Pediatric yellow-water sticky sores (Huangshui Zhichuang) belong to the Liver and Spleen meridians, caused by wind-heat and accumulated heat. If the pathogen is in the exterior manifesting as itching and pain, for mild cases use Xijiao Xiaodu San (Rhinoceros Horn Detoxification Powder); for severe cases use Lianqiao Fangfeng Tang (Forsythia and Saposhnikovia Decoction). If the pathogen is in the interior accompanied by constipation, for mild cases use Jiwei Jiedu San (Nine-Ingredient Detoxification Powder); for severe cases use Da Lianqiao Yin (Large Forsythia Drink). If there is cloudiness of the head and eyes, aversion to cold with high fever, thirst, and constipation, it indicates pathogens in both the interior and exterior; use Jiawei Qingliang Yin (Modified Cooling Drink). If mistakenly administered with harsh purgative drugs leading to fever and aversion to cold, this indicates damage to Lung Qi; use Six Gentlemen Decoction (Sijunzi Tang), Scutellaria Root (Jiegeng), and Bupleurum (Chaihu). If fever and vomiting occur, this indicates damage to Stomach Qi; use Yigong San (Extra-Efficacy Powder). If fever and diarrhea occur, this indicates deficiency of Spleen Qi; use Liu Junzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction), adding Bupleurum (Chaihu) and Cimicifuga (Shengma). Other cases should be treated according to specific symptoms.
A child suffered from this condition with dripping pus, alternating chills and fever, and pain. After taking Baolong Wan (Pawlong Pill) and Baidu San (Detoxification Powder), symptoms worsened with asthma. Asthma and convulsions indicate Liver Fire attacking the Spleen; grinding teeth and drooling indicate deficiency-cold of Spleen Qi. Therefore, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) was administered in the morning, and Wuwei Yigong San (Five-Ingredient Extra-Efficacy Powder) in the evening, with external application of Lixiao San (Instant Efficacy Powder), resulting in recovery.
Another child suffered from this condition with fever, palpitations, fatigue, sallow complexion, anorexia, and drooling. After taking cooling medications, vomiting and diarrhea worsened, and the child slept with eyes partially open. This was diagnosed as deficiency-heat of the Heart and Spleen. One dose of Liu Junzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) added with Dried Ginger (Ganjiang) resulted in immediate improvement, followed by Yigong San (Extra-Efficacy Powder) and Lixiao San (Instant Efficacy Powder) for complete recovery.
Another child suffered from this condition with intermittent itching and pain, and dripping pus. After taking exterior-releasing agents, aversion to cold, fever, vomiting, inability to eat, and cold extremities worsened. This indicated excess pathogenic qi but deficient primordial qi. First, Yigong San (Extra-Efficacy Powder) added with Scutellaria Root (Jiegeng) and Agastache (Huoxiang) stopped the vomiting. Then, Yigong San (Extra-Efficacy Powder) eliminated the chills and fever, and Renshen Xiaofeng San (Ginseng Wind-Expelling Powder) cured the sores.
Another child had the same condition as above. After taking Jingjie Baidu San (Schizonepeta Detoxification Powder), asthma, cough, abdominal distension, and limb convulsions occurred. This indicated deficiency of Spleen and Lung qi with Liver Wood overacting. Yigong San (Extra-Efficacy Powder) added with Bupleurum (Chaihu), Cimicifuga (Shengma), and Scutellaria Root (Jiegeng) was used; one dose rapidly relieved all symptoms. Subsequent administration of Yigong San (Extra-Efficacy Powder) for two doses led to recovery.
Another child suffered from this condition. After taking Baolong Wan (Pawlong Pill) and similar drugs, sweating, asthma, and cough occurred. This indicated deficiency of Lung qi with invasion by external pathogens. Two doses of Yigong San (Extra-Efficacy Powder) added with Scutellaria Root (Jiegeng) were used. Later, a wind-cold attack caused fever and cough, worsening the sores. One dose of Xingxing San (Xingxing Powder) rapidly expelled the external pathogens, followed by Yigong San (Extra-Efficacy Powder) for recovery.
The son of Mao Tongfu suffered from this condition. The pulse at the Mao position was greenish, eyes blinked frequently, and the body felt weary. This indicated deficiency of Earth (Spleen) and hyperactivity of Wood (Liver). He should have used He Gan Bu Pi Tang (Harmonize Liver and Tonify Spleen Decoction) but instead took Baidu San (Detoxification Powder), worsening previous symptoms and adding vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and generalized blistering. I used the aforementioned decoction, pricked the blisters to drain fluid, and applied a mixture of Mung Bean (Lvdou) and Licorice (Gancao) powder frequently on the bedding for the child to lie on. Finally, Shenxiao Danggui Gao (Miraculous Angelica Ointment) was applied for recovery.
The son of Shen Shangbao suffered from this condition with cough and aversion to cold. Da Lianqiao Yin (Large Forsythia Drink) was used, but abdominal distension and reduced appetite ensued. This indicated that treating exterior symptoms incorrectly affected the interior, causing further damage to primordial qi, which was incorrect treatment. Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) was used for recovery.
Another child suffered from this condition with itching, fever, dripping pus, blueish complexion, and aversion to cold. This indicated Liver fire and blood-heat. Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) provided slight relief, followed by He Gan Bu Pi Tang (Harmonize Liver and Tonify Spleen Decoction) for full recovery.
A fourteen-year-old girl had widespread nodules. Scratching them caused dripping pus, fever, irritability, and worsening symptoms in the late afternoon. This indicated deficiency of Qi and Blood with internal heat. Jia Wei Xiao Yao San (Modified Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) was used for recovery.
