This is a deficiency of both Qi and Blood, requiring urgent and vigorous tonification. It is absolutely imperative to avoid administering cold-natured medicines; otherwise, it will inevitably develop into slow convulsion syndrome (a pediatric severe condition characterized by spasms and coma), making treatment even more difficult. One must invite a renowned physician to provide careful conditioning and management, without neglecting the case. If the fontanelle at the vertex sinks, especially urgent treatment is required.
Sores on the upper lip with internal organ erosion by parasites are named "Hu" (Fox); sores on the lower lip with anal erosion by parasites are named "Huo" (Confusion). Both arise from internal heat generating parasites that consume the Zang-Fu organs internally, resulting in such ulcerative lesions. The patient invariably exhibits symptoms of drowsiness, loss of appetite, hoarseness, and unclear voice, which constitutes Hu-Huo disease. Without timely treatment, it leads to nasal collapse, tooth loss, aphonia, and death. Chue Ti Wan (Pill for Removing Hidden Evils) is indicated for treatment. Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) 2 qian, Aloe (Luhui) 1.3 qian, Quisqualis Fructus (Shiren) 3 qian, Xanthium Strumarium Seed (Bai Wuyi) 1.5 qian, Bombyx Batryticatus (Chantui) 3 fen (calcined to ash), and Toosendan Fructus (Chuanshanjiazi) 1 qian are all ground into fine powder. A Chinese plum (Wumei) is washed, pitted, and mashed, then mixed with the powder to form pills, which are taken with rice soup.
This indicates residual toxins flowing into the Stomach Meridian, likely to develop into zouma yagan (gangrenous stomatitis progressing rapidly like a running horse). If not treated urgently, the gums will subsequently rot, losing one tooth daily until all teeth in the mouth fall out, leading to death. When itching occurs at the affected site, immediately decoct Forsythiae Fructum (Lianqiao), Arctii Fructum (Niubangzi), Colocasia Esculenta Tuber (Cigu), Gypsum Fibrosum (Shigao), Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi), Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (Yinhua), Carthami Flos (Honghua), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) in water, and gargle frequently in the mouth.
Natrii Urotas (Renzhongbai) 1 qian, Viriditas Cupri (Tonglv) 1.5 fen, and Moschus (Shexiang) 1 fen are ground together into fine powder. First, rinse the teeth and mouth thoroughly with strong tea, then apply the powder with a finger to the affected area for immediate cure. Alternatively, refer to the formulas in Volume I under the Dental section for treatment.
Another prescription: Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu) and Pinelliae Tuber (Banxia), both raw and in equal parts, are ground into powder, mixed with raw albumen ovii (egg white) to form a paste applied to the sole of the foot (Yongquan point). Wash off after one week; for severe cases, continue application for several days. The effect is miraculous.
Fine tea leaf powder, taken with refined sugar.
Another prescription: Salted ginger and fine tea leaves, chewed and eaten together.
Another prescription: Treat according to the formula for salivation at the corners of the mouth in the Oral section.
Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) and Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), each 5 fen; Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), Scrophulariae Radix (Yuanshen), Arctii Fructum (Shuniuzi/Niuzi), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), and Belamcandae Rhizoma (Shegan), each 3 fen. Decoct in water and take orally.
