Treats conditions caused by irregular anger and joy, combined with worry and overthinking, leading to stagnation of Zang-Fu Qi (Visceral and Bowel Qi), accumulation of phlegm-fluids, fullness and oppression in the chest and abdomen, or recurrent pain, aversion to cold with fever, and simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea.
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, one piece: one raw, one processed; remove skin and umbilicus) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed twenty-one times with decoction to remove slipperiness, 1.5 liang) Huashi (Talcum) Chenglian Zhongru (Prepared Gypsum Fibrosum, each 0.5 liang) Chensha (Cinnabaris, 3 fen, separately ground)
Grind the above into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, with 2 zhan of water, 7 slices of ginger, 2-3 leaves of Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba), and half a spoonful of honey. Decoct until reduced to 7/10 volume, and take cold before meals. If urination is difficult, add Mutong (Akebiae Caulis) and Maogen (Imperatae Rhizoma) and decoct together.
Regarding excessive consumption of roasted meats, indulgence in dairy products and cheese, delicacies from land and sea, mixed dried meats and sauces, rapid drinking of cold beverages, forced intake of fine wines, and indulgence in lust without restraint: since the Stomach is the Sea of the Five Zang organs, relying on Spleen Qi for transportation and transformation, when the Stomach becomes distended, the Spleen's function stagnates and coagulates, causing Visceral Qi to fail to circulate. This inevitably leads to stagnation and eruption, resulting in vomiting and diarrhea. Such cases should be treated according to the "Neither Internal nor External Causes" (Bu Nei Wai Yin).
Treats deficiency-cold of the Spleen and Stomach, irregular diet, retention of old food forming fluids, accumulation of masses in the intestines and stomach, or sudden onset of Huoluan (Cholera-like disease) due to disharmony of Qi, exposure to cold-dampness, accompanied by simultaneous vomiting and diarrhea, severe colic in the heart and abdomen, piercing pain in the intestines and stomach, and extreme fatigue and weakness.
Pengzhu (Curcumae Rhizoma, chopped) Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, chopped, each 2 liang, boiled together in rice vinegar for one fu time [approx. 2 hours]) Hujiao (Piperis Longi Fructus, 1 liang) Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, stir-fried, 3 liang) Awei (Asafoetida, 1 fen)
Grind the above into powder. Dissolve Awei in vinegar, mix with aged rice flour to form a paste, and make pills the size of wutong seeds. Coat with Fan Zhu (Alumen et Cinnabaris). Take 100-200 pills per dose, swallowed with a decoction of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens) and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
This formula is excellent for treating vomiting and diarrhea caused by Huoluan.
Hujiao (Piperis Longi Fructus, 7 grains) Ludou (Phaseoli Radiati Semen, 21 grains)
Grind the above into powder. Take with a decoction of Mugua (Chaenomelis Fructus).
Hezi San (Terminalia Chebula Powder): Treats vomiting and diarrhea due to Huoluan in the elderly and children, effective after one dose. (Formula see Section on Nine Pains)
When tendon contraction (Zhuanjin) occurs, it is because the Yangming channel nourishes the Zongjin (Major Tendons), which belong to the Stomach and Large Intestine. Sudden profuse diarrhea and vomiting cause instantaneous loss of Jin-Ye (Body Fluids). External invasion of the Four Qi (Wind, Cold, Summerheat, Dampness) and internal accumulation of the Seven Emotions, combined with sweet and greasy diet blocking all channels, causes the tendons to wither and weaken. Loss of nourishment to the Zongjin inevitably leads to spasms. In severe cases, testicular retraction and tongue curling occur, making it difficult to treat.
