After five or six days, the smallpox should have fully erupted. To observe whether the eruption is complete, verify using the soles of the feet; if there are lesions on the soles, the eruption is complete. However, for cases with sparse lesions, this rule does not strictly apply; generally, the eruption is considered complete when the fever subsides. If the fever has not subsided, even if there are lesions on the limbs, it is feared that the eruption is not yet complete. Do not assume that mild toxicity and few lesions mean one can neglect care.
