Enuresis is caused by the failure of the bladder to maintain control. The Kidneys govern the gates of urination and defecation; when Kidney deficiency with cold causes these gates to be insecure, enuresis results. However, there are also cases where Qi deficiency of the Lung and Spleen fails to regulate the water passages, leading to enuresis. For enuresis due to insufficient Yuan Qi of the Kidneys failing to warm and secure, the formula Fuzi Renshen Shanyurou Fang (Aconite, Ginseng, and Cornus Pill) is primarily used. For enuresis due to the inability of Lung and Spleen Qi to lift and hold, the formula Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) is primarily used. Bedwetting during sleep occurs due to innate Yang deficiency, resulting in coldness of both the Bladder and Kidney Qi; this is treated primarily with the Xiongji Gan Guixin Fang (Rooster Liver and Cinnamon Heart Pill).
Fuzi Renshen Shanyurou Fang (Aconite, Ginseng, and Cornus Pill)
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, 3 qian), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 3 qian), Shanyurou (Corni Fructus, or add Yizhiren [Bletillae Rhizoma], 2 qian). Decoct in water, add a little salt, and take orally.

Xiongji Gan Guixin Fang (Rooster Liver and Cinnamon Heart Pill)
Xiongji Gan (Rooster Liver) and Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex Ramulus / Heart of Cinnamon Twig) in equal parts. Pound into pills the size of small beans. Take three times daily.
Rectal prolapse is caused by the sinking of Spleen and Kidney Qi. The Spleen governs ascending, and the Kidneys govern securing. The ascending action of Spleen Qi can lift and hold organs, while the securing power of Kidney Qi acts as a lock and key. If Spleen Qi sinks and loses its lifting power, and Kidney Qi sinks and loses its securing authority, the anus will prolapse. For rectal prolapse due to the sinking of Spleen and Kidney Qi, the formula Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) is primarily used.

Jiju (Accumulation and Gathering) refers to the stagnation and stasis of Qi and Blood. "Ji" (Accumulation) arises from the Zang organs, is fixed and immovable upon palpation, and belongs to Yin. "Ju" (Gathering) forms from the Fu organs, moves upon palpation, and belongs to Yang. In "Ji", blood stasis predominates over Qi stagnation; as stated in the *Nan Jing* (Classic of Difficult Issues): "Blood stagnation without nourishment." In "Ju", Qi stagnation predominates over blood stasis; as stated in the *Nan Jing*: "Qi retention without movement." Heart disease manifests above, Kidney disease below, Liver disease on the left, Lung disease on the right, and Spleen disease in the center. Accumulations of the five Zang organs each have their specific locations, but tracing back to the root cause, it is always due to the failure of Middle Qi to circulate. Internal accumulations located within the Zang-Fu organs are treated with Huajian Wan (Harden-Dissolving Pill); external accumulations located in the meridians are treated with topical application of Huajian Gao (Harden-Dissolving Plaster).
Huajian Wan (Harden-Dissolving Pill)
Gancao (Licorice Root, 2 liang), Danpi (Moutan Bark, 3 liang), Jupi (Tangerine Peel, 3 liang), Taoren (Peach Seed, 3 liang), Xingren (Apricot Seed, 3 liang), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig, 3 liang). Process with refined honey and aged vinegar into pills. Take orally with sour jujube and rice decoction, 3-5 pills per dose, twice daily. If masses are hard and difficult to dissolve, ingredients that break hardness and dissipate phlegm-stagnation must be used. Add Badou (Croton Seed) and Chuanjiao (Sichuan Pepper) for internal cold. Add Mangxiao (Mirabilite) and Dahuang (Rhubarb Root) for internal heat. For accumulations on the left, where blood is abundant and Qi is scarce, add Biejia (Turtle Shell) and Muli (Oyster Shell). For gatherings on the right, where Qi is abundant and blood is scarce, add Zhishi (Immature Bitter Orange) and Houpo (Magnolia Bark). Internal accumulations in the Zang-Fu can be cured with pills; external accumulations in the meridians are resolved with plasters.
Huajian Gao (Harden-Dissolving Plaster)
Dangguiwei (Angelica Sinensis Tail, 4 qian), Biejia (Turtle Shell, 8 qian), Badou (Croton Seed, pounded, 4 qian), Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, 4 qian), Sanleng (Sparganium Rhizome, 4 qian), Ezhu (Curcuma Rhizome, 4 qian), Shan Jia (Pangolin Scale, 1 liang 2 qian), Jinyu (Human Nail Claws, 1 qian). These eight ingredients are boiled in 1 jin of Sesame Oil with 8 liang of Red Lead (Dan) to make a plaster. Pengsha (Borax, 4 qian), Sha (Realgar, 4 qian), Aw ei (Asafoetida, stir-fried and ground, 6 qian), Shexiang (Musk, 2 qian), Renshen (Ginseng Root, 4 qian), Sanqi (Notoginseng Root, 4 qian), Shanyangxue (Goat Blood, 4 qian), Rougui (Cinnamon Bark, 4 qian). These eight ingredients are ground into fine powder and added to the plaster, melted over fire, and stirred evenly. After cooling slightly, pour into a basin of water, soak for two to three days, store in a jar, and spread onto dog skin. Before application, wash the skin thoroughly with Nipiao (Saltpeter) water to open the pores, dry it, rub with sliced ginger dozens of times, then apply the plaster. For all types of phlegm-masses and accumulations, one patch suffices for mild cases, two patches for severe cases, leading to complete resolution. As the plaster is applied gradually, the mass shrinks, and the plaster naturally detaches from the resolved areas, remaining adhered only to unresolved spots. Avoid all foods that trigger diseases. Only pork, dog meat, duck, wild duck, scaled river fish, Chinese cabbage, leeks, rice, and wheat noodles are permitted. All other seafood, chicken, mutton, cucumber, and plants with perennial roots are forbidden. Scaleless fish, swan meat, sow meat, buckwheat, and purslane are forbidden for life. Violating these taboos will immediately trigger the root of the disease; if the phlegm-mass recurs severely, it cannot be eradicated.
