Treats wind-stroke of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian, with a pulse that is floating on the Yang position and weak on the Yin position. Floating on the Yang indicates spontaneous heat; weak on the Yin indicates spontaneous sweating. The patient feels chilly (se-se) with aversion to cold, shivery (sa-sa) with aversion to wind, feverish (xi-xi) as if covered by feathers, accompanied by nasal congestion (bi-ming) and dry retching. Furthermore, Taiyang syndrome is suitable for diaphoresis (sweating therapy); if the person has lost blood or suffers from diarrhea, this formula should be administered frequently to moisten the body, and it should resolve spontaneously after several days.
