Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Houpo), Polyporus (Zuling), Alismatis Rhizoma (Zexie), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Poria (Baifuling), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi), Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guangui).

The nature of this medicine is warm; it can tonify the deficiency of Yuan Qi (Original Qi).
Panax Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Poria (Baifuling), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao). Use one cup of water, three slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), and two dates (Zao), decoct with water and take warm.

The nature of this medicine is warm and astringent; thus it stops sliding diarrhea (prolapse/loose stools).
Cardamomi Fructus (Neikou) (stir-baked with flour) 5 qian, Halloysit Rubra (Chishizhi) 7.5 qian, Aucklandiae Radix (Guangmuxiang) 2 qian, Amomi Fructus (Sharen) 2 qian, Alum (Kufan) 0.75 qian, Os Draconis (Bailonggu) 5 qian, Terminaliae Chebulae Fructus (Hezi) 5 qian. Grind all into fine powder, make pills with rice paste, and swallow with aged rice soup.

This is the sacred medicine for treating thirst.
Panax Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Poria (Baifuling), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang), Agastaches Herba (Huoxiangye), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) each 1 liang, Puerariae Lobatae Radix (Gange) 2 qian. Grind into coarse powder, use 1-2 qian per dose, guide with three slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), decoct with water until very concentrated. *Xiuzhen Fang* records: here refers to not Puerariae Lobatae Radix (Gange), but Zingiberis Rhizoma (Shengjiang).

This is the sacred medicine for treating deficiency heat.
Astragali Membranacei Radix (Huangqi), Panax Ginseng Radix (Renshen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao). If the heat does not subside, add Zingiberis Rhizoma (Shengjiang) for effect.
If there is body heat with cold hands and feet, add one piece of Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix (Shu Fuzi), decoct and take.

Ancestral experience treats persistent diarrhea regardless of cold or heat patterns, using only Weiling Wan (Stomach and Cold Pill) combined with Yili Jin Dan (One Pill Golden Elixir). Take with decoction of Plantaginis Herba (Cheqiancao) stir-fried with rice.
For chronic diarrhea that does not stop, if the spirit is good, face is red, and lips are pink, it is incurable.
For chronic diarrhea that does not stop, if thirst persists without relief, it is incurable.
For chronic diarrhea that does not stop, if the pulse is deep and fine, skin is cold all over, appetite for milk/food is absent, and loose stools slide uncontrollably, it is incurable.
For chronic diarrhea that does not stop, accompanied by fright and convulsions, it is incurable.
For chronic diarrhea that does not stop, transforming into dysentery with red and white discharge, it is incurable.
For chronic diarrhea that does not stop, with emaciation of large muscles, it is incurable.
For chronic diarrhea that does not stop, with the anus like a bamboo tube unable to close, it is incurable.
For diarrhea, regardless of severity, as long as diet is normal and no other symptoms arise, it is not difficult to treat and easy to cure.

Xijiang Yue (Song Ci):
Secret methods for treating diarrhea are rarely told to ordinary people; now transmitted to save infants, accumulating merit in the heart's field. Initially employ mild diuresis (Dan Shen), then implement warming the middle (Wen Zhong); three times lifting, four times securing to save the infant; this formula is eternally fixed since ancient times.
How does diarrhea occur? Simply because fluids and food grains are not separated, so mild diuresis (Dan Shen) is applied first; when urination increases, diarrhea settles. Shi Huajie (Halloysit), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Chifuling (Poria with Red Sand), Baizhu, Renshen, Zuling, Gancao, Zexie, and Sharen; decoct with Jiang (Ginger) and Zao (Date) as guides.
After mild diuresis, if diarrhea continues, guard against deficiency of Gu Qi (Grain Qi) in the middle; Wen Zhong (Warming Middle) pills/powders need not be rigidly adhered to, but must stop diarrhea at once. Baizhu, Renshen, Sharen, Huoxiang, Zhi Jiang (Roasted Ginger), Zhi Cao (Roasted Licorice) according to books; Wumei (Terminalia), Shu Fuzi (Prepared Aconite), Zexie, Zuling; use Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) as main guide.
If Warming Middle fails, consider sinking of Zhong Qi (Middle Qi) requiring lifting; use Renshen, Baizhu, Huangqi, Gancao, Zhi Ganjiang (Roasted Dried Ginger). Zexie, Zuling, Chifuling, Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Shu Dahuang (Prepared Rheum), Wumei, Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix); do not discard Jiang and Zao as guides.
If lifting fails to stop, it is due to intestinal sliding hard to retain; general astringency offers no better option, explore its direction to save. Renshen, Baizhu, Zhi Jiang, Zhi Cao, Wumei, Susuke (Poppy Shell) support each other; Shengma, Hezi, Shaoyao, Danggui sought; decoct with Jiang and Zao, take warm.
Methods exhausted yet diarrhea persists; luck is scarce, misfortune abundant. If parents are helpless, you must not err in treatment. Renshen, Baizhu, Fuzi, Chenpi, Jiang, Zao, Sharen, Doukou (Cardamom), Susuke, Ganchan (Dry Toad), Lushen (Aloe), Muxiang harmonized; Chishi (Halloysit) vinegar pill taken effectively.
Diarrhea often accompanied by thirst; Baizhu San (Powder) is like an immortal prescription. Renshen, Baizhu, Muxiang, Gange, Huoxiang leaves, Gancao, Fuling seven flavors; add Wumei and decoct together; temporarily use Fulonggan (Dragon's House Earth), this method is worth a thousand gold.
For standard diarrhea treatment, no need for special schemes; just use Heijiang (Black Ginger) and Weiling Wan, naturally stops after three doses. If this takes no effect, support according to the previous four methods; I teach the heart method to others, revealing the bright physician's three generations.
In May and June, diarrhea has less cold and more heat; Lizhong Wan (Regulate the Middle Pill) saves severe cases, Yulu San (Jade Dew Powder) is truly reliable. If ineffective, use Siling San (Four-Poria Powder) as guide, swallow Lizhong Wan to harmonize; naturally diarrhea stops, do not hesitate, saving many people will remember me.
In summer, many suffer diarrhea, frequent abdominal pain attacked by heat; Zuling, Zexie, Fuling used together, Gancao, Zhi Ganjiang (Roasted Dried Ginger) used. Baizhu, Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Huashi (Talcum), Renshen, Sharen, Huoxiang warm the middle; Shengma lifts Qi wonderfully, send down with Wumei decoction.
Although diarrhea symptoms vary, the main cause is always dampness; Wind-Cold-Water-Damp invade the body, excessive milk/food injury causes disease. This stems from insufficient Middle Qi, deep accumulation in Spleen/Stomach, causing uneven Qi and pulses, thus forming diarrhea.
Everyone knows of diarrhea, but should distinguish its root; Cold causes sliding diarrhea without sound, Heat causes intestinal knotting as disease. Thus leading to tenesmus, flowing water with sound, this is named Heat-originating Diarrhea; below details the diseases.
Detailing Cold Diarrhea symptoms: abdomen sounds like thunder, discharging clear watery form, pale face, abdominal pain etc. Severe cases have cold limbs; this is caused by children drowning in cold invasion, cold qi piercing the abdomen, thus causing this disease in children.
Heat Diarrhea color is mostly yellow-red, difficult urination, vexation, dry mouth/thirst, definite dry throat, rough feeding confirms it. This is due to intestines/stomach harboring heat, cold wind entering between, heat qi clashing uncomfortably, thus children suffer this.
Uneven Cold-Heat diarrhea, discharge color red-white irregular, either water or grain disaster, how can children withstand. This is due to first cold then heat, first heat then re-injured by cold, intestines/stomach originally deficient in middle organs, cold and heat attack evenly.
Furthermore, Food Injury diarrhea: abdominal pain, no desire for milk/food, yellow face, abnormal cold/heat times, feces have sour foul smell. This is due to excessive milk/food, injuring Spleen/Stomach, thus becoming diarrhea in infants, children often have this disease.
Also there is Summerheat Diarrhea, mostly during hot summer times, also deduced from cold/heat patterns, so as to carefully decide dosage. If discharge is red-white, big belly with blue veins, sparse hair, or eating dirt/expelling roundworms, this is Kan Diarrhea (Malnutrition Diarrhea).
Also see diarrhea with back color changes, or periodic fever, restless sleep sudden fright, this is Jing Diarrhea (Fright Diarrhea) trend. This is Spleen overcome by Liver, must treat early; if transforming into Pi Feng (Spleen Wind) convulsions, even immortals struggle.
Diarrhea pouring yellow water, thirst or no thirst different paths, seek in Wind-Damp patterns, mostly sick in spring times. If discharging clear water, abdomen not painful, this is pure Dampness disease origin, disease transmits in rainy weather.
Intestinal sliding diarrhea unceasing, Dampness injures Yuan Qi sinking into deficiency, medicines should lift to save child's body, only then grasp medical principles' wonder. If diarrhea lasts long, body heat remains unremoved, this is long-duration Qi much deficient, Tiaoyuan Tang (Regulate Origin Decoction) should be taken.

Danyu's method for treating diarrhea: Water diarrhea with no abdominal pain, this syndrome clearly due to Dampness. Siling San (Four-Poria Powder) plus Er Zhu (Two Atractylodises) should be increased. Food entering stomach not staying, undigested grain remains, this is the root of Qi deficiency disease, Renshen, Baizhu, Shengma, Shaoyao combined.
Severe abdominal pain with diarrhea, pain reduces feeling light after diarrhea. Seek in Food Stagnation syndrome, Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata), Dahuang push and drain. One pain one diarrhea becomes obstacle, draining Fire sees more bowel sounds, Fire syndrome clear use Siling San, adding Qin (Scutellaria) Tong (Unblocking) is superior.
Major diarrhea syndromes, treatment methods orderly clear, physicians must detail discussion, especially value matching formula to syndrome. Treatment only follows previous methods, Astringent drugs must not go first; if randomly ruining regulations, instead transform into Dysentery Pus severe illness.
Diarrhea unknown syndrome, long time unceasing disturbing, spirit good thirst unceasing, face red lips red emaciated. Pulse logic sees deep fine, sliding diarrhea no milk vexation, transforming dysentery red-white or fright convulsion, anus like tube unrecoverable.
