The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases) states: Some individuals consume snake meat that fails to digest, leading to the formation of a "Snake Jia" (a palpable abdominal mass resembling a snake) within the abdomen. Additionally, snake seminal fluid may accidentally enter food or drink, also causing this disease.
The *Xinlu Fang* (Newly Recorded Prescriptions) treats cases where snake consumption leads to indigestion and illness caused by snake seminal fluid entering the diet, characterized by a snake-like shape perceived in the abdomen, termed "Snake Jia."
Prescription:
Prepare thick garlic paste (Suanji, minced garlic) and drink more than one *sheng* (approx. 200ml). Tao Hongjing noted that garlic paste sold in bakeries has the power to expel snakes; this is not an empty claim.
Another prescription:
Crush *Jiu Suan Cao* (likely referring to a specific sour herb, possibly *Oxalis corniculata* or similar) to extract juice, and take eight *ge* (approx. 160ml).
Yet another prescription:
Crush soybean leaves to extract juice, and take one *sheng*.
Yet another prescription:
Crush *Chang Si Cao* (Herb of Constant Thought, likely a folk name for a specific plant) and take it as above, administering frequently until recovery.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) provides a prescription for Snake Zheng (mass):
Cut white horse hair into five-fen lengths. Take one *cunbi* (approx. 5-10g powder volume) with wine. Large masses will be expelled naturally; take two *cunbi* more, and medium-sized ones will be expelled; take three *cunbi* more...
It also states: The Dahuang Decoction for treating Snake Jia:
Rhubarb Radix et Rhizoma (Banliang, approx. 25g), Cuttlefish Bone (Ermei, 2 pieces), Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit (Liuzhu, approx. 7.5g), Mirabilite like a chicken egg (Yimei, 1 piece), Scutellaria Root (Banliang, approx. 25g), Licorice Root (Da, large piece, quantity unspecified in text).
Take these six ingredients, add six *sheng* of water, boil until boiling three times, strain off the dregs, add Mirabilite, and take completely when the temperature is suitable. Ten days later, decoct again using the same method, and take as desired... (Text is incomplete here).
It also states: The prescription for treating Jiaolong Disease (Dragon Disease):
In the sixth year of the Kaihuang era, someone contracted this disease after eating celery in February or August. The onset resembles mania, with a greenish-yellow complexion. (Legend holds that Jiaolong eggs develop on celery; if humans eat celery, the eggs may inadvertently enter the abdomen and transform into Jiaolong.)
The *Zhubing Yuanhou Lun* states: "Bie Jia" refers to an abdominal mass shaped like a soft-shelled turtle. It arises from eating turtle meat that fails to digest due to cold exposure, or from consuming various miscellaneous substances... (Text is incomplete here).
The *Guangji Fang* (Guangji Prescriptions) provides a prescription for Bie Zheng (mass):
Drink one *sheng* and five *ge* (approx. 300ml) of white horse urine warm, taking it all at once, until cured.
The *Ge Shi Fang* (Ge's Prescriptions) treats Bie Jia lodged under the heart, where the head and feet can be felt upon palpation and move occasionally:
Take two white female chickens, fast them overnight. On the morning of the next day, feed them rice fried in fat. Collect their feces, regardless of quantity. Mix with human urine in a copper vessel, and simmer over fire until dry, then crush... (Text is incomplete here).
The *Qianjin Fang* provides a prescription for Bie Zheng:
Take one *dou* (approx. 10L) of Isatis Leaf, crush it, add three *sheng* of water, squeeze out the juice, and take one *sheng*, twice daily.
Another prescription:
Take one *dou* of white horse urine and three chicken eggs. Boil only the egg whites together, reduce to two *ge*, and take on an empty stomach. (This matches the *Guangji Fang*).
The *Xinlu Fang* provides a prescription for Bie Zheng, where the mass is round like a turtle, has legs that can move, and repeatedly strikes the heart causing pain:
Take the white bark of *Shuo Lu* root (likely *Astragalus membranaceus* or similar legume root), crush three *sheng*, mix with five to six *ge* of water, stir, squeeze out the juice, take seven to eight *ge*, and induce vomiting.
Another prescription:
Crush Indigo Leaf juice and take seven to eight *ge*.
Yet another prescription:
Individually take one *sheng* of white horse urine, twice daily.
