Alcoholic rhinophyma (Rhinophyma) is caused by blood heat entering the Lung. Treatment method: Use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction, a basic formula for nourishing blood and regulating menstruation) added with Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), (another version adds Huangbai [Phellodendron Bark]), Honghua (Safflower), and Huangqin (Scutellaria Root) stir-fried with wine, decocted. Add a few drops of good-quality yellow wine, and take together with powder of Chao Wulingzhi (Stir-fried Trogopterus Dung). In *Gezhi Lun* (Treatise on Investigating Things), it is recorded to add Fuling (Poria) and Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) to the above herbs. For those with Qi deficiency, add Huangqi (Astragalus Root) to the prescription.
Another method: Mix Tongyou (Tung Oil) with Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) powder, burn Tiandiao Teng (Caulis Sinomenii) into ash, and apply as a hot compress. Another saying: Burn Tiandiao Teng in Tung oil until the oil is ready, then mix with Huanglian powder for application.
Another prescription: Grind Zhizi (Gardenia Fruit) into powder, make pills the size of bullet seeds using honey and beeswax. Chew one pill on an empty stomach and swallow with warm water.
Treating nasal polyps: This is due to food stagnation in the Stomach and flow of phlegm-heat; treating the root requires eliminating food stagnation.
Hudie Fan (Butterfly Alum) (2 qian) Xixin (Asarum Root) (1 qian) Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) (5 qian)
Grind the above into powder. Insert into the nose.
Treating Bi Yuan (Nasal Sinusitis characterized by continuous discharge of turbid mucus)
Nanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma Preparatum) Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum) Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) Shenqu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) Jiu Qin (Scutellaria Root prepared with wine) Xinyi (Magnolia Flower) Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba)
Decoct the above in water and take after meals.
[Appendix] Alcoholic rhinophyma and similar conditions are all caused by stagnant heat. The Lung Qi connects to the nose, which is the pathway for clear Qi to enter and exit. Due to drinking alcohol, Qi and Blood become stagnant, generating heat in the Upper Jiao. If pathogenic heat lingers and does not dissipate, nasal sores will form. There are also cases arising from Lung Wind without alcohol consumption, not solely due to drinking. It is suitable to use Xi Er Gan (the second rinse water from washing rice) as a single remedy, consume chilled beverages after meals, and externally apply Sulfur roasted inside a large radish and ground into paste. If the nasal tip is slightly red or sores form in the nose, grind Xinyi (Magnolia Flower) into powder, add a small amount of Naoshe (likely Borneol or similar aromatic herb), wrap in cotton, and insert into the nose. Alternatively, wipe the hairs off Pipaye (Loquat Leaf), chop it, decoct in water, let cool, mix with Xiaofeng San (Wind-Dispersing Powder), and take after meals. Another method suggests frequently rubbing with white salt is effective. Applying earwax from cattle or horses is also considered miraculous.
Attached Prescriptions

Grind the above into fine powder. For every 4 liang, add 1 jin of Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) powder, and make water-hulled pills.
Another method: Grind Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix), and Binglang (Areca Seed) into powder. Mix with pig fat for external application, which is especially excellent.
Another method: Grind Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Huaihua (Sophorae Flos), and Xingren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed) for application.

Boshang Huhuang (Imported Sulfur) Bai Fan (Alumen Calcined) (half tael each)
Grind the above into powder. Add a small amount of Huangdan (Minium) to dye it to match the patient's skin color. Apply half a qian each time, moistened with saliva, and reapply before sleep. Concurrently take Shengma Tang (Cimicifugae Decoction) to deliver Xieqing Wan (Draining Green Pill), which removes the root cause. Another version is found in the Wind category.
Qinghuang San (Light Yellow Powder) Treats nasal polyps.
Qingfen (Calomelas) (1 qian) Cihuang (Orpiment) (half tael) Xingren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed) (1 qian, soaked in hot water, remove skin, tips, and twin kernels) Shexiang (Musk) (a small amount)
In a mortar, first grind Xingren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed) into a paste, then grind the remaining medicines finely and evenly together. Seal in a porcelain container. Whenever there is a patient, regardless of depth, use a chopstick at night to place a grain-sized amount into the nose. Once every other night, effective within half a month.
