旁人看到有人上吊,不要贸然割断绳子,一定要搬来物体垫高,使头部能够着地,然后立即牵拉头发,抬起身体,让绳子稍微松开一些;

The *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Individuals who fail to achieve their desires often harbor resentment, leading them to commit suicide by hanging themselves. They use a rope or other objects to bind their necks and hang until death, a condition referred to as "Zi Jing" (Self-hanging).
It further states: For those who have died by hanging, if the incident occurred from morning to evening, even if the body has cooled down, it is certainly treatable; however, if it occurred from evening to morning, it is difficult to treat. This is because Yang Qi is abundant during the day, whereas... [text missing].
It also states: In summer, nights are short and hot, making treatment easier.
Furthermore, it states: Even if respiration has ceased, if there is still slight warmth in the heart region, treatment is possible even if more than a day has passed.
Another prescription: Cover the patient's mouth and nose with old clothing, and two people blow air into each of the patient's ears, which can restore life.
The *Duan Ju Fang* (Short Drama Formulas) provides a formula for treating death by hanging:
When bystanders see someone hanging, they should not rashly cut the rope. Instead, one must place an object underneath to support the head, then immediately pull the hair to lift the body, allowing the rope to loosen slightly.
Another method: When treating death by hanging, do not cut the rope. If the rope breaks suddenly, the Qi will dissipate instantly, resulting in death that cannot be rescued. Slowly embrace the deceased and gradually massage... [text missing] to obtain blood... [text missing].
The *Qian Jin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) provides formulas for treating death by hanging:
In cases of death by hanging, do not cut the rope. Slowly untie and carry the person. If the area below the heart remains warm, cover the mouth and nose with a woolen rug, and have two people blow air into both ears. (From *Jiu Ji Dan Yan Fang*).
Another method: Administer indigo juice orally.
Another method: Collect dust from the roof beams, sized like broad beans, and place each portion into a bamboo tube. Four people each hold a tube and simultaneously blow into both ears and nostrils to effect a cure.
It also mentions the "Five Extinctions" formulas: 1. Hanging, 2. Falling from walls, 3. Drowning, 4. Nightmare/Sleep paralysis, 5. Postpartum extinction. All use Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), 1 liang... [text missing].
The *Ji Yan Fang* (Collected Proven Formulas) treats death by hanging: Grind Zao Jiao (Gleditsiae Fructus) and Xi Xin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) into powder, form pills the size of broad beans, and blow them into both nostrils. Life is restored upon sneezing. Using Zao Jiao alone is also effective.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Formulas of Master Ge) states: Even if some time has passed since death by hanging, if there is still slight warmth in the heart region, it is still treatable. The treatment method is as follows:
Grind Zao Jiao (Gleditsiae Fructus) into powder, use a scallion leaf as a conduit to blow the powder into both nostrils.
Another method: Use a reed tube to blow air into both ears. Continue until exhaustion, then switch persons, stopping only when the patient revives. If Qi circulation resumes, administer Gui Tang (Cinnamon Decoction) in small amounts to be swallowed slowly, and gradually... [text missing].
The *Long Men Fang* (Dragon Gate Formulas) treats death by hanging:
