Use *Borax* (Pengsha, 硼砂) and *Alumen* (Baifan, 白矾), each two qian (approx. 6g), ground into powder, and take with a decoction prepared from *Indigofera tinctoria* flower (Dianhua, 靛花).
Another prescription: *Arisaema cum Bile* (Nanting, 南星) eight qian (approx. 24g), *Costus Root* (Muxiang, 木香) one qian (approx. 3g, ground into powder), and ten slices of fresh ginger. Decoct in water and take orally.
Furthermore, for patients suffering from stroke-induced aphasia (Zhongfeng buyu, 中风不语), do not immediately administer ginger soup. First, administer one cup of pure sesame oil; once the patient can groan, then administer ginger soup, which will lead to recovery.
This method is also used to treat Yin-type Cold Damage (Yinzheng Shanghan, 阴症伤寒). Mix one qian (approx. 3g) of calcined alum (Kufan, 枯矾), one qian (approx. 3g) of saltpeter (Huoxiao, 火硝), one qian (approx. 3g) of pepper (Hujiao, 胡椒), one qian (approx. 3g) of red lead (Huandan, 黄丹), and five fen (approx. 1.5g) of clove (Dingxiang, 丁香) into a fine powder. Blend with aged vinegar to form a paste, hold it in the palm of the hand—left hand for males, right hand for females—and tightly bind the hand with cotton cloth. After a prolonged period, sweating will occur, leading to recovery.
Another prescription: Take a bunch of old scallions roughly the size of a teacup, slice them to a thickness of one finger using a sharp knife, apply them to the umbilicus, and iron over them with a hot ironing device until self-healing occurs.
In cases following severe vomiting and diarrhea, characterized by cold limbs, chronic lower abdominal pain, retraction of the kidneys accompanied by cold sweat, etc.: First, crush white parts of green onions, stir-fry until hot, and apply as a compress to the umbilicus. Then, crush three stalks of white onion parts, mix with hot wine, and administer orally to restore consciousness immediately.
Take a handful of salt and rub it vigorously on eight specific areas: both wrists, both hypochondriac regions, both soles of the feet, the epigastrium, and the back center. Rub until numerous purple-red spots appear; gradual relief indicates recovery. This is the first simple and effective prescription for all types of cold sha, heat sha, heatstroke, and cholera, and serves as an excellent emergency rescue method.
Take a large pinch of pigeon droppings, grind into a fine powder, and take with boiling wine. Cover with blankets to keep warm and sleep for a while; sweating leads to recovery. Permanently prohibit the consumption of pigeons to prevent recurrence.
Additionally, for acute cases of Yin syndrome presenting with purple-black hands and feet: urgently use three he (approx. 90ml) of black soybeans (*Soja max* var. *niger*, Heiliaodou, 黑料豆) stir-fried until cooked, add three large roots of scallions with roots attached (Lianxu Congbai, 连须葱白), and decoct in good wine until boiling. Drink while hot for immediate effect. Lifelong avoidance of black carp is required.
When both legs are numb and insensible, accompanied by aversion to cold, muscle cramps, and a curved waist that cannot straighten, this condition is named Diaojiao Sha (吊脚痧, "hanging leg sha," a type of acute epidemic disease characterized by calf cramps). Upon onset of cramps, tightly bind the area below the knees with cloth. Immediately refer to the method of puncturing the *Weizhong* acupoint (BL40, 委中穴) described in Volume 15 to bleed out evil blood. Simultaneously, mix pure mung bean flour with well water, part the patient's hair, and continuously rub the mixture onto the crown of the head. Alternatively, administer a mixture of mung beans and talc powder blended with well water, or decoct mung beans and talc for oral administration to achieve stability. This is an epidemic disease; if treatment is delayed, it becomes difficult to save the patient.
