Jia Demao's young son developed an *fugu yong* (bone-attached carbuncle) on the inner aspect of his left thigh near the knee. The flesh color was indistinguishable, swelling was diffuse without a head, the skin was shiny, and it felt hard like wood. The condition was severe. This location on the left foot corresponds to the Earth element controlled by Liver Wood, primarily within the distribution of the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian, slightly involving the Foot Taiyin Spleen Meridian. The pulse in the three positions on the left side was fine and wiry, yet surging and slow with slight strength upon deep pressure. This prescription is indicated.

Old Man Yin has always been poor and cold, suffering in both body and spirit. He developed a carbuncle branching from the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian. In his childhood, he had hernia, and the outer sides of his arms were swollen and painful. The Cun (inch) pulses on both the left and right hands were short.
The pulses were uniformly wiry, and upon deep pressure, they were surging, slow, and strong. This carbuncle arises from changes due to the Eight Winds. Based on the pulse, the pathogenic factor is in the Exterior. His symptoms include normal urination and defecation, normal diet, harmony in the abdomen, and ability to taste food, indicating the disease is not in the Interior. He does not fear wind or cold, only experiencing heat and restlessness, and the pulse is not floating, indicating the disease is not in the Exterior. Since the Interior and Exterior are harmonized, the pathogenic factor lies within the meridians. The *Neijing* states: "Coagulation in the meridians leads to sores and carbuncles." Since this carbuncle appears on the upper half of the body, Wind pathogens enter from above. Thus, it is known to be a sore caused by the transformation of the Eight Winds. Therefore, treatment involves dispelling the Cold pathogen and regulating the Qi and Blood in the meridians to prevent stagnation.

The above herbs are chopped, divided into two doses. Each dose is decocted with one and a half *zhan* of wine and one and a half *zhan* of water until reduced to one *zhan*. Filter to remove dregs, take warm before bedtime. One dose resulted in a cure.
