder, mix with distilled liquor (Shaojiu) for oral administration, then apply externally mixed with distilled liquor according to the size of the wound. If the injury from metal blades is severe, or if the throat is severed with unceasing bleeding, immediately sprinkle this dry powder on the wound to stop bleeding and relieve pain instantly. Other contusions should be treated similarly by mixing and applying externally; this also treats all kinds of unnamed swellings and toxins using the same method. In cases of battlefield injuries where life is nearly lost, there have been numerous miraculous recoveries from near death. It is even more effective if prepared at noon on the Dragon Boat Festival. Pregnant women should avoid this. The Prefect of Guilin transmitted this formula; various prefectures and counties prepare it according to the method. When individuals severely injured in brawls are brought for examination, treating them according to this formula has repeatedly shown remarkable efficacy. The injured are saved, and the perpetrators may avoid the death penalty; this is indeed a great virtue of virtuous officials showing compassion for life and reducing punishments.
