疹初咳嗽风邪郁，加味升麻葛根良，毒热熏蒸金受制，清金宁嗽自堪尝。
注∶麻疹发自脾肺，故多咳嗽。若咳嗽太甚者，当分初没治之。初起咳嗽此为风邪所
郁，以升麻葛根汤加前胡桔梗苏叶杏仁治之；已出咳嗽乃肺为火灼，以清金宁嗽汤主之。
升麻葛根汤（方见前）
清金宁嗽汤
橘红 前胡 生甘草 杏仁（去皮尖炒） 桑皮（蜜炙） 川连 栝蒌仁 桔梗 浙贝母（去心）
引用生姜红枣水煎服。
方歌∶嗽用清金宁嗽汤，橘红前草杏仁桑，川连栝蒌桔贝母，引用红枣共生姜。
疹毒热甚上攻喉，肿痛难堪实可扰，表邪元参升麻用，里热凉膈消毒求。
注∶疹毒热盛上攻咽喉，轻则肿痛，甚则汤水难下，最为可虑。表邪郁遏，疹毒不能发
舒于外，致咽喉作痛者，元参升麻汤主之。里热壅盛，或疹已发于外而咽喉作痛者，以凉膈消毒饮主之。
元参升麻汤
荆芥穗 防风 升麻 牛蒡子（炒研） 元参 生甘草
水煎服。
方歌∶表郁疹毒喉肿痛，急服元参升麻汤，荆芥防风升麻蒡，元参甘草水煎尝。
凉膈消毒饮
荆芥穗 防风 连翘（去心） 薄荷叶 黄芩 生栀子 生甘草 牛蒡子（炒研） 芒硝 生大黄
引用灯心水煎服。
方歌∶里热喉痛苦难当，凉膈消毒饮最良，荆防翘薄芩栀草，牛蒡芒硝生大黄。
麻疹初期出现咳嗽，是因为风邪郁闭所致，使用加味升麻葛根汤效果良好；若毒热熏蒸导致肺金受制，则应使用清金宁嗽汤来润肺止咳。
注释：麻疹的病源发自脾脏和肺脏，因此常伴有咳嗽症状。如果咳嗽过于严重，应当根据疹子初起或消退的不同阶段进行治疗。在发病初期出现的咳嗽，是由于风邪郁闭引起，可用升麻葛根汤加入前胡、桔梗、苏叶、杏仁来治疗；疹子发出后出现的咳嗽，则是由于肺脏被火热灼伤，应以清金宁嗽汤为主方治疗。
升麻葛根汤（方剂见前文）
清金宁嗽汤
橘红、前胡、生甘草、杏仁（去皮尖并炒制）、桑白皮（蜜炙）、黄连、瓜蒌仁、桔梗、浙贝母（去心）。
引用生姜、红枣煎水服用。
方歌：咳嗽使用清金宁嗽汤，包含橘红、前胡、甘草、杏仁、桑白皮，以及黄连、瓜蒌、桔梗、贝母，引用红枣和生姜共同煎服。
麻疹毒热炽盛向上攻冲咽喉，导致咽喉肿痛难忍，确实令人烦恼担忧。若是表邪郁遏，应用元参升麻汤；若是里热壅盛，应用凉膈消毒饮。
注释：麻疹毒热旺盛，向上攻冲咽喉，轻则表现为肿痛，重则连汤水都难以咽下，最为令人忧虑。若是表邪郁闭阻碍，导致疹毒不能向外透发，从而引起咽喉疼痛的，以元参升麻汤主治。若是里热壅盛，或者疹子已经发出到体表但依然咽喉疼痛的，以凉膈消毒饮主治。
元参升麻汤
荆芥穗、防风、升麻、牛蒡子（炒研碎）、玄参、生甘草。
水煎服用。
方歌：表郁疹毒导致咽喉肿痛，急忙服用元参升麻汤，包含荆芥、防风、升麻、牛蒡子，以及玄参、甘草，水煎服用。
凉膈消毒饮
荆芥穗、防风、连翘（去心）、薄荷叶、黄芩、生栀子、生甘草、牛蒡子（炒研碎）、芒硝、生大黄。
引用灯心草煎水服用。
方歌：里热导致咽喉痛苦难当，凉膈消毒饮效果最好，包含荆芥、防风、连翘、薄荷、黄芩、栀子、甘草，以及牛蒡子、芒硝、生大黄。
Cough at the initial stage of measles is caused by the constraint of wind-pathogen; adding ingredients to Shengma Gegen Decoction (Cinnamon Twig and Rhizoma Cimicifugae Decoction) yields good results. If toxic heat steams upward, constraining the Metal (Lung), Qingjin Ningsou Tang (Clear Metal and Calm Cough Decoction) should be used to moisten the lungs and stop coughing.
Note: Measles originates from the Spleen and Lung, hence cough is common. If the cough is severe, treatment must be differentiated based on whether the rash is in its initial or resolving stage. Cough occurring at the onset is due to wind-pathogen constraint; it is treated with Shengma Gegen Decoction (Cinnamon Twig and Rhizoma Cimicifugae Decoction) added with Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Zhusu Ye (Perilla Leaf), and Xingren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed). Cough occurring after the rash has erupted is due to the Lung being scorched by fire; it is primarily treated with Qingjin Ningsou Tang (Clear Metal and Calm Cough Decoction).

Qingjin Ningsou Tang (Clear Metal and Calm Cough Decoction)
Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Sheng Gancao (Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Xingren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed, skin and tip removed, stir-fried), Sangbai Pi (Morus Alba Root Bark, honey-fried), Chuan Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Gualou Ren (Trichosanthis Semen), Jiegeng (Platocodonis Radix), Zhe Beimu (Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, heart removed).
Decoct with fresh ginger and red dates as guides.
Formula Song: For cough, use Qingjin Ningsou Tang, containing Juhong, Qianhu, Gancao, Xingren, and Sangbai Pi; Chuanlian, Gualou, Jiegeng, and Beimu are included; decoct together with red dates and fresh ginger.
When measles toxin-heat is excessive and attacks the throat upwards, causing unbearable swelling and pain, it is indeed disturbing. If the exterior pathogen is constrained, Yuanshen Shengma Tang (Scrophulariae Radix and Rhizoma Cimicifugae Decoction) should be used; if interior heat is congested and abundant, Liangge Xiaodu Yin (Cool the Diaphragm and Detoxify Decoction) should be sought.
Note: When measles toxin-heat is vigorous and attacks the throat upwards, mild cases present with swelling and pain, while severe cases make swallowing even liquids difficult, which is most concerning. If exterior pathogen constraint prevents the measles toxin from venting outward, causing throat pain, Yuanshen Shengma Tang (Scrophulariae Radix and Rhizoma Cimicifugae Decoction) is the primary treatment. If interior heat is congested and abundant, or if the rash has already erupted externally but throat pain persists, Liangge Xiaodu Yin (Cool the Diaphragm and Detoxify Decoction) is the primary treatment.
Yuanshen Shengma Tang (Scrophulariae Radix and Rhizoma Cimicifugae Decoction)
Jingjie Sui (Schizonepeta Spike), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, stir-fried and crushed), Yuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Sheng Gancao (Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
Decoct with water and take orally.
Formula Song: Exterior constraint and measles toxin cause throat swelling and pain; urgently take Yuanshen Shengma Tang, containing Jingjie, Fangfeng, Shengma, and Niubangzi, along with Yuanshen and Gancao; decoct with water and consume.
Liangge Xiaodu Yin (Cool the Diaphragm and Detoxify Decoction)
Jingjie Sui (Schizonepeta Spike), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum, heart removed), Bohe Ye (Menthae Haplocalycis Folium), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Sheng Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructum), Sheng Gancao (Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructus, stir-fried and crushed), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Sheng Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma).
Decoct with Dengxin Cao (Junci Medullia) as a guide.
Formula Song: Interior heat causes unbearable throat pain; Liangge Xiaodu Yin (Cool the Diaphragm and Detoxify Decoction) is best, containing Jingjie, Fangfeng, Lianqiao, Bohe, Huangqin, Zhizi, and Gancao, along with Niubangzi, Mangxiao, and Sheng Dahuang.
