典藏书目

Clause: Itching of the eyes is all due to Wind in the Liver and Gallbladder channels. The itching occurs at the canthi, eyelids, and the white and black parts of the eye. Externally wash with Guangda Zhongming Decoction; internally take Jingjie, Fangfeng, Qianghuo, Chuanwu, and Chuanxiong.

Formula: Guangda Zhongming Decoction (see end of volume)
Qufeng Yizi San Formula
Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica) 5 qian
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) 2 liang 5 qian
Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) 2 liang 5 qian
Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix Praeparata), processed, 5 qian
Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) 5 qian
Grind the above into a fine powder, mix evenly. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction) after meals.

[Note] [1] Cases of eye itching are caused by Wind pathogenic factors attacking the Liver and Gallbladder channels.
[2] It may occur at the edges of the eyelids or inside the canthi; severe cases involve itching extending to the eyeball, which is extremely unbearable.
[3] Externally fumigate and wash with Guangda Zhongming Decoction; internally take Qufeng Yizi San to disperse Wind pathogenic factors.

Clause: When struck by an object, the eyeball breaks, causing distending pain. Swelling closes the eyelids, turning them blue/black; washing is beneficial. Externally apply Shengdi Huang San; ingredients include Chuanxiong, Shengdihuang, Lingyangjiao, Dahuang, Chishao, Zhike, and Muxiang.

Formula: Shengdihuang San Formula
Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma)
Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix)
Lingyangjiao (Saigae Tataricae Cornu)
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma)
Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra)
Zhike (Aurantii Fructus)
Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix)
Each 1 qian. Grind the above into coarse powder. Decoct with two cups of water until one cup remains. Strain and take warm after meals.

[Note] [1] Cases of being struck by an object, whether from beating/blowing or collision, result in distending pain of the eyeball, cyanosis of the eyelids, and swelling that prevents opening. First, use [blank] Xi to dissipate blood stasis; externally apply mashed Shengdihuang paste; internally take Shengdihuang San.

Clause: Leukoma and internal cataracts often present with itching and dryness. Vision is dim at dusk and bright at dawn, similar to a sparrow. At twilight, seeing downwards is difficult while seeing upwards is hard. Liver Wind and Evil Fire obstruct the pupils.
Xigan San uses Cheqianzi, Chaihu, Huangqin, Xixin, Heishen, and Changpu.
Xiegan Tang contains Xiaoshi, Dahuang, Baishao, Jiegeng, Huangqin, and Fangfeng.

Formula: Xigan San Formula
Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen) 1 qian
Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) 1.5 qian
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) 1 qian
Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) 0.5 qian
Heishen (Polygonati Rhioma? Note: Likely refers to a specific preparation or typo for another herb like Shashen, but kept as Heishen per text) 1 qian
Changpu (Agastaches Herba? Note: Text says 'Chong', likely Changpu or similar, keeping phonetic/standard equivalent if clear, here 'Chong' usually implies Changpu or similar in context of eye formulas, but strictly 'Chong' might be a typo for 'Changpu' or 'Chonglou'. Given standard formula Xigan San often contains Changpu or similar, but text says 'Chong'. I will transliterate as Chong or assume Changpu if standard. However, strict adherence to text: 'Chong'. Let's use 'Chong' or clarify. Actually, 'Chong' in this context often refers to 'Changpu' (Acorus) or is a typo. Standard Xigan San has Changpu. I will use Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma) assuming typo, or keep literal. Let's stick to literal 'Chong' if unsure, but WHO term for Changpu is Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma. Let's assume Changpu based on common formula composition, but text says 'Chong'. Wait, 'Chong' could be 'Chonglou'? No. Let's look at 'Heishen'. Heishen is not standard. Maybe 'Shashen'? Or 'Huanshen'? Let's translate literally as Heishen and Chong to be safe, or note potential variants. Actually, 'Chong' is likely 'Changpu' (菖蒲) typo in OCR or old print. 'Heishen' might be 'Huanshen' or 'Shashen'. I will use the pinyin provided in text for accuracy to source.) -> *Correction*: In many editions, it is 'Changpu' (菖蒲) and 'Shashen' (沙参) or 'Dan Shen'. 'Heishen' is rare. I will translate as written: Heishen and Chong.
*Refined Translation Strategy*: Use WHO terms where possible, otherwise Pinyin + Description.
Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen) 1 qian
Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) 1.5 qian
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) 1 qian
Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) 0.5 qian
Heishen (Radix Polygonati? Uncertain, transliterated as Heishen) 1 qian
Chong (Likely Changpu/Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, transliterated as Chong) 2 qian
Grind the above into coarse powder. Decoct with two cups of water and 37 black beans (Phaseoli Vulgaris Semen Nigrum) until one cup remains. Remove black beans and take warm on an empty stomach.

Que Mu Xiegan Tang Formula
Xiaoshi (Natrii Sulfas)
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma)
Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba)
Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix)
Each 1 qian.
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix)
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix)
Each 2 qian.
Grind the above into coarse powder. Decoct with two cups of water until one cup remains. Strain and take warm before meals.

[Note] [1] Que Mu (Night Blindness) and internal cataracts present with vision dim at dusk and bright at dawn, resembling a sparrow. Symptoms include frequent itching and dryness, irregular onset, alternating clarity and darkness. At night, one can only see objects directly below but not above. This is caused by Liver Wind and Evil Fire rushing upward to the eyes, resulting in internal cataracts.
[2] It is appropriate to first take Xigan San to clear deficient heat, then take Xiegan Tang to purge excess pathogenic factors.
