[Ping An]: This chapter, from beginning to end, is found in Chapter 22 "Dian Kuang" (Mania and Epilepsy) of Volume 5 of *Ling Shu* (Spiritual Pivot). From the beginning to "li kuai zhe" (immediate relief), it is found in Chapter 3 of Volume 7 of *Jia Yi Jing* (The Classic of A-Bio Points). From "nei bi bu de sou" (internal blockage with inability to urinate) to the end, it is found in Chapter 10 of Volume 9 of *Jia Yi Jing*.
In the disease of Jue Ni (Reversal Cold), there is sudden coldness in the feet, a sensation in the chest as if it were separating, a sensation in the abdomen as if being cut by a blade, mental restlessness, inability to eat, and the pulse, whether large or small, appears choppy and slow/weak. Treatment involves selecting points on the Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney) Meridian; if the foot is warm, use the reducing method; if the foot is cold, use the reinforcing method. (Note: In the disease of Jue Ni, cold feet and chest pain, chest oppression and inability to eat, the pulse movement's size all indicates abundant blood but deficient Qi. If slow and warm, one may select the Shu-Stream point of Foot-Shaoyin to reduce heat qi. If the foot is cold, select the Shu-Stream point of Foot-Yangming to reinforce Yang deficiency. Ping An: *Ling Shu* and *Jia Yi Jing* read "jiang lie" instead of "jiang bie"; "mai xiao da jie se" instead of "mai xiao da jie ...". The three characters "bao ..., qu zu yang ming, ze bu zhi" are all read as "qing" in current editions of *Ling Shu* and *Jia Yi Jing*, and in the Ming Zhao Fu Ju Jing Tang edition of *Ling Shu* are read as "...", "fu" as "chang", "ren" as "dao", "huan" as "nuan".)
Jue Ni causes abdominal fullness, distension, and borborygmus (intestinal rumbling), chest fullness, and dyspnea (difficulty breathing). One should select points located at the lower chest, second rib area, where hand movement occurs during coughing, as well as corresponding Back-Shu points on the back; points that provide immediate relief when pressed with fingers. (Note: In chest fullness and dyspnea due to Jue Ni, one may measure the location at the lower chest, second rib, where hand movement occurs during coughing, referring to the Zhongfu point of Hand-Taiyin. For abdominal fullness, distension, and borborygmus due to Jue Ni, one measures the Back-Shu points of the Stomach and Large/Small Abdomen to treat the main disease. Ping An: *Ling Shu* reads "zhang man" instead of "man zhang", "er xie" instead of "er lei". *Jia Yi Jing* adds "ying" after "dong", "shu" as "yu", *Ling Shu* writes "...". Note "bei wei", according to the text it should be "bei shu", Yuan edition writes "bei shu".)
Internal blockage with inability to urinate requires needling the Foot-Shaoyin (Kidney) Meridian, Foot-Taiyang (Bladder) Meridian, and using long needles at upper body points; if accompanied by rebellious Qi, select points from Hand-Taiyin (Lung) and Foot-Yangming (Stomach) Meridians; if the Jue condition is severe, select the meridians of Hand-Shaoyin (Heart) and Foot-Yangming (Stomach) where arterial pulsation is prominent. (Note: Foot-Shaoyin and Foot-Taiyang govern urination and defecation; thus, for Jue with urinary retention, one selects the Shu-Stream points of these two Yin-Yang meridians to treat the main disease. If added with rebellious Qi, one may select points from Hand-Foot Taiyin and Yangming to treat the main disease. If this blockage and rebellious Qi lead to severe Jue, one may select the arterial meridians of Hand-Foot Shaoyin and Yangming to treat the main disease. Ping An: *Ling Shu* adds "yin" after "jue". "Jue shen qu shao yin" in *Jia Yi Jing* reads "jue shen qu tai yin".)
