Also known as "Riding Carbuncle" (Qima Yong) or "Hanging Carbuncle" (Xuanyong). Whenever one feels swelling and pain behind the glans penis and in front of the anus, use a large amount of raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao) to decoct a concentrated juice to drink instead of tea. Taking it frequently is advisable to neutralize the toxicity. Externally, use wild Perilla Frutescens Folium (Ye Zisu Ye) (specifically those with green upper surfaces and purple undersides), dry them by roasting, grind into powder, mix with Sesame Oil (MAYOU) for application. Applying it early is best to dissipate the swelling.
Use two jin (approx. 1 kg) of scallion white bulbs with roots intact, crush them, stir-fry until hot, divide into two portions, wrap each in cloth, and apply alternating heat compresses below the umbilicus to restore urination. Adding Moschus (Shexiang) can accelerate the effect.
Another prescription: Two liang (approx. 75 g) of Sodium Chloride (Yan), heated, mixed with two sheng (approx. 400 ml) of warm water for oral administration. Stimulate vomiting by inserting a finger into the throat. Once the upper orifice is unblocked, the lower orifice will also be patent; this is a truly ingenious method.
Another prescription: Trichosanthis Semen (Gualou Ren) in any quantity, ground into powder. Take three qian (approx. 11 g) per dose, mixed with warm wine. For those who do not drink alcohol, rice soup may be used instead. Continue until urination is restored.

Additionally, Porcine Bile (Zhudan Zhi) mixed with hot wine and taken orally.
Additionally, Livistona chinensis fiber (Zongmao) carbonized but retaining its medicinal properties, ground into powder, taken with light wine to restore urination.
Another prescription: Caulis Cinnamomi Cacumen (Zaoxintu/Furnax Terra) ground into powder, mixed with cold water, applied to the umbilicus to restore urination.
Additionally, take a handful of Triticum aestivum stem (Xiaomaijie), decoct in water, and drink. Alternatively, decoct scallions in water and drink.
Additionally, for urinary retention, use Daochi San (Decoction for Redirecting Heat to the Small Intestine): Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi) three qian (11 g), Paefiae Radix Rubra (Chishao) and Akebiae Caulis (Mutong) two qian (7.5 g) each, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma caulis (Sheng Gancao Shao) three qian (11 g). Decoct in water and take orally. This is an essential herb for promoting urination. If ineffective, add Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma) five fen (approx. 2 g) to raise the clear and descend the turbid, yielding remarkable results.
Another prescription: Akebiae Caulis (Mutong), Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi), Talcum (Huashi), Plantaginis Semen (Cheqianzi), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao) in equal parts. Decoct in water and take orally.
