My nature, my life. I cherish my authenticity. Heaven has endowed me with uniqueness, and the responsibility I bear is not light. You should follow the principles of regulating and maintaining health. However, if you bind yourself, why do you not respect yourself?
I possess a sword of wisdom, leaning against the sky, shining like snow. In water, it can sever dragons; on land, it can cut leather (Note: The original text "Lu ke Ge" likely implies cutting capability on land, often associated with severing rhinos or elephants in classical contexts, but translated literally here as cutting). How much more so for these emotional attachments; what difficulty is there in severing them? With one wave, they shatter instantly, which is what follows... Regarding the above points, no medicine or needles are required; their efficacy is more refined than that of medicines. There is no need to ingest elixirs; their merit is swifter than taking elixirs. It is said that one dose of cooling medicine can make the two ministers of disease (metaphor for illness) recover immediately. Those suffering from such conditions should indeed place this [text/advice] on the left side of their bed, forever using it as a guideline for admonition and treatment.
Respectfully recorded by Sun Wenyin, Master of Zunsheng.
(Attached: Treatise on Zang-Fu Manifestations, Diagrams of Zang-Fu Organs, Tonification and Draining Methods for Each Meridian, and Guiding Herbs for Warm/Cool Properties.)
The Yellow Emperor asked: Do the Five Zang organs correspond to the Four Seasons, each having specific correspondences? Qibo replied: The East corresponds to the color green, internally connecting to the Liver (Gan, Liver), opening into the eyes, and storing essence in the liver. Liver diseases manifest as fright, the flavor is sour, the category is wood/plants, the domestic animal is the chicken, the grain is wheat, and it corresponds to Spring, represented by the Star Sui Xing (Jupiter). Thus, the Qi of Spring resides in the head. Its musical note is Jue, its number is eight, its odor is fishy, its sound is calling out, and its pathological change is clenching/grasping. Its emotion is anger; anger injures the Liver, while grief overcomes anger. Wind pathogen injures tendons; dryness overcomes wind. Sour flavor injures tendons; pungent flavor overcomes sour.
The South corresponds to the color red, internally connecting to the Heart (Xin, Heart), opening into the ears, and storing essence in the heart. Heart diseases manifest within the five Zang organs, the flavor is bitter, the category is fire, the domestic animal is the sheep, and the grain is millet. Excessive worry injures the heart; its emotion is joy; joy injures the heart, while fear overcomes joy. Heat pathogen injures Qi; cold overcomes heat. Bitter flavor injures Qi; sour flavor overcomes bitter.
The Center corresponds to the color yellow, internally connecting to the Spleen (Pi, Spleen), opening into the mouth, and storing essence in the spleen. Therefore, diseases manifest at the root of the tongue. The flavor is sweet, the category is earth, the domestic animal is the cow, and the grain is broomcorn millet. It corresponds to the late summer season, represented by the Star Zhen Xing (Saturn). Thus, one knows that diseases reside in the flesh/muscles. Its musical note is Gong, its number is five, its odor is fragrant, its sound is singing, and its pathological change is hiccups. Its emotion is pensive rumination; excessive thinking injures the Spleen, while anger overcomes thinking. Dampness pathogen injures muscles; wind overcomes dampness. Sweet flavor injures muscles; sour flavor overcomes sweet.
The West corresponds to the color white, internally connecting to the Lung (Fei, Lung), opening into the nose, and storing essence in the lungs. Therefore, diseases manifest on the back. The flavor is pungent, the category is metal, the domestic animal is the horse, and the grain is rice. It corresponds to Autumn, represented by the Star Tai Bai (Venus). Thus, one knows that diseases reside in the skin and hair. Its musical note is Shang, its number is nine, its odor is raw/fishy, its sound is laughing, and its pathological change is coughing. Its emotion is sorrow/worry; sorrow injures the Lungs, while joy overcomes sorrow. Heat pathogen injures skin and hair; cold overcomes heat. Pungent flavor injures skin and hair; bitter flavor overcomes pungent.
The North corresponds to the color black, internally connecting to the Kidney (Shen, Kidney), opening into the two yin orifices (urethra and anus), and storing essence in the kidneys. Therefore, diseases manifest in the joints and valleys. The flavor is salty, the category is water, the domestic animal is the pig, and the grain is chestnut. Its emotion is fear; fear injures the Kidneys, while thinking overcomes fear. Cold pathogen injures blood; dryness overcomes cold. Salty flavor injures blood; sweet flavor overcomes salty.
The Yellow Emperor asked: I wish to hear about the mutual service relationships and hierarchy among the Twelve Zang-Fu organs. Qibo responded: The Heart is the Official of the Sovereign, from whom Shen Ming (Spirit/Mind) emerges. The Lung is the Official of the Prime Minister, from whom regulation and rhythm emerge. The Liver is the Official of the General, from whom strategy and planning emerge. The Gallbladder is the Official of Integrity, from whom decision-making emerges. The Dan Zhong (Chest/Pericardium area) is the Official of the Envoy, from which joy and pleasure emerge. The Stomach and Spleen are the Officials of the Granary, from which the flavors of the five foods emerge. The Large Intestine is the Official of Transmission, from which transformation occurs. The Small Intestine is the Official of Reception, from which differentiation of substances occurs. The Kidney is the Official of Strength, from which dexterity and skill emerge. The San Jiao (Triple Burner) is the Official of Irrigation, from which water pathways emerge. The Bladder is the Official of the Capital, where fluids are stored; only through Qi transformation can they be excreted. These twelve officials must not lose their order. If the Sovereign is clear, the subordinates are peaceful; using this for health preservation leads to longevity and safety throughout life. Using this to govern the world leads to great prosperity. If the Sovereign is unclear, the twelve officials are in danger, the channels become blocked, and the physical form suffers greatly. Using this for health preservation leads to disaster, and governing the world leads to great peril for the ancestral temple. Beware, beware!

Eight Winds Should Be Avoided (Wind opens the pores, breaks trees, raises dust and stones; those with weak constitutions or recovering from illness should avoid it):
Wind coming from due South is called Da Ruo Feng (Great Weak Wind). It injures the body, lodging internally in the Heart and externally in the vessels. Its qi is primarily heat. (Real wind at Summer Solstice).
Wind coming from Southwest is called Mou Feng (Plotting Wind). It injures the body, lodging internally in the Spleen and externally in the muscle layer. Its qi is primarily weak. (Real wind at Start of Autumn, Deficient wind at Start of Spring).
Wind coming from due West is called Gang Feng (Hard Wind). It injures the body, lodging internally in the Lung and externally in the skin. Its qi is primarily dry. (Real wind at Autumn Equinox, Deficient wind at Spring Equinox).
Wind coming from Northwest is called Zhe Feng (Breaking Wind). It injures the body, lodging internally in the Small Intestine and externally in the Hand Taiyang vessel. If the vessel is severed, overflow occurs; if blocked, stagnation occurs. (Real wind at Start of Winter, Deficient wind at Start of Summer).
Wind coming from Northwest is called Da Gang Feng (Great Hard Wind). It injures the body, lodging internally in the Kidney and externally in the bones, as well as the back muscles. Its qi is primarily cold. (Real wind at Winter Solstice, Deficient wind at Summer Solstice).
Wind coming from Northeast is called Xiong Feng (Auspicious/Ominous Wind - *Note: Xiong usually means ominous/bad in this context*). It injures the body, lodging internally in the Large Intestine and externally in the hypochondrium, axilla, and limbs. (Real wind at Start of Spring, Deficient wind at Start of Autumn).
Wind coming from due East is called Ying Er Feng (Infant Wind). It injures the body, lodging internally in the Liver and externally in the tendon junctions. Its qi causes bodily dampness. (Real wind at Spring Equinox, Deficient wind at Autumn Equinox).
Wind coming from Southeast is called Ruo Feng (Weak Wind). It injures the body, lodging internally in the Stomach and externally in the muscles. Its qi causes heaviness. (Real wind at Summer Solstice, Deficient wind at Winter Solstice).
These Eight Winds invade only when they find deficiency in the body, causing disease. Thus, the Sage says: One should avoid wind as one avoids arrows and stones.
