更看人气清明顺,神昏气HT(此处原文可能有误,推测为“气粗”或类似描述凶象的词,按字面处理或忽略不通处,结合后文“作凶认”,意为气息浑浊或异常)作凶认。

Facial Complexion Symptom Chart \ps48a59.bmp\r
The chin belongs to Kidney Water. The left cheek belongs to Liver Wood (original text says "Liver Water", likely a typo for Wood in context of Five Elements, but translated as per source). The Tian Ting (forehead) and Yin Tang (glabella) belong to Heart Fire. The nose tip (Bi Zhun) belongs to Spleen Earth. The right cheek belongs to Lung Metal.
Half a year to two years old is called infant (Ying Er).
Three to four years old is called child (Hai Er). Five to six years old is called small child (Xiao Er). Seven to eight years old is called tiao chen (child changing teeth). Nine years old is called tong zi (boy). Ten years old is called zhi zi (young child).
Ancient texts say that children are like sprouting infants, similar to grass shoots or foam in water. This is because their Zang-Fu organs are fragile and tender, they cannot speak, and it is most difficult to administer medication. One should first observe the facial complexion to determine the affected organ, and then examine the Tiger Mouth (finger veins) to identify the cause. This is indeed a concise principle of treatment.
When a child is ill, look at the face; clarity comes entirely from observing the Qi and color. Observation, listening/smelling, inquiry, and palpation can exhaustively investigate pathology; thus, when treating illness, one is not restricted solely to pulse diagnosis of the hands and feet. Each part of the face has its specific correspondence.
The forehead, zygomatic bones, and cheeks correspond to Heart Fire. The left cheek is originally governed by the Liver. The right cheek and lips are the foundation of the Lung. In each season, there is a dominant (Wang) and secondary (Xiang) color. According to the season, without urgent reversal, there is no disaster.
One must distinguish between Wang (Prosperous), Xiang (Secondary), Xiu (Resting), Qiu (Imprisoned), and Fou (Declining) states; this relies on human judgment. In spring, Green is Wang and also Xiang; Black is Xiu, White is Qiu, Yellow is Fou. In summer, Red is Wang, Yellow is Xiang (Auspicious); Green is Xiu, Black is Qiu, White is Unfavorable. If it is a Liver disease presenting with a green face, seeing white in spring makes it hard to treat. This is Lung Metal overcoming Liver Wood; if yellow appears, it is Spleen Earth bullying. If it is a Heart disease in summer, the face is red; observing color, one worries about blackness. This is Kidney Water overcoming Heart Fire; white is suppressed by Lung Metal. For Lung disease, a white face is appropriate; if red appears, it is hardest to eliminate. This is Heart Fire overcoming Lung Metal; green allows the Liver to become aggressive. For Kidney disease, a black face corresponds to heavenly phases; if yellow appears, there is much depression. This is Spleen Earth overcoming Kidney Water; red causes heart obstruction. The Spleen resides in all seasons, with a yellow face shape. If green appears, it is hardest to withstand. This is Liver Wood overcoming Spleen Earth; black strengthens the Kidney. Spring Red, Summer Yellow, Autumn Black, Winter Green—even if Xiang, it is of no benefit. Transmission from the preceding element indicates excess; draining the son restores peace and auspiciousness. Each of the five Zang organs belongs to a palace; people differ according to the five colors. Clarity vs. stagnation within the color allows distinguishing good and bad omens based on color. A healthy Heart red resembles a rooster's comb; muddy, bloody red is unsuitable. A healthy Liver form resembles peacock feathers with luster; color like tender grass is auspicious. A favorable Spleen color is like the yellow belly of a crab; shape like Zhi Shi (immature bitter orange) portends disaster. A favorable Lung form resembles pig fat; dry bone indicates short life. The best Kidney color resembles bird feathers; charcoal-black is inauspicious. Distinguishing two colors in each hue reveals clear good and bad omens, not empty words. Further observe if the person's Qi is clear and smooth; confusion of spirit and abnormal Qi are recognized as ominous. Thin but strong Qi implies Excess; fat but weak Qi implies delicate/weak constitution. Strong Qi leads to stability and peace; weak Qi implies Deficiency and short life. Again, observe the diseased face: fever often presents with redness on the forehead. Appearance of green indicates acute convulsions; if dark and dim, death is certain. Cold forehead and cold feet indicate food-stagnation fright; hot forehead and hot feet indicate severe wind-cold. The fontanelle should be closed and not sunken; swelling or pit-like depressions are useless indicators. Blue-green at Yin Tang indicates fright; red indicates Heart fright; white indicates harmony. Slight blue-purple suggests sudden exposure to strange influences (Ke Wu). Blue at Shan Gen (root of nose) indicates fright-disease; purple indicates injury from milk or food. Diarrhea/depletion with yellow/white faces requires death prediction; yellow at Nian Shou (area below nose) is the basis for vomiting and diarrhea. [Blank] white indicates deficiency. Redness at both cheeks indicates crying-heat; redness at the left cheek indicates phlegm-Qi; redness at the right cheek indicates wind-heat. Face green with red lips indicates Shang Han (Cold Damage); yellow face and eyes indicate damp-heat. Yellow face with tongue protrusion and heat in five centers (palms, soles, chest) indicates night crying with red eyebrows. Furrowed brows indicate headache and dysentery. Swollen eye sacs indicate chronic cough. As the disease recovers, eyes may turn yellow; pale red indicates Heart heat. Frequent upward staring indicates Jing Feng (Wind Stirring); red vessels penetrating the eyeballs indicate ominous Liver disease. Fish-eye fixed gaze is not an auspicious omen; sunken pupils are the root of death.
