Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and Renshen (Ginseng Radix) are decocted in water and swallowed slowly.
Huadu Tang (Detoxification Decoction)
Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) 5 qian, Bohe Ye (Menthae Haplocalycis Folium) and Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica) each 2 qian, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 2.5 qian,
Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas Crystallizatus) 1 qian, Shandougen (Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix) 1.5 qian, Yaxiao (Natrii Sulfas Exsiccatus) and Pengsha (Borisovi Borax) each 2.5 qian, Xionghuang (Realgar) and Chensha (Cinnabaris) each 2 qian. Grind into a fine powder, insufflate into the affected area, or mix with water for oral administration.
Crush the root of Jinfenghua (likely *Aristolochia* species or similar local herb) and decoct it with rice vinegar. Store in a bottle with a spout. Hold the spout in the mouth, tilt the head back, and swallow; the bone will be expelled. Ensure the liquid does not touch the teeth while swallowing [41].
The root of Yuzanhua (Hemerocallis minor) or Weilingxian (Sinomenii Caulis) can also be used, following the same method as above.
Use half a bowl of clean water. Write "Longshi Huodi" (Dragon Master Fire Emperor) seven times in one breath, then drink the water for immediate effect.

The throat of infants is critical to life. Heat toxins accumulate between the diaphragm and chest, causing wind-phlegm to stagnate. Although there are various types of diseases, treatment should prioritize resolving phlegm, followed by dispelling wind-heat for recovery. There are also incurable complications.
If there is a disease in the throat, treatment must distinguish severity. For mild cases, start with Ganjie San (Licorice and Platycodon Powder); for severe cases, administer Huadu Tang (Detoxification Decoction). If the throat is swollen and the jaw is locked, use Kaiguan San (Opening Gate Powder) for fumigation. For acute Houfeng (Throat Wind), use Tongshen San (Spirit-Unblocking Powder) to induce vomiting of phlegm, reduce swelling, and alleviate the disease.
For unilateral or bilateral Ezheng (Goose Throat/Tonsillar hypertrophy), physicians must not act recklessly. Use acupuncture for conditions suitable for needling, and avoid it when contraindicated. Initially use only fumigation and渗 (percolation/dripping) medications; after swelling subsides, proceed with subsequent treatments. Apply Chansu Ding (Toad Venom Tablet) to sores/ulcers, and the toxin will naturally dissipate, which is fortunate.
Hair is the surplus of blood and the external manifestation of the Kidney. If an infant's hair fails to grow for a long time, or grows but is thin and blackless, this is due to Kidney Qi deficiency leading to insufficient Qi and Blood. Treat with Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill).
Teeth are the surplus of bones, and bones are governed by the Kidney. If teeth fail to erupt for a long time, or erupt unevenly, this is due to Kidney deficiency. Treat with Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill).
Why do some children walk late? Bones are nourished by Marrow. If Qi and Blood are not abundant, Marrow cannot fill the bones, resulting in weakness and inability to walk. This results from simultaneous deficiency of the Kidney and Liver. The Liver governs Sinews; weak sinews prevent early walking. The Kidney governs Bones; weak bones lack firmness. Treat with Jiawei Dihuang Wan (Modified Rehmannia Pill).
Thin calves result from insufficient congenital endowment and inadequate Qi and Blood, leading to emaciated muscles and exposed joints, resembling the knees of a crane. This is also due to Kidney deficiency, named He Xi Jie (Crane Knee Joint). Treat with Jiawei Dihuang Wan (Modified Rehmannia Pill).
After severe illness in infants, if hands and feet are flaccid, or after convulsions if hands and feet are weak and slow, treat with Ji Jian Dihuang Wan (Reduced and Added Rehmannia Pill).
Delayed speech occurs because during gestation, the mother was affected by shock and pathogenic qi invading the Heart. The fetus senses the mother's Qi, leading to unsettled Heart Spirit, which fails to nourish the tongue, causing delayed speech. Treat with Changpu Wan (Acorus Pill).
Following vomiting, diarrhea, or severe illness, if the child has voice but cannot speak yet can take medicine, aside from these, aphonia is due to Kidney Weakness failing to connect upward with Yang. Treat with Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill).
Sudden loss of voice due to extreme cold is caused by Lung Wind Pathogen. Treat with Jiawei Xiebai San (Modified White Powder for Draining).
Gui Xiong (Turtle Chest) features a high, swollen chest resembling a turtle shell, caused by Lung Heat. Treat with Ji Tingli Wan (Modified Descurainia Pill).
Gui Bei (Turtle Back) involves stooping while sitting or lying, resembling a turtle's back. It is caused by exogenous Wind invading the spine and entering the bone marrow. This condition often becomes chronic. Occasionally, moxa is applied to Feishu (BL13, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra) and Geshu (BL17, 1.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the 7th thoracic vertebra). While this may yield results, it is not always fully effective. Treat with Zhike Wan (Citrus Aurantium Pill).
