Humans are born receiving the essence of heaven and earth, none without the Stomach as the foundation. This is because the Stomach receives food and drink, the Spleen governs transformation and transportation, generating blood and Qi to nourish the four limbs.
Cold obstruction, latent phlegm in the Zhongwan region, stomach affected by pathogenic heat, or stasis of blood stagnating and accumulating can also cause vomiting. Therefore, if the pulse is intermittent (Dai), it is cholera-like disease; if the pulse is faint and nearly absent, it is also cholera-like disease.
If the pulse of cholera-like disease is large, it is treatable; if micro and fine, it is untreatable. If the pulse is slow, breath is weak, and there is no desire to speak, it is also untreatable. The methods of treatment are detailed below. At the time of illness, exercise greater caution and discretion in their application, and nothing will be inappropriate.
Treats vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal distension and fullness, indigestion, and heart/abdominal pain caused by excessive consumption of raw and cold foods or drinking cold fluids. (Formula see Cholera-like Disease section)
Decoct and take according to method. For severe vomiting, add Pinellia Rhizoma (Banxia) and Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang) to decoct; or for irregular diet, excessive consumption of raw/cold, fatty/greasy, or raw fish/meat, causing incessant vomiting and reflux, add Qingpi [text incomplete in original].
Treats vomiting and acid regurgitation due to old cold in the Stomach.
Zanthoxyli Fructus (Dingxiang) (not exposed to fire, 1 liang), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ganjiang) (pao), Pinelliae Rhizoma (Banxia) (soaked in boiling water seven times), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Juhong) (each 2 liang), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu) (1.5 liang).
Grind all into fine powder, make pills using fresh juice of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang) as binder, size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills each time, before meals, delivered with light ginger soup.
Treats vomiting caused by emotional injury from sorrow, worry, thought, anxiety, grief, fear, and fright, leading to Qi stagnation in the middle jiao. Or presenting with alternating chills and fever, dizziness and distension, and loss of appetite.
Agasteghis Herba (Huoxiangye), Pinelliae Fermentatae (Banxiaqu), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) (not exposed to fire, each 1 liang), Poria (Fuling) (peeled), [Text missing/error] (chao), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Loquat Leaf (Pipaye) (brush off hairs), Cinnamomi Cortex (Guigui) (not exposed to fire), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (zhi, each half liang).
Grind all into fine powder. Take 3 qian each time, with one large cup of water, five slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang), and one date. Decoct until 70% remains, strain, take warm, at any time.
