Various gan sores and scabies are caused by damage to the Spleen and Stomach, depletion of internal Body Fluids (Jin Ye), and erratic movement of deficient Fire. Alternatively, they may result from the wet nurse being affected by the Six Exogenous Pathogens (Wind, Cold, Summer-heat, Dampness, Dryness, Fire) and Seven Emotions (Joy, Anger, Worry, Pensiveness, Sadness, Fear, Fright), as well as improper diet and daily routine, thereby harming the infant. One must distinguish the etiology, examine the involved meridians, and then treat accordingly. For instance: a bluish complexion with alternating chills and fever, or white nebulas obscuring vision, indicates symptoms of the Liver Meridian. A red face with body heat, thirst, and palpitations/panic indicates symptoms of the Heart Meridian. A sallow complexion with emaciation, thirst, and diarrhea indicates symptoms of the Spleen Meridian. A pale face with coughing, or sores in the nose, indicates symptoms of the Lung Metal (Lung Organ). A dark/dull complexion with emaciation, or a preference for lying on damp ground, indicates symptoms of the Kidney Meridian. For infants, it is appropriate to regulate the wet nurse's condition simultaneously. If one fails to examine the winning and losing relationships among the Five Zang Organs, and the deficiency/excess nature of the physical form and disease, and recklessly uses detoxifying drugs, it often leads to untreatable conditions.
A child suffered from this condition, with frequent urination, a bluish left cheek, and occasional blinking of the eyes. This is a Liver-Spleen disorder. First, Wuwei Yigong San (Five-Ingredient Powder for Extraordinary Efficacy) was administered with added Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), and Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) to tonify and regulate Spleen Qi. Subsequently, Jiwei Lujian Wan (Nine-Ingredient Aloe Pill) was used to clear Liver Fire. Finally, Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) was employed to nourish Kidney Water and generate Liver Wood, resulting in the cure of the scabies. Later, the condition recurred due to neglect, accompanied by nebulas in both eyes, frequent urination, and diarrhea. This was caused by Liver Evil insulting the Spleen. Siwei Fei'er Wan (Four-Ingredient Pill for Enriching the Child) and Wuwei Yigong San with added Wuyi (Canarium Album Resina) were used; when Spleen Qi became robust, the Liver disease healed.
Another child suffered from this condition, presenting with a sallow face, thirst, sour-smelling stool, abdominal distension, and visible blue veins. This is a Liver-Spleen disorder. Wuwei Yigong San was used as the principal formula, assisted by Siwei Fei'er Wan, leading to recovery.
Another child suffered from this condition, presenting with a red face, thirst, and a surging-large pulse at the Heart position. This is a Heart Meridian disorder. Neally, Chaihu Zhizi San (Bupleurum and Gardenia Powder) was administered internally, and Liuxian San (Six-Immortal Powder) applied externally, resulting in recovery. Later, panic, palpitations, and fever occurred, with painful scabies outbreaks. Two doses of Daochi San (Guide Out Red Powder) were given first, followed by Chaihu Zhizi San for the child and Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) for the mother, leading to recovery.
Another child suffered from this condition, presenting with sour-smelling stool, abdominal distension, and cold extremities. This is a Spleen Meridian disorder. Wuwei Yigong San and Siwei Fei'er Wan were used, leading to gradual recovery. Later, the condition recurred because the mother consumed roasted/grilled foods. The mother took Qingwei San (Clear the Stomach Powder) and Huanglian Xiexin Tang (Coptis Decoction to Drain the Heart), while the child took only Gancao (Licorice Root), resulting in recovery.
A child who had a fondness for sweet and fatty foods developed this condition, experiencing itching or pain, coughing, and a desire for cold drinks. This is accumulated Heat in the Spleen and Stomach transmitting to the Lung Meridian. Qingwei San was used first to treat Stomach Heat; a small amount of Xiebai San (Drain White Powder) was used to clear Lung Fire, leading to gradual recovery. After smallpox/variolous eruptions, the condition persisted with dry mouth and a desire for hot soup. Wuwei Yigong San combined with Dafeng Gao (Big Maple Ointment) led to recovery.
A fifteen-year-old child suffered from this condition all over the body, especially on the legs and feet, with fever and a desire for cold drinks. The pulses at both Chi positions (Kidney positions) were rapid and surging-large but empty upon deep pressure. This was caused by congenital Kidney Deficiency. Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) was used, resulting in recovery. Later, due to excessive mental exertion in study, the condition recurred more severely, accompanied by night sweats and seminal emission. Dihuang Wan was used as the principal formula, assisted by Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) and Bazhen Tang (Eight-Treasure Decoction), leading to complete recovery.
Another child suffered from this condition, with fever, a desire for cold drinks, and surging phlegm-saliva. This was due to congenital Kidney Deficiency. Dihuang Wan ingredients were decocted and taken orally, leading to gradual recovery after more than a month; assistance with Bazhen Tang resulted in full recovery. The following year, after marriage, the child experienced fever, expectoration of phlegm, night sweats, and hemoptysis. The previous medicines were used again, leading to recovery.
