The viscera diagrams drawn by the ancients are as follows:
Figure 1
The lungs have six lobes and two ears, totaling eight lobes.
Figure 2
Figure 3
The gallbladder is attached to the short lobes of the liver.
The left side of the liver has three lobes, and the right side has four lobes, totaling seven lobes.
I have drawn the visible and hidden shapes of various viscera that I observed personally behind this text, totaling forty-two items.
Figure 1
The left Qi gate (left bronchus) and the right Qi gate (right bronchus) are two tubes that merge into a single central tube. This tube exits from the left side of the heart, runs horizontally backward, and connects to the Wei Zong Guan (General Manager of Wei Qi / Superior Vena Cava equivalent). The heart is located below the trachea, not below the lung tubes. The heart is level with the upper edge of the lung lobes.
Figure 2
The lung tubes branch into two at the lungs, entering the two lobes of the lungs and penetrating straight through to the bottom, all possessing nodes. The substance contained within the tubes consists entirely of light, floating white foam, resembling tofu foam. It has form but lacks twenty-four pores for the circulation of Qi.
Figure 3
Above the diaphragm, there are only the lungs, the heart, the left Qi gate, and the right Qi gate; there are no other organs. All remaining organs are located below the diaphragm. The human diaphragm serves as the boundary between the upper and lower body.
Figure 4
The liver has four lobes. The gallbladder is attached to the second lobe on the right side of the liver. The Zong Ti (General Lifter / Greater Omentum) is located above the stomach. The liver is situated above the Zong Ti, with its broad surface facing upward and its posterior aspect connected to the spine. The liver tissue is solid and cannot be compared to the intestines, stomach, or bladder; it absolutely does not store blood.
Figure 5
Regarding the structure of the stomach: the upper opening is called the Ben Men (Gate of Entry / Cardia), located in the center-top of the stomach. The lower opening is called the You Men (Gate of Exit / Pylorus), located slightly to the right of the stomach's top. Approximately one cun to the left of the You Men is named the Jin Men (Gate of Fluids). To the left of the Jin Men inside the stomach, there is a lump resembling a jujube, named Zhe Shi (Food Cover). Outside the stomach, to the left of the Jin Men, is the Zong Ti, to which the liver is connected. The stomach lies flat in the abdomen in a horizontal position. Its upper opening faces the spine, its lower opening faces right, its base faces the abdomen, and it connects to the water drainage pathways.
Figure 6
Inside the spleen, there is a tube with a delicate structure that facilitates water discharge, hence named Long Guan (Exquisite Tube). The length of the spleen is equal to that of the stomach. The central tube within the spleen is the Long Guan. The Long Guan is drawn separately because it represents the water drainage pathway, making it easier to identify.
Figure 7
The Qi Fu (Qi Mansion), commonly known as Ji Guan You (Chicken Comb Oil), has its lower edge embracing the small intestine. Inside the Qi Fu and outside the small intestine lies the place where Yuan Qi (Original Qi) is stored. The transformation of food by Yuan Qi is the source of life for the human body, residing entirely here. This refers to the small intestine, which is wrapped externally by the Qi Fu.
Figure 8
In the center is the Long Guan. Water flows from the Long Guan, dividing into two sides to enter the water drainage pathways. From these pathways, it seeps out and permeates into the bladder to become urine. Within the water drainage pathways, there are blood return vessels; the rest are water vessels.
Figure 9
The upper opening of the large intestine is the same as the lower opening of the small intestine, named Lan Men (Lan Gate / Ileocecal Valve). The lower opening of the large intestine is the anus.
Figure 10
The bladder has a lower opening but no upper opening. The lower opening leads to the Yu Jing (Jade Stem / Penis). The lower aperture of the Jing Dao (Semen Pathway / Vas Deferens) also leads to the Yu Jing. In women, the Jing Dao is named the Zi Gong (Womb / Uterus).
Figure 11
At the concave areas of the two kidneys, there are two Qi tubes connecting to the Wei Zong Guan. The kidney tissues on both sides are solid, lacking internal cavities, and absolutely do not store essence (Jing).
Figure 12
The white membrane behind the tongue is called Hui Yan (Epiglottis), which covers the left and right Qi gates and the throat gate.
Figure 13
The ancients stated that meridians are blood vessels, extending two roots outward from each organ, with the exception of the bladder, which extends four roots. Having personally examined over a hundred sets of viscera, I did not observe any shape of blood vessels growing outward from the organs. Therefore, I record this observation after the diagrams.
