Any injury-related disorders are primarily governed by the Liver Meridian. If there is cyanotic swelling without pain, or swelling that does not subside, it indicates Qi and Blood deficiency; use Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Ingredients Great Tonifying Decoction). If bleeding occurs with swelling and pain, or if chills and fever arise, it indicates blood injury causing internal stirring of Liver Fire; use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus). If bleeding persists or chills and fever occur, it indicates Qi deficiency with internal stirring of Liver Fire; use Sijunzi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix). If chills and fever are accompanied by worsening internal pain, this suggests impending suppuration; use Shenqi Neibu San (Ginseng and Astragalus Internal-Nourishing Powder). If pain persists after pus discharge, it indicates Qi and Blood deficiency; use Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction). If the wound margin is red with protruding granulation tissue, it indicates Blood deficiency causing Liver Fire to generate Wind; use Chaihu Zhizi San (Bupleurium and Gardenia Powder). If pus discharge is continuous with a white wound margin and protruding tissue, it indicates Qi deficiency with external condensation of Cold Pathogen; use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction). If pain continues after ulceration or if the wound fails to heal, it is due to Spleen and Stomach weakness; use Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction). Failure to consolidate Yuan Qi, or the application and ingestion of cold-natured drugs, may lead to darkened muscle tissue unable to suppurate, or failure to heal after suppuration, often resulting in fatal cases. How can one not be vigilant?
A child suffered a hand injury with persistent swelling, exuding a small amount of pus in the morning, loss of appetite, fever, aversion to cold, and sallow complexion, indicating Spleen-Stomach Qi deficiency. Morning administration of Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) and evening administration of Wuwei Yigong San (Five-Ingredient Extraordinary Efficacy Powder) plus Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) led to gradual recovery over a month. Later, due to food stagnation and the use of purgative drugs, the affected area became diffusely swollen with vomiting and aversion to cold. I diagnosed a recurrence of Spleen-Stomach injury and treated with Liujunzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) plus Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), resulting in cure.
A young woman, agitated by anger and re-injuring her wound, experienced persistent menstrual bleeding, cyanotic-red arms and face, and a wiry-rapid pulse at the right Guan position. This indicated stirring of Fire in the Liver and Spleen meridians, failing to control blood retention. Initial treatment with Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) for two doses, followed by Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) for two doses, stopped the bleeding and restored peace.
A child suffered an internal injury forming a sore, dark in color and unhealed for a long time, indicating Liver-Spleen Qi and Blood deficiency. Treatment began with Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction), followed by Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) plus Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) and Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) for gradual improvement, and finally Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) for complete recovery.
A child’s arm injury formed a chronic sore with chills, fever, thirst, white-blue non-healing wound margins, and continuous pus flow. Initial treatment with Ren (Ginseng Radix), [missing character], Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), and Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) alleviated chills and fever. Subsequent use of Tuoli San (Supporting Interior Powder) harmonized the local color, and final treatment with Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Ingredients Great Tonifying Decoction) resulted in cure.
A child’s foot injury formed a sore. External application of cold-natured drugs and internal administration of Baidu San (Detoxification Powder) failed to induce suppuration or sloughing. I stated: "This is a Yin-extreme location where Qi and Blood rarely reach; combined with purgative drugs, suppuration is difficult. Even if it suppurates, healing will fail." Treatment with Tuoli San (Supporting Interior Powder) plus Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) for several doses brought slight pain perception and reddening. Reducing Rougui for further doses induced suppuration. Due to overeating and two days of diarrhea, Wuwei Yigong San (Five-Ingredient Extraordinary Efficacy Powder) plus Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) stopped the diarrhea, and Tuoli San (Supporting Interior Powder) completed the cure.
A fifteen-year-old girl suffered a hand injury with clear pus exudation in the morning and afternoon fever, indicating Yuan Qi deficiency. Initial treatment with Wuwei Yigong San (Five-Ingredient Extraordinary Efficacy Powder) plus Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) and Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) restored Yuan Qi over a month. Subsequent treatment with Jiawei Xiaoyao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder), Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction), and Yigong San (Extraordinary Efficacy Powder) resulted in cure.
A fourteen-year-old girl accidentally injured herself while trimming nails, experiencing pain. Improper application of cold-natured drugs and ingestion of detoxifying medicines caused swelling extending to the dorsum of the hand with unchanged skin color. Initial treatment with Neixiao Tuoli San (Internal-Dissolving Supporting Interior Powder) reduced dorsal swelling. Main treatment with Tuoli San (Supporting Interior Powder) assisted by Bazhen Tang (Eight Treasures Decoction) for over two months resulted in cure. At that time, others with similar injuries, failing to consolidate Yuan Qi and focusing solely on attacking the lesion, all died.

Except for Ruxiang, Moyao, and Huangdan, decoct other herbs in oil over slow fire until black, then strain. For every jin of oil, add half jin of Huangdan, stirring constantly until black. Test by dropping into water; it should not stick to fingers. Then add Ruxiang and Moyao, stir again. If too hard, add a little oil until it does not stick.
