Sanqi leaves, crushed to extract juice and applied into the eyes; recovery occurs after several applications. Alternatively, Sanqi can be ground with water and dripped into the eyes, which has proven miraculous upon repeated trials. Furthermore, using pumpkin juice or sunflower oil for eye application, as mentioned in the previous two prescriptions, is also extremely effective. The pumpkin prescription is also effective for eye injuries caused by falls and blows.
Huisheng First Immortal Pill (Resurrection First Immortal Pill): Treats conditions such as fall injuries, crush injuries, beating injuries, knife wounds, gunshot wounds, throat cutting, hanging death, shock-induced death, and drowning death (thunderstrike death has not been tested but is presumed treatable). Even if the body suffers severe trauma throughout and death has occurred for several days, as long as the body remains somewhat soft, administering this pill orally will result in faint breath within a short time. A second dose restores life. Passing dark purple blood in stool is particularly auspicious. However, cases with stiff bodies are difficult to save. This is a family secret recipe from Minbu Peng Zhulou of Yuzhang. In the early Daoguang era, when Minbu served as magistrate of Zhili, a man had been beaten to death for three days. Upon inspection, Minbu found his limbs still soft. He pried open a tooth and administered 1.5 fen of this pill. After a short while, the corpse moved slightly; another 1.5 fen restored him to life. Among those beaten to death one or two days prior, many were fully saved, resulting in no homicide cases all year. During an earthquake in Cizhou at that time, many were crushed to death. Minbu prepared the pills and sent people urgently to rescue them, saving no fewer than a thousand people. It possesses the miraculous power of bringing the dead back to life, truly being the "First Immortal Pill of Thousand Stones." If one shares this prescription and dispenses medicine, saving one life can preserve two lives, creating boundless merit.
Huo Tubie Chong (Living Ground Beetle / *Eupolyphaga sinensis*): Also known as Dibie or Boji Chong. Flat-shaped, unable to fly, varying in size, black and shiny, with transverse ridges on the back, narrow at the front and wide at the rear. Those the size of a thumb are best; smaller ones have slower efficacy, and males are preferable. Cut a specimen in half with a knife, place it on the ground, cover with a bowl overnight. If the worm reconnects and revives, it is male. They are found everywhere, often in places with rice bran in rice stores, under mortar stains, in warehouse bottoms, and near stove bases. More abundant near stoves in winter. Also found in flour shops, oil presses, and dry empty houses. Search in loose soil. Collect live specimens, remove legs, and place on tiles (text implies processing/storage details).
Yuzhen Powder: Treats open wounds from falls and blows, regardless of size, accompanied by unconsciousness, wound ulceration with wind invasion, deviation of mouth and eyes, and convulsions of hands and feet resembling a curved bow. As long as the area above the heart remains slightly warm, apply this powder to the wound (if there is much pus, wash gently with warm tea avoiding wind before applying; if no pus, washing is unnecessary). Additionally, take 3 qian mixed with hot wine (or boiling water if non-drinker) orally, which can also bring the dead back to life. Cases with vomiting are difficult to treat. Although the ingredients are common, the effect is miraculous, surpassing formulas like Qili San and Tieshan Fang. Ingredients are easy to find without fakes and are inexpensive. Sharing the formula or dispensing medicine brings great merit. Tianma (*Gastrodiae Rhizoma*), Qianghuo (*Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix*), Fangfeng (*Saposhnikoviae Radix*), Sheng Nanting (*Arisaematis Rhizoma*, stir-fried with ginger juice), Baizhi (*Angelicae Dahuricae Radix*) each 1 liang, Baifuzi (*Typhonii Rhizoma*) 12 liang, Shexiang (*Musk*) 3 fen (sealed with wax for storage; taken with sugar water).
Danggui Decoction: Treats closed wounds from falls and blows; its function is to dissipate stasis and invigorate blood circulation. Even if vital signs have ceased, removing a tooth and administering the decoction can restore life. This is a prescription from Shaolin Temple instructors. Danggui (*Angelicae Sinensis Radix*) and Zexie (*Alismatis Rhizoma*) each 5 qian, Chuanxiong (*Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma*), Honghua (*Carthami Flos*), Taoren (*Persicae Semen*), Danpi (*Moutan Cortex*) each 3 qian, Suomu (*Sappan Lignum*) 2 qian. Decoct with equal parts wine and water until reduced to 60%, then take orally. For head injuries, add Gaoben (*Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma et Radix*) 1 qian; for hand injuries, add Guizhi (*Cinnamomi Ramulus*) 1 qian; for waist injuries, add Duzhong (*Eucommiae Cortex*) 1 qian; for rib/flank injuries, add Baijiezi (*Sinapis Semen*) 1 qian; for foot injuries, add Niuxi (*Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix*) 1 qian.
Baitang Yin (White Sugar Drink): For fall/blow injuries where the patient appears dead with clenched jaws, first rub Banxia (*Pinelliae Rhizoma*) on the cheeks to open the jaw. Immediately administer 2-2 liang of white sugar dissolved in hot wine orally (water may be used if non-drinker); more is better. Regardless of injury severity, this prevents blood stasis from attacking the heart. It is extremely stable and effective; do not neglect it.
Another Prescription: For apnea without loss of consciousness, urgently grind fresh Banxia into powder, mix with water to form a soybean-sized ball, and insert into the nostril (left for males, right for females) to induce awakening. If nasal pain occurs after waking, rubbing old ginger juice resolves it.
Another Prescription: Use a live chicken, split open with feathers intact, remove internal organs, avoid water contact, and apply/compress over the injured area. Even in critical condition, if the chest remains slightly warm, immediate awakening occurs. Subsequently treat with medication, continuing to consume white sugar is essential.
Another Prescription: Wild chrysanthemum flowers and roots, dried in shade. Use 1 liang per dose, decoct with 1 bowl of wine and 1 bowl of child's urine (*Tongbian*). If there is any breath remaining, revival is certain.
Another Prescription: Xiantao Cao (*Peucedani Japonici Herba* or similar local herb), whole plant including roots, dried in shade and powdered. Take 1-2 qian per dose with boiled water. Even in severe, critical injuries, effects are seen immediately. An anecdote: A thief in Jiangnan lay dying by the road with multiple wounds. A passerby felt pity and asked villagers for water. The thief took this herb, mixed it with water, and drank it. Within half an hour, sounds were heard from his wounds, and he stood up and walked. Inquiry revealed this herb grows in wheat fields, has small leaves and red stems, and seeds the size of peppercorns containing a worm. It should be harvested 15 days before and after the Minor Heat solar term; too early and the worm hasn't formed, too late and it has flown away—without the worm, it is ineffective. It is reported that in Yangshuo, Guangxi, a similar herb called Maigan Cao exists, with worms appearing in August and September suitable for harvesting.
